Your story is very inspiring. It speaks of so much determination, resilience and confidence. It also proves that you will go all out towards personal development, which is quite impressive.

Are you married? If yes, your spouse might be better positioned to be the principal applicant. Although your skills are important, your age and educational background may not give you enough points needed to navigate this process within the shortest possible time.

Kindly go through page 1 to have more understanding of how the Canada Express Entry works.

Again, do you speak French? Do you think you can dedicate some time towards aggressively learning and attaining some level of proficiency in French?

With a resilient spirit as yours, you can achieve almost everything you set your mind towards. All the best as you begin this journey.

thank U so much for this.. because of this my education background.. I make sure I married a graduate.. my wife is a bscn a nurse..
Currently working in one of the government hospital.. and she age too is not on her side..

Wow your wife is a Nurse, you are as good as been in Canada already. Tell her to evaluate her credentials with WES and she should go write the IELTS exam asap and the pool. So many provinces are sending nominations to Nurses because it’s a high demand profession here. I hope you also know this journey is capital intensive compared to the pre-COVID era? Hit me up if you need more information or better go through page 1, all information you need is there.

This is the key for you.

So like the poster above me rightly suggested, start petting your woman grin, encourage her to prepare for and write IELTS, also evaluate her Nursing degree. All the best

Hey guys,

I’m in a very tricky situation and I need some advice from people here from different walks of life before I make my decision.

I’m currently in Canada 26 years of age, and in a serious dilemma.

I’m currently trying to get PR and it seems I have a couple of options with its own uncertainty pros and cons, and I need advice from you guys after getting advice from a lawyer.

My base CRS points is 476

And I have a few things I can do to circumvent this low score:

1. Foreign Work Experience:
I have 7 months of valid work experience in Tech in Nigeria, but that’s the problem… it’s just 7 months and I need a full year. But I also did NYSC and have access to a person at my PPA that can give me reference letter, and have all documents I need to my NYSC experience. But I wasn’t paid for the NYSC except the government pay of 33k. My lawyer said NYSC can’t be used to claim foreign experience but I’ve heard stories of people using theirs. So I wanted to ask if anyone here has successfully used NYSC **Recently** to get PR. This would bring my points to a respectable 526.

2. Marriage
This I really don’t want to do, but I have a child coming (Canadian citizen) with a woman here. The pregnancy was a mistake but she wants a child so she kept it and I also agreed to help out. I don’t like her enough to marry her, but seeing my circumstances I might be forced to. She really likes me and I think I can convince her to a marriage, but this is not something I would like to do ATALL. Lawyer said it’s my best chance since we already have a kid together, it’s almost a slam shut case I would get it with this route. But the girl is very bipolar, she can switch up at any moment and lawyer warned me that her switching up could also hurt my chances as much as it can help my chances.

3. Refugee
This is the worst option, as I went to undergrad school in the UK, did nysc, worked in Nigeria and moved to Canada. It will be very hard to argue that I had issues, but mehn I need anything at this point.

4. Go back home & get the remaining 5 months experience
We all know how Nigeria is, this is a death choice, I’m basically giving up with this option. But I have 7 months of foreign experience right now, I can go back to Nigeria and find work for the remaining 5 months (gods willing) and then apply with my points at 536, and I will have to wait for ITA in Nigeria. This is most likely the safest option but the most mentally devastating one.

Please folks I NEED your advice as I only have 8-9 months left in Canada, time is running out and I need something to use an option and stick to it, but I’m not sure which route to go.

Thank you!

I think the 1 year NYSC experience is your best of the listed options. I know people that used NYSC without issues as it’s paid legitimate work and qualifies for what ircc requires IMO. what exactly did u do during NYSC?
One person I know last year explained(LOE) that she was paid by a ministry in the government when they requested for payslips, she’s in Canada now.
Can you get reference letter from ur exPPA without their mention of NYSC? Simply stating your roles in ircc format and gross salary of 33k X12months.
Then add the 7 months experience in tech too.
526 is an enviable score….no slack baba.

Hello everyone, I’ve got an M.A. in Theatre Arts, a B.A. in Literature, and an HND in Business . All my work experience is in management. I’m looking to apply for PNP, but I noticed a lot of them require your education to match the job experience you’re claiming. Does anyone know if I can still go ahead with the application even though my highest degree (MA) does not relate to the field but I have an HND that matches the job. Thank you

During my NYSC it was kind of a data analyst role, I just helped them keep the numbering system of corpers valid. It was in a local government secretariat. So it was government work. The exact same scenario as the person you mentioned. I can get them to help with the format, but the payment part I’m not too sure. Omo this lawyer wan charge me $10k for marriage or refugee claim application o. I shout enter NairalandšŸ˜‚. I have done all my past visas my self, I’ve never used an agent. But this time na potentially the last time I’ll ever need to do visa application again and na the main one so I need to do it right. I’m scared.

Guys im in a serious pickle and scared at the moment.

So when i was 20 i applied for study permit. At the time i was doing nysc and working in tech (entry level) but in my SOP. I inly said that i was doing NYSC. I didnt mention that i worked as i didnt want them to know i was doing nysc and working because i was supposed to be working in my PPA but was running it as i needed tech experience.

In my work permit i also didnt declare this work experience as i had work lined up in canada so i just used that and didnt bother using anything else as i thought it didnt matter.

Now in my pr application i declared the experience i did in nigeria. I added reference letter, offer letter and a picture of me and my colleagues at work. Im now seeing that people are getting misrepresentation ban for what i did and i dont know what to do.

Im in canada and all my experience shows progress and i have the documents for them. I make a good living here now and have a son on the way. How could i make such a silly mistake that can ruin my life. Has anyone else gone through this successfully? Should I submit an LOE or just wait from word from IRCC?

Funny thing is I received my study permit at the work place. I have proof from VFS canada that my port was sent to the work address im claiming for work experience. this all is just making me super paranoid.

What was the outcome of this PR application?

OMG! ITA wasted just like that? You could have taken your chances and prepare a solid explanation just in case of an eventual ADR.

In all, I wish you good luck.

A new category was just created for Education in February, and there have been no draws yet for the Education Category.

To start Evaluate your PGDE and BSc with WES or one of the other evaluating bodies. and write IELTS and try to max out your IELTS so you can get the maximum points.

Please I need advice. I and my husband are considering Canada PR. I am 33 years and will be the principal with a masters degree in biochemistry and I want to enter the pool using the healthcare category for medical technologist and other related professions. I have ordered for ECA evaluation and written IELTS ( reading 8.5, Listening 8, Speaking 8, writing 7). My issue is this, my husband is a medical doctor and 37yrs, the process of evaluating his credentials is too tasking and it’s not through WES, we are planning not to claim points for his education but can he write ielts and we claim points for that? I checked my score online with this variable and I had 428, which is very low. Please what can we do to increase our chances? I’ve tried learning French and it’s not easy o

You need to max out IELTS to begin with. Although, your present score is good but you will need
L-8.5, R-8.0, W-7.5 and S-7.5 to get all the possible points.

I'm 34 and currently on 469, also awaiting healthcare draws. Unfortunately, my IELTS will expire on 24th of this month. Just hoping for some miracle.

You will have to find it oo.

Single applicant, IELTS L-8.5, R-9.0, W-7.5, S-7.5, 3yrs+ work experience, MSc, Sibling in Canada.

That was my first attempt on IELTS. I had seriously hoped it will be my only. Now, because of IRCC's pattern of uncertainty, I may have to write again.

So my sister, you have to consider writing again. It's all part of the process.

$10 na downpayment for town house in Alberta, no slack ooo baba. Especially in this inflation.
Whatever advise/counsel Lawyer will offer, you can get it here trust me.
Your tech experience after NYSC also shows career progression from data analysis you did for local government, so include that 7months too. Basically, you don’t need any professional or packaging sef.
Who I mentioned previously worked in a government hospital during NYsC and used it to get category based draw. They asked for payslips and bank deposits in ADR, and she provided it. She dey Canada now.

Speaking of lawyers, they only know as much as the cases they have dealt with….I’ve learnt this sad truth from a close friends experience.
Something else the lawyer won’t tell u or doesn’t know is that marriage when you’re in Canada on TRV and eventual spousal application takes really long time dis days as IRCC is cracking down on fraud marriages meant to game the system. So the scrutiny your application will get even with a child involve will be more than EE. Not to talk of the possibility the lady will hold it over your head for as long as God knows.

Claiming asylum with a Canadian child already won’t fly, cos impregnating a citizen already shows desperation if you objectively look at it through the lens of Refugee processing officers.
It’s not worth tainting your record for life & potentially ruining your chances of seeing your child grow.
**Lawyer Layi just wants to make an easy buck just like travel agents.
Feel free to reach out.

You’re joking right?

Someone should correct me if I’m wrong, I think you can use WES for your husband. They will only evaluate it as bachelors degree, it’s going to be less stress, faster and cheaper than medical board. Besides the difference between bachelors and professional degree for spouse is like 2 points or so.
Better still WES and ask them if they can just evaluate his degree as he doesn’t plan to practice immediately.
All the best
