My friend told me that he attended a workshop back then and one of the things that was thought was using chicken poo which was named "black gold" to make fish feed.

I want to know, has anyone here successfully used such, I am just curious to know if such thing works or is there anyone here who provides such training.
the bacteria load will kill d fish.... Try chicken intestine, we get it for free from where they sell chicken meat, sometimes we pay 1k or 2k

This doesn't sound right. Chicken excreta cannot be food, best case is manure. Doing this would mean transferring diseases to the fish and subsequently, humans.

I will test run it on a small pond before the big pond will be ready. It's a big project so we have to plan ahead. Besides, I am not doing most of things own my own, professionals will be working with me

What they meant is to collect the chicken poo and allow maggots full it, then sieve out the poo and feed your fish the maggots which is a raw source of good protein and healthy oils.

Hope you understand now, don't feed your fish chicken poo.

Simple as ABC but that's if they will read

🐓➡️🐟 How to Convert Chicken Droppings into Nutritious Fish Feed in Nigeria
Using chicken droppings as fish feed is a common, cost-saving practice—especially in integrated farms where poultry and fish are raised together. But raw droppings must never be fed directly to fish. Doing it right makes all the difference between boosting fish growth and causing disease.

Here’s a full step-by-step guide to convert it safely and make it more nutritious.

⚠️ First, Why Not Use It Raw?
Raw poultry manure contains:

Harmful bacteria (e.g. Salmonella, E. coli)

Ammonia and uric acid which can pollute the water

●Uneven nutrient content

So we must process it.

What You’ll Need:
●Fresh but dried chicken droppings (free from sand and feathers)
●Maize bran or wheat offal (for energy)
●Groundnut cake or soya meal (for protein balance)
●Bone meal or limestone (for minerals)
●Salt and premix (for micronutrients)
●Charcoal powder or wood ash (for detoxifying effect)
●Clean water
●Large basin or feed mixer
●Sunlight or dryer
●Optional: Molasses or fish amino acid (for palatability and fermentation)

🧪 Sample Recipe (100kg Batch):
●Ingredient Quantity (kg)
●Dried chicken droppings 40
●Maize bran 20
●Groundnut cake 20
●Bone meal 5
●Charcoal powder 2
●Salt 1
●Vitamin/mineral premix 1
●Water As needed
●Molasses (optional) 2
●Fish amino acid (opt.) 1

🔨 Step-by-Step Preparation:
Step 1: Collect and Dry the Chicken Droppings
●Spread fresh poultry litter under the sun for 3–5 days until completely dry.
●Sieve or sort to remove feathers, stones, and large debris.

Step 2: Ferment (Optional but Better)
●Mix 40kg of dried droppings with molasses or sugar and water to make it damp (not soaked).
●Place in a sack or drum, cover with plastic, and let it ferment for 5–7 days.
●This helps reduce pathogens and improves nutrient availability.

Step 3: Grind the Dried Droppings
●Use a feed grinder or mortar and pestle to break it into smaller particles.

Step 4: Mix All Ingredients
●In a clean basin, mix droppings, maize bran, groundnut cake, bone meal, charcoal, salt, and premix.
●Add water gradually to get a dough-like texture.

Step 5: Form Pellets (Optional)
●Use a pelletizing machine or mold into small balls by hand.
●Sun-dry for 1–2 days until completely hard and dry.

Step 6: Store Properly
●Keep in airtight bags or buckets in a cool, dry place.
●Feed should be used within 2–3 weeks for best results.

🐟 How to Feed to Fish:
●Species: Works best for catfish, tilapia, and carp.
●Use as a supplement, not the only feed—combine with commercial feed or local feeds like maggots or soybean cake.
●Feed in small amounts twice daily.
●Observe fish response—if water gets dirty or fish are not active, reduce the portion.

🧠 Tips to Improve Nutrition:
●Add enzyme powder or probiotics if available to improve digestion.
●Supplement with BSF larvae, snails, or earthworms for extra protein.
●Use papaya leaves or moringa powder (in small quantities) to boost immunity.

🧪 Nutritional Breakdown (Rough Estimates):
Nutrient Percentage
Crude protein 18–22%
Energy Moderate
Fiber High
Minerals Present

⚠️ Warnings:
●Do not use droppings from sick or medicated birds.
●Never feed unprocessed droppings.
●Do not overfeed—monitor water quality closely.
●Stop immediately if fish become sluggish or if water turns brown.

ITK no go put you for trouble.

Op, go and watch Indian, they make their cage ontop of the fish pond so that the poo goes directly into the pond for the fishes to feed on.

Do research on TikTok and youtube.

Hope you are feeling alright now, indians do their videos in Hindi, hope OP understands hindi as he continues his research.
israelmao(m): 1:46pm On May 11
It is very possible because after chicken droppings is collected and left for some day some natural decomposing agents like worms, ants, maggots etc find their ways into it and these are parts of what become food for fish in addition to the chicken droppings.

Ask your friend to teach you how to do it.

Why don't you rather look at how to produce maggots and worms in commercial quantity? To me that looks doable and a good venture if properly researched and set up.

Sell the black gold to buy fish feed.

That's my own take

Yes, but not on a commercial scale, I fed my fish more with fish guts, but I observed that they also ate animal droppings too, I didn't pay close attention to observe it like a study, I just wanted to feed them with only unprocessed food in an earthen pond, I got very good harvest too.

Suppose some of the chicken is infected with newcattle disease and the contaminated droppings of the infected chicken is fed to the fish, wouldn't the disease be ed on though the contaminated droppings to the fish ?

Why don't you just use the Chicken Manure to grow protein rich Azolla or Water Lilly which multiply fast and feed them that instead

This doesn't sound right. Chicken excreta cannot be food, best case is manure. Doing this would mean transferring diseases to the fish and subsequently, humans.
most diseases of animal is not zoonotic (can be ed from one specie to another). Pig doesn't have newcastle and other diseases of fowl. A good example is asf that ravages pigs and is incurable for pigs. Human being can eat infected animals and won't I but if another pig eat infected animal ,it is gone.
wengerman: 7:25am On May 13
Google chicken or any animal excreta and know it's components . Excreta is basically undigested feed and excess nutrients. Which can be recovered. To reduce infection you don't use the excreta of an animal to feed that particular animal e g excreta of fowl to feed fowl, excreta of pig to feed pig. There are a lot of research on using dried excreta of fowl to feed pig. Just try and use your Google abd you will be amazed by things you will see.
wengerman: 7:28am On May 13
In that training the excreta will first be fermented and other later cooked. So I believe all the microbes will actually be dead.
EvergreenDiarie: 10:36am On May 13

A fish pond in my area actually did this. The poultry was directly on top of the fish pond, and the waste was being fed to the fish.
The business crumbled after the first harvest; maybe it was due to inexperience.

The chickens were not meant to feed on the droppings.

But are to feed on the maggots that came out of the droppings.

It's called metamorphosis in biology.
