Why not upgrade the existing primary health centres nation wide?

I wonder who is advising this people sef.

Exactly. I dare say 90% of the PHCs in Nigeria are in urgent need of maintenance, upgrade and supplies.

Fixing them to the highest standard would be more beneficial than establishing thousands upon thousands more which may suffer the same fate after few years...

If you Obi ers read the post, you would've released that is also mentioned upgrading existing tertiary institutions to handle trauma, oncology and infectious disease.

Now go back to your IPOB caves!

What %age of the population is in need of severe medical emergencies?

We're talking about the normal Nigerian common diseases. And do you know some treatments are now greatly subsidised in Nigeria?

Nigeria is far better!

Yes, Nigeria is "far better " with far lower life expectancy rate which is hugely influenced by access and quality of health care services.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

So access to healthcare is the only metric that determines life expectancy?

Jagaban o!

At least we dey go PHC and we dey see doctor!

My relative wey go UK too some weeks to see doctor!

Doctors wey we dey see after some hours waiting wey we dey complain!

I have been on waiting list for a particular scan for months. Nigeria is very very bad, but health-wise, far better than UK or US. I can’t say about other Western nations. With the amount of Nigerian health professionals that have migrated to US and UK, you begin to wonder what would happen to US and UK citizens if Nigerian health professionals return home. The facilities are there on an average level, but the professionals to use it are scares

How long is the waiting list over there for ordinary ission?

How long is the waiting list to do simple scans?

Don’t patients sleep on the corridors of hospitals for days because of no room to it them?

Why did the current government headed by Keir Starmer announce plans to strip the NHS of his independence and put it under the control of the politicians, the Health Secretary Mr. Wes Streeting?

Poor comprehension is the bane of people like you. Our concern is that health care institutions at the grassroot level pan-Nigeria is in a moribund state and needs urgent maintenance and supplies. Why build more when existing ones cannot effectively serve their purpose?

If our PHCs are fully functional, our tertiary health institutions would be decluttered and effectively serve their purpose.

And you must be thoroughly hallucinating to think I'm an Obi er. So anyone who criticizes the president's policy or offers a better solution now automatically becomes an Obidient. How low and confused can you go?

Hope they would be staffed, funded and equipped with the basic things. And not just a building inside one bush.

8,800 health centres? Average of 11 Health centres per local government. Huumm
Hope Doctors and nurses will be willing to stay there.

I also work in a private clinic here in London and we offer same day appointment, like many other private clinics do, just have your money or go the waiting line for NHS hospitals.

Establishment is not the problem. The problem are the thieves and criminals called doctor and nurse who will steal government resources, to go and stock up their death center private hospital. Where they can kill people at will. Government need more regulation in the healthcare industry, make it harder for people to just open private hospital and absolutely ban nurses from owning one. It must be certified doctors with nothing less than 30yrs experience and even PhD with lecturing experience. They must also go through annual review by their governing board.

If they don’t like it, let them go abroad and establish their death center so when they kill people they can get life in prison. Abroad it takes a lot for a doctor to have private practice. You constantly have to go through several hurdles and many doctors come together to establish one or they themselves with very large hospitals who provide them all supplies, so they get salary.
