I am not saying it's a great salary...
It's fair.

But why do the guys above have to convert to dollar and pound like that's the currency spent in Nigeria!

Vision101:

Conversion is the latest 🤣 craz in Nigeria. Mention any amount then they will convert. There's an award for it. Next statement is "Nigeria is finished"

Please say this loudly. While Nigeria has economic challenges, many of them are artificial and Nigerian-made.

Nigerians are building houses and charging rent in dollars.

Nigerians are paying school fees in Nigeria in dollars and pounds.

Nigerians are spraying dollars, euros and pounds in Nigerian parties.

Nigerians are buying clothes, shoes and necklaces in dollars.

Nigerians are even paying for professional courses in dollars. Someone told me ICAN charged them in dollars and I was flabbergasted that a professional body that should know better and advocate for the right thing to be done was charging foreign currency in Nigeria. Teacher no teach me nonsense undecided

What do I know? Even when the CBN banned dollar under Buhari, Buhari's child still sprayed dollars.

https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/7713113/buhari-daughters-caught-spraying-dollar

Nigerians pay for medical services in dollars.

Nigerians pay for wigs in dollars.

Nigerians spend dollars in election campaign. All political parties are guilty.

Even their president has not been in the country for 3 weeks now and he is obviously not spending the Naira.

What a country of foolish people who want to live like they are abroad but they are not there but they keep oppressing themselves with another man's currency 🤔 How can the naira grow? The man who gave the Nigerian policemen money was decent enough to have spent naira. How many Chinese do you see ogling over the dollar or pounds? I don't think Nigerians will be happy to find out $1=7.3 yuan. As long as a dollar is in thousands of naira, they are happy. Many people trying to japa are only lured by the conversion craze but they never ever compare to the expenses of living abroad or the cost of social amenities. Nigerians love and worship money and it's not for anything but bragging rights.

We like to look at another man's food and never like our own. If only we were competing with the abroad in infrastructure and quality of life, I would have said it's a good thing but most of the conversion to dollar is a crab in the bucket mentality to show others that they are above them. We are very confused and we need leaders who will realign our consciousness. For now, we are the black ants without a leader. Our leaders are not so different from us in this craze for dollar and anything foreign. It's psychologically demonic.

I have this my friend. He is a single tech guy. Just got a job of 550k per month. The guy was like the money no freak he dey too small.. Omo I won first slap aam say make I tell am how many people that are collecting below that amount as salary.. I just dey envy the guy... I wish I can be like him.. grin grin. Omo tech guys dey make moneyooo!!!

I rejected the same amount for an online job that was even part-time...

I was offered $400 for an online tech job and I refused it, only tech guys will understand. It takes a lot of effort to gather tech skills, mine even involved using a foreign language which I learned for so many years, so I just felt it was too small and that was why I rejected it.

E no reach $400 Dollars. Just manageable in Nigeria of today

Depending on what platform, $800 = N1.1m, half of which is N5500K. Which, as I said, is a very good salary for the guy. Actually great salary

Bro, God will continue to make u earn even higher and higher. I like testimonies like this. I also pray u favor me so my kids can have what to eat

Present day Nigeria if you want to have any savings as a married man, then say 800k

800k as a married man, I’m not sure one can save with that amount in this present economy

Although Nigeria is in a bad shape, 550k is still great. More important is that we all have to live within our means. The value of money lies in how wisely you use it to meet your needs and achieve your goals. The figure is secondary.

E.g., a good pair of shoes (not necessarily a branded original) typically starts at around 70k in Idumota. But, you can still get a good quality, custom-made pair from a local shoemaker in your neighborhood for half the price. Again, the value of money lies in your hands.

Before you spend 20k eating out at one sitting as a single guy, think about paying a caterer to cook same food for you in your house. You will get more quantity (large enough to store), better taste, more value for your money, and better hygiene. Again, the value of money lies in your hands.
Very practical

Why not first ask him what he has achieved with the money, besides paying rent and barely keeping his head above water? How many apartment complexes does he own?

A professor at bar in a public university in Nigeria earns about that figure.

Majority of combined household incomes in the country is not even up to that yet parents still provide food, shelter, clothing, educate their kids, pay bills and cater for transportation and other household expenses.

The value of money is in the hands of the beholder.

So sad that it's our reality here in Nigeria Edu-sector. Prof suppose start from 1m normally. In a country where those with 500k in their aza is not up to 1% the population, terrible standards and cost of living.... It should be much better even if it seems affordable.

About 90% of the under-40 age grade dont have thrice their rent in their aza. Compared to North African countries like Morocco and Egypt.

Those parents are feeding from air to mouth to make their kids shielded. No many succeed at shielding. Away from the salaries.

See how they drag 77k before it got paid. 15k jobs still plenty in this country.

All these realities will make 500k truly large no doubt.

It is small, too small but not bad for a start.
Rent would take 100 to 200k monthly
Same with transportation
Nothing significant left to eat and develop oneself

Baba, just forget about eating and developing yourself. Go ahead and spend all the money on rent and transport. You obviously came to this world to work for landlord and transport business owners.

Stop this your imbecilic conversion of everything Naira to Dollar.

We don't spend Dollar in Nigeria.

What you pay for a 3 bedroom apartment in the US for a month can pay for the same apartment in certain parts of Nigeria for 2 years.

It makes no sense telling us the value in Dollar.

Depends on your budget

If you live in Ajah, and working in Ikeja...1m sef will be like 200k
Why would you live in Ajah and work in Ikeja? There are literally cheaper houses closer to Ikeja than Ajah.
