I rocked the "play time" sandal by Bata in secondary school. It was stole and I still bought another. Big boys with "dark tan" shoe polish in their bags.

Racoon: Bought them right from the Bata Shop in Ilorin in the 70s and 80s. They had these templates where you placed your feet and they used them to give you the best fit. Inrember running into classmates with their parents and siblings....... ![]() Will such days ever come back for Nigeria? 5 Likes |

Paulmartins26: You don't need to have attended Government school in Onitsha to know about Cortina shoes from Bata, it was the standard school shoe for all school children from the 70s and throughout the 80s in Nigeria! 1 Like 1 Share |

Mrtaye: I didn't attend a public school, and there is absolutely nothing wrong in attending one. That said, those Cortina shoes were expensive and was generally out of the reach of public school students. |
