Onenparty system might work but not when APC is rulling. Let it be on a neutral ground . New party, new ideology and spirit. |

The issue of advocating for a one-party state, especially in a democracy like Nigeria, is a deeply philosophical and political question that touches on governance, freedom, ability, and the historical struggles for pluralism. ✨ Democracy vs. One-party Rule Democracy, by design, encourages competition of ideas, checks and balances, and the protection of minority opinions. A one-party system—even if voluntarily formed—can lead to concentration of power, suppression of dissent, and the erosion of ability mechanisms. Philosophically, the move toward a single dominant party often implies trust in a singular truth, which contradicts the pluralism inherent in democratic theory (John Stuart Mill would argue this threatens liberty). ✨ China as a Model? Ganduje's reference to China reflects a utilitarian justification: if the system works economically, then it's acceptable politically. But that ignores China's authoritarian structure, limited civil liberties, and state-controlled information. Comparing Nigeria to China philosophically is problematic because context, history, and values differ greatly. ⭐ Moral Integrity and Leadership Many commenters point out the moral failure of Nigerian politicians, using Ganduje’s own controversies (e.g., alleged bribery videos) as an example. Even if a one-party state were theoretically efficient, in a corrupt system, it could become a dictatorship cloaked in democracy. Thinkers like Plato and Confucius emphasized virtue and justice in leadership—if leaders lack integrity, no system (one-party or multi-party) can flourish. ⭐ Public Reaction and Democratic Values The harsh criticism in responses reflects a deep public skepticism. People fear being silenced, marginalised, or left without representation. From a Rousseauian or Kantian perspective, consent of the governed and dignity of the citizen are non-negotiable. A Philosophical Question for You: Should political unity ever be valued over democratic diversity if it claims to bring peace or progress? |

njokuuche77: This is what happens when the opposition is as bad as the government. Instead of the opposition building political parties that are discipline with ideas and values. They jump from one party to another |

OdogwuMike: That's just the mindset of the average Nigerian. The evil becomes good when they're profiting from it, directly or indirectly. When there's no way for them to benefit from it, they go bonkers. ![]() Very typical ![]() |

One good thing is that no man will live for ever. There is death. If death wasnt the end of every human being. Nigerians would have been eaten raw and nobody can say anything. Let them continue.

Many of us lacked comprehension, not that I ed or against one party system but the man didn't say Nigeria must practice one party system but that if political parties and Nigerians agree on one party state so be it, so far Nigerians and political parties are not forced into it because agreement is part of democracy. The more reason why supreme court said nobody can interfere in the internal affairs of a political party like in choosing their leaders and representative because political party is an association of like minds or same ideology. |

See what these idiotic leaders are saying while Nigeria is fast becoming an international joke whose systems are failing at an impossible rate. See the recent jamb results, WAEC the same thing. Transport, health, Agricultural sectors all failing so much so that all stakeholders are crying out. Only these political clowns seem to be having a good time of it because all the do is allocate funds to garrish and poorly thought out projects and turn around and steal all the money. Is this how we will be watching these people getting bolder and bolder?

The Chinese model is based on meritocracy as a civil servant examination determines who gets nomination to contest election. In Nigeria, there is no civil service examination process before being vetted to qualify to be nominated before contesting election. If we can copy China, perfectly, it is a better democratic model than the western model of democracy. |

rinzaugustine:..it's the opposition parties that should also be blamed.. PDP, labour party for fighting each other, destabilizing, fractionalizing the party and too many Court cases also bring problems and till now they cannot settle their issues and problems in the party..so this will cause mass defection of their to a party where there is no much problems and where they are sure of winning the 2027 election .. for me independent candidacy will be a solution to all this issues and defections and it will be good for democracy |
