Tope Fasua: You Can Get A Meal For ₦2,500 In Lekki: Tinubu's Aide Defends Naira (15926 Views)

Nnamdipapa:look at this funny soul, you brought up question of if I have paid taxes for the past five years? So you should be sure to do well to prove evidence of you paying taxes! Call me any name if I fail to follow through ! Mr Nigerians should suffer in silence |
TONYE001(m): 6:05am On Apr 09 |
Nnamdipapa: This statement of yours reeks of insensitivity, and, perhaps, arrogance. There are lots of people that are starving in Nigeria, sir. Many are doing their very best but to no avail. What's the minimum wage? Divide this by 30 and you'll figure out the percentage of Nigerians that can pay N2,500 for a plate of food. I saw your first post where you compared life abroad with life at home. Again, that post shows that you do not understand how society works, how economics works. That too shows how insensitive you are to the plights of Nigerians living in Nigeria. I don't know the kind of life you lived while home. I don't know if your finances were enough to cushion you from the corrosive Nigerian streets or if you suffered the streets like many. I don't know. But do not belittle the everyday sufferings of the common man here in Nigeria, please. That PhD holder that made that post is an embarrassment to education in general. 4 Likes |

TONYE001: To be frank with you, I don't care about the plights of others,I am neither the government nor their parents who brought them into the world, it is a selfish dog-eat-dog world that we live in and I will repeat, It is your own damn default if you starve in Nigeria. I have witness first hand many poor people who continually make poor choices not in their best interest and would never listen to advice. I have lost the ability to care about others except those in my inner family circle. I was born into abject poverty, some days, I chewed raw garri mixed with palm oil, slept on mats the first 17years of my life, early in life, I was determined to do whatever it takes to turn my life around instead of complaining and looking for where to point accusing fingers. I started work at 14 too. As an adult above 20, if you are not able to feed in Nigeria, It is your own DAMN fault. |

Hohaiiiode: You suggested posting taxes paid, I did not so I will bite and follow your suggestions. A little hint, I pay salaries of more than 600k per months to staffs in Nigeria and looking to expand to over a million a month before end of the year. I am waiting for evidence of your taxes so I can post mine in dollars per month. |

geoworldedu: To learn barbing in Canada, You will need a loan of 16,000$ in a year. The same to become a mechanic. In Nigeria these skills are almost free to learn |

miketayo: Average salary in the US is $5k you say? You are watching to many American movies and I laugh in swahilli at your crass ignorance. I worked the banking system abroad for half a decade and saw millions of people living on overdrafts and credit cards. I will actually prefer Ghana to the US at this stage. Most in the US live on debts with zero savings in the . You don't realize $5k is a huge money in the US. 1 Like |

Gerrard59: It is BlackBell not Blackwell. And NOOOOOO. 2500 CANNOT get you a proper meal (except if you view pepper soup as one) at BlackBell restaurant. Their menu/portions is quite expensive and small. As at last year, when I was still buying rice from them, it was over 5k-7k with protein and takeaway pack, plus VAT. My colleague always bought spaghetti and a portion was over 4k, so imagine the price in 2025. You can check their website here: https://www.blackbellng.com/meals?location=2bc057a9-bbae-4cc5-9686-47beb7351447

etokhana: I guess this PhD holder just wanted to say something but he chose the wrong subject matter. Minimum wage is #70,000. With the way the economy is I'm guessing having to eat three square meal for one who earns minimum wage with money not coming from another extenral source is surely grace from God. If you can one just twice eating of a decent meal of #1500 each is surely a blessing from God as well. But with the reality on ground. This is the sacrifice he is talking about.... You can afford just a meal with #1500 for 30 days which amounts to #45,000. You'll figure out how to balance yourself with the rest. This is just for a single person without no one depending on him. That is the reality on ground. |

Nnamdipapa:Were you forced to pay for mortgages, may be you are doing it for investment, are you paying for mortgages for feeding over there. Here you wouldn't have the Chance for mortgage payment. Again do you earn 70,000 Naira minimum wage monthly |
tj2018: 7:34am On Apr 09 |
You are just as foolish as this Tope Guys. tell us how much you earn. Nnamdipapa: |
Nnamdipapa(m): 7:35am On Apr 09 |
patrickcollins: Rent/ mortgages are similar. Rent means paying other people's mortgages. Are you planning on living homeless on the streets? |

folake4u: for most of 2019 to 2022/23, when i needed to feed the kids sharp sharp i would pop into CR and buy their mean for n500, n600 it slowly started rising in price till it reached 1k. now I enter CR and the meal is like 4k plus. i can't deal. |
patrickcollins: 7:39am On Apr 09 |
Nnamdipapa:Oga no one working abroad relies on mortgage for rent payment unless you are buying a property, once you are legally working the minimum wage over there covers your rent, here in Nigeria 70k minimum wage can't even feed one let alone cater for other expenses |
TONYE001(m): 7:40am On Apr 09 |
Nnamdipapa: My quote wasn't a plead for you to care about the plights of others. Just don't be insensitive - this is a basal requirement of humanity. With the tone of this post, further engagements with you may be unproductive, so I'll just drop it here. In your spare time though, try to research on how economics works in different societies... especially in developed and underdeveloped societies. If you do, you'll know better than directly comparing cost of living between the two as you did in your first post. Cheers. 3 Likes |

jmoore:Na you dey eat 3 times daily. People hav adjusted to a 0-1-0 since PMB regime. Go to hospitals, you will see that almost half of the beds in the general wards are occupied by people having Ulcer complications. Those wey hunger want kill cannot afford 3 triangle meals |
Nnamdipapa(m): 7:45am On Apr 09 |
patrickcollins: You need to learn and listen to people with real life experiences, If you don't pay a mortgage, you must pay your rents which are very similar in amount to mortgages abroad. |

Nnamdipapa:A barber earns 6.4 million naira monthly in the USA. A barber in Nigeria earns maximum of 100k. Can you spot the non comparable differences? The fact that you can easily get a loan to learn that barbing over there is even a plus in itself. Here people get loans to eat one meal a day, not even to learn a skill. How can an hungry brain learn a skill? |
Nnamdipapa(m): 8:11am On Apr 09 |
geoworldedu: More lies. I live abroad 15 years, I worked in banks for 5 years and see everyone's pay check. No barber earn 6.4mill monthly abroad except you are a business owner with employees. Tell those lies to people living in Nigeria and not me. |

malali:Yes, I know the difference, the first denotes the actual meaning while the later is implied or metaphorically speaking. However, the fact still remains that it is difficult to separate eating three times a day and paying school fees, because most children growing up do actually eat three times a day and this is typical of my 14 year old girl. 1 Like |
