This morning, I arrived at the office around 9 AM. After asking around, I was directed to a lady at a desk. I informed her that I was there for my biometrics, and she inquired whether I had made my payments online. I confirmed that I had, and she collected my file and directed me to another office.

In that office, a young man received my file and informed me that I needed to pay a production fee of 5,000 Naira. I expressed my surprise, I told him that I had not been informed about this additional payment and that I had previously made inquiries through the Nigerian Immigration official handle on Instagram regarding the necessary documents and procedures, and I was not made aware of any such fees.

When he asked how I had made my payments, I explained that I had done so through the website. However, he insisted that I needed to pay the production fee because ports are not produced at this location; they are sent from Enugu. I then reminded him that I had already paid a processing fee of 2,700 Naira during my online payment, which is noted in my file.
He insisted still that if I don’t pay I won’t be able to capture then I told him that I don’t have any money on me and except my transport fare home and I begged him to allow me sit that my legs are hurting Only then did he allow me go out to sit, i sat outside resting, few mins later he came out with my file and handed it over to that same lady that took me in then walked back to his office I jejely went to ask to lady if I will be able capture then she said I should wait they will call me when it gets to my turn 😅 I was like thank God o in my mind. After about and hour I was called upon to capture, few mins later I was done I collected my confirmation slip and went home

Don't mind him,Thank God you were able to capture, that's to show you how corrupt most of this officers are.

Any little opportunity the get,the want to turn it into a money making scheme, that's how some unsuspecting person will go ahead and pay.

Just give them 6-8 weeks from today if you didn't get a text from them, then go back and check in their office.

All the best to you.

Vivian, wether you missed your appointment date or not,you have the right within a six months time frame to capture.

Walk in there like the Boss, greet them and when asked of any Agent, tell them you ed online and you came for capturing, they will be painted but can't help it,but direct you where you will go to for that, when you get to the front desk, you will see where others are writing their names,do same and wait for your name to be called.

You will submit your documents, and it will be vetted after which you proceed for capturing, when asked to pay for anything,be bold in a polite way,and turn the offer down, letting them know you are on budget with what is obtainable at the official website.

After capturing, make sure to get your Collection slip, keep it safe oooooo..... Because you won't be able to take your port without it.

All the best to you.

Which office did you choose?

BONUS TIP: Make sure to go with all your documents ( original and photocopy) submit the photocopy, they will ask for the originals for sight seeing, after which it will be returned to you.

If you encounter any issues, you can always reach out.

Please I ed for my port online and made payment on the 24th of February. Today being 4/03/25 makes it eight days since I made payment, but my application is still saying waiting for approval and I already booked my appointment for tomorrow 05/03/2025. I called someone from Abuja NIS using the number I saw on their office website, because that is supposed to be my capturing office, he said it means they have not vetted the application and I have to wait for the application to be vetted before I can come for capturing. However I wasn’t satisfied with this so I called the general NIS line on the email they sent to me after I made payment and the officer that picked said I can go tomorrow and ask for physical vetting and do the capturing, but if am not in a hurry I can wait for it to be approved online. Please what do you advise I do because NIS office in Abuja is far from me and I wouldn’t like taking transport to there and they will tell me to go back and wait for it to be approved online. Please I need your advice on this.

Ps: am not in a hurry too

The vetting can be done offline too. Just ask for Servicom unit when you get there, look for someone and lay your complaints to. They will get it sorted out,so that you can capture.

I suggest you go on time.

Do give us ,when you come back.

Hi guys. I said I was gonna update this but I totally forgot. I apologise for the delay

I went back to check if my port was ready after exactly four weeks. That was on 11th November. It was not ready. Different things and engagements didn't let me go back until January. Of course, it was ready by then. It was when I collected my port that I discovered that it had been issued since 14th November. That's exactly one month from date of capture.

Not a single person attempted to extort me or try to get me to make any extra payment.

So, if you wanna DIY, please don't hesitate.

senseilekxzy:
I had to go and find my details in order to contribute to this thread because I got inspiration and "ginger" from here. I want to share my DIY experience using the Ikorodu port office. I can tell you for free that some people living in Ikorodu don't even know there's a port office there.

I applied for my renewal online and ed all ing documents. I used a port maker app to edit my picture to the right spec. I made payment using the Paystack option and I was able to complete it using bank transfer. There's a 2k processing fee, so total amount I paid was 52k. I submitted my application and got the "application received" email. I did all this on Friday 11th October, 2024 and I went ahead to book appointment for Monday 14th October, 2024. I was given a 3pm slot.

On Monday morning, I received an email that my application had been approved and that I could go ahead to book appointment. Me wey don book appointment since Friday. I didn't know I should have waited for approval before printing application form. So I printed the vetted application form and carried along with my receipt and all my ing documents in case they decide to ask.

I got there around 3:05pm. I greeted the officers at the gate and they asked whether I was there for collection or capturing. I said it was for capturing and I was told to go inside. At the entrance to the building, another officer asked if I paid online or someone was "in charge" of my application. I said it was the former and he said I should go to SERVICOM. The officer who attended to me at the SERVICOM unit asked for my documents and I gave him the application form, receipt and appointment slip. He asked to see my expired port. I had forgotten to make a photocopy of it. I went outside to get it done. I stapled everything together and went back inside to give them to him. He looked over everything and he told me to go and wait outside for me to be called.

I sat down under the pavillion there and was thinking it was some delay tactic I read they play on people who do DIY. Mind you, I was the only one there. The whole place was empty. I was sha pressing my phone. A few minutes went by and I saw one guy walking into the building. He was there for capturing. Not long after, the officer who attended to me came to call my name and directed me to the capturing room. The guy who walked in earlier was seated in front of the camera. When he was done, I sat down to capture too. The officer capturing me even cracked a joke about how many plots of land I'll give him when he saw that I'm from Ikorodu. He asked questions to confirm my details. He took my picture and biometric and wrote a number on a card and gave it to me. I guess I'm to bring that for collection.

I left the place and when I checked my time, it was 3:32pm. I didn't spend up to 30 minutes there. I'll probably just go there next week Monday to see if my port is ready.

I wrote this just in case it helps someone who's searching for information online just like I did before finding this thread. I'll keep it in mind to write an update when I collect my port.

Did my application online, went for processing at Alausa January 6.

Up until now, checking the portal for my status I keep seeing "Pending production".

Its 3 months already. I am tempted to go there and ask what's going on.

Anyone else with a similar experience?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Sorry for laughing man🙌

The tracking is kind of formalities, especially that last one,it can only tick if you get your port, they don't always update it,as others update automatically after your capturing, you see the reason why the last one is like that.

Your port has been ready,go with your collection slip, and drop update for us.

Okay so I need to commend the Alausa office for their proffessionalism. I ed January 3rd, went for the appointment January 6th.

The portal rejected my birth certificate (older than the cutoff year for NPC cert) so i went to Igbosere to get an affidavit.

This time the portal placed it on "pending verification" or something like that. On getting to the Alausa around 9 am, I noticed a small crowd of 10-15 people in the main lobby. A middle-aged man came up to me, got my slip and went in with my affidavit and within 10 mins came back, told me to refresh the portal. I did and it came as "Vetted".

He told me to go outside to reprint, I did, came back to him after he directed me to the capturing room. The capturing took less than 15 mins and the man too there was all smiles. Gave me my slip and told me to have a nice day. All less than 30 mins in total.

Meaning I did my biometrics, capturing and got my collection slip that same day.

For the collection, I was waiting endlessly for the portal to change the final progess as "printed" so i could go not knowing that it has already been printed 2 weeks after. I went yesterday, the small office by the right, told the woman i came for collection.

She told me to snap my slip, submitted same and waited. After about 30 mins my name was called and my port was given.

"Have a nice day" was all she asked of me cheesy

NOBODY extorted me

All right Boss. All the best to you! That's Nigeria for you, glad you have experienced it now, during renewal it won't be a new thing for you again.

Just like My own Boss will always advise us,In whatever you do,just make sure to have a small travel history,it doesn't matter before; but it does now if you must travel to big countries now, because the image of Nigeria has been battered worldwide, and any carrier of the port is seen as a parasite.

Having a some travel history will prove you are a traveller, and not just one seeking for a means of escape. All the best to you 🤝.

Good day all.

1) Please, can one apply for a fresh port for a baby online?
2) Will the process be smooth in Lagos (probably Alausa office)?
3) Also, can the parents also be the guarantor? I think they always ask for guarantors for international port.
4) What is the time frame and how much is the current price for both online and offline?

Thank you

Hi everyone, can I renew my port even though it still has a few months before expiry? I travel frequently, sometimes on short notice for extended periods, and I want to avoid it expiring while I’m abroad.

Any would be appreciated.

Thanks

(2) Alausa port Office is efficient.

(3) A guarantor is not required for minors or kids but a written and signed letter of consent from both parents of the minor is highly required. Moreover, a guarantor is no longer a requirement for Nigerian port.

(4) Give it 8 weeks or a little more for it to be ready for pickup. Provided that there are no issues regarding your port application.
In 2025, a Nigerian international port costs ₦50,000 for a 32-page port and ₦100,000 for a 64-page port, with the 64-page option offering 10-year validity.
