pilots, I just discovered this hose (image below) was somehow disconnected from my corolla tank, pls whats the function of the hose? car works well, but I'm just concerned if the disconnection have no negative effect on the car. according to google image search, it said it's EVAP hose, but the explanation isn't straight forward about its functions.

Omoapena: In simple , the evap hose (short for evaporative emission hose) is part of your car’s system that helps prevent gas fumes from escaping into the air. When gas sits in your fuel tank, it gives off fumes. The evap hose carries those fumes to a special canister (called a charcoal canister), where they are stored instead of being released into the air. Later, those fumes are sent into the engine to be burned, which helps reduce pollution and improves fuel efficiency. So, the evap hose is like a pipeline that helps your car be more eco-friendly and efficient. Want to know signs of a faulty evap hose? Yes, removing the evap hose can affect your car in several ways: Check Engine Light: The most immediate effect is that the Check Engine Light will likely come on. Modern vehicles have sensors that monitor the EVAP system. Poor Fuel Economy: Without the evap hose, fuel vapors that should be burned for energy escape into the air, so you lose potential fuel efficiency. Stronger Fuel Smell: You’ll probably notice a strong gasoline odor, especially near the fuel tank or engine. Pollution: Your car will release more harmful fumes into the environment. Possible Engine Issues: While it may not immediately harm the engine, an unsealed EVAP system can lead to poor engine performance, rough idling, or trouble starting, depending on the vehicle. Failed Emissions Test: If your area requires emissions testing, the car will likely fail without a functioning EVAP system. This explanation looks simpler |

Yesterday, I picked a rider at Shomolu going to Ikeja GRA. The rider was on a call and was complaining to someone that the first driver that picked her ride cancelled after she waited for 15 minutes for the driver to arrive. She said that when the driver got to where she was, he asked her where she's going? And she was like, didn't you see my destination before picking the right? The driver said, no. And she said, I'm going to Ikeja. So the driver said, no, I'm not going to Ikeja. I thought I saw Lagos mainland as your destination. That he's not willing to go as far as Ikeja. That he just wants to work within Lagos Mainland and Shomolu. So after much talk, he had to cancel the ride. The rider had to wait outside and book another ride. She felt so frustrated to have waited that long only for the driver to cancel. Some of us, the drivers, are part of the cause of the rider's behavior. Because we do things that make the person now choose to waste the driver's time instead of theirs. You see them book the ride like 15 to 20 minutes ahead in case of disappointments like this. If a driver knows that he wants to work within a specific area, the best thing is to use apps like inDrive that allows you to choose within where you want to work. Instead of of using Bolt that you know that will throw any request your way |

@DEGREE2466 I'm confused. Ikeja is on mainland nah. Abi you didn't get the gist well ni? Much respect, baba. |

Glithronix: Mainland local government is Yaba, Iwaya, Makoko, Oyingbo, Ebute Metta, Iddo. If you get a ride going to Ikeja, you'll first see Ikeja, then the exact location. Same with when you get a ride going to Yaba, you'll first see, Lagos Mainland, then the location 4 Likes |

DEGREE2466:The driver no serious. He should have added the local government and start mentioning the locations to the rider nah (shioor). However, generally, once you descend 3mb, you're already on the mainland. Same with when you're going to the island. 3mb is between both lands. It is well. Much respect, baba. |

Glithronix: You don't seem to understand the issue. The issue here is that the driver has an appointment that is already close so he doesn't want to go far away from the Lagos Mainland local government areas. But then, he must have seen the location when he picked 2 Likes |

DEGREE2466: I am very sure driver asked her before coming and she said "can't u see it on the app? " Instead of simply confirming to the driver her destination. So the driver intentionally wanted to teach her a lesson by driving to her and cancelling when she is in d car. So next time a driver asks her "where are u going to?", she will talk. Sounds like something I did do if I was very close to d Rider. There are duplicate street names all over Lagos, so just to be sure what u put on d map is actually where u are going to, I most times still ask just to confirm before I move an inch. 2 Likes |

Pearl1910: I am sure apps have a reason why they don't allow the destination to be readily visible, so it is out of place for drivers to ask riders for this information until they are at pickup location and they shouldn't blame riders who don't provide this information. From my experience, 99% of the time, when drivers ask for destination location and I tell them, next question they ask is how much I saw on the app, then they end up cajoling me to pay extra. It could even be a security exposure for me. Now, I don't reveal my destination at all until they get to pickup location. Drivers should take it up to the app companies to add that feature In this particular incident, the lady is not the only lover here. At least, the driver spent his fuel in getting to the location of the driver before cancelling. If he is too concerned about his appointment, then he should focus on it 1 Like |
