That sounds good. Hope they would be staffed, funded and equipped with the basic things. And not just a building inside one bush. 10 Likes |

Forget about establishing new health centers. Governments at all levels should concentrate on equipping and ensuring the functionality of already existing Primary Health Centers. Women and children still die from cholera, dysentery, malaria, typhoid, and antenatal complications, and PHCs should be the first port of call. 9 Likes |

Why on earth would he do this? The hospitals that we have on ground lack basic infrastructure and adequate manpower. Why create more? Who advices these people? Why not start by curbing the brain drain in the healthcare industry? This is a crisis that noone is paying attention to? 2 Likes |

That's good Hello everyone, I am looking to source chemical mutagens such as Colchicine, Ethyl Methanesulfonate (EMS), and Sodium Azide, as well as different varieties of sesame seeds. If you have any information on where to get these in Nigeria or can recommend reputable suppliers, I would greatly appreciate your guidance. Thank you in advance for your help! |

Humans are the resource not buildings. Will the HC be properly manned and supplied. What happened to the existing ones? It's not by reading a long speech. I won't invest in a building in some Bush somewhere 1 Like |

Antichristian2: Here, meaning Nigeria.....yes and quality of care and services are way higher in comparison to Nigeria....in Nigeria, when you find yourself in a severe medical emergency, you will realize Nigeria is not cheaper. |

President Bola Tinubu's approval of over 8,800 new Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across Nigeria cite raises concerns about feasibility and resource allocation. With Nigeria comprising 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, this plan averages approximately 236 new PHCs per state. Given that only about 20% of the existing 34,000 PHCs are fully functional, prioritizing the renovation and proper equipping of current facilities might be more effective. Focusing on enhancing a smaller number of well-equipped, modern centers could ensure better healthcare delivery and resource utilization, rather than potentially diverting attention and funds across numerous new projects. 1 Like |

Mindlog: What %age of the population is in need of severe medical emergencies? We're talking about the normal Nigerian common diseases. And do you know some treatments are now greatly subsidised in Nigeria? Nigeria is far better! |
AerialMapper: 9:07am On Apr 06 |
This is a good development; at least he can save money and go to one of them instead of flying to for treatment. ... On another note.. How will this work out? PHCs are under the purview of LG so how is the FG doing this. Will they provide intervention funds for these PHCs? Many of the current PHCs are under-staffed, no drugs, and most are dilapidated. Why build more instead of rehabilitating the existing ones. Where will you get the staff? |
