#5 million naira for delivery fee and cs may be on the high side. the op may be referring to a very standard hospital.

Dou the price for emergency delivery and cs is now on the high side in most private and teaching hospital but all the same to make it not difficult for you , make provision of say #1million naira for an average standard hospital.

Reason I said so looking at the major areas you wil spend money

1 wife may need multiple bags of blood if necessary. the more bags she consume , the more the expenses
2 baby may need bags of blood
3 Baby may be oxygen deficient and need to be placed under oxygen.
4 baby may need to be placed in incubator for some days. incubator fee alone is high
5 Baby may need to be placed under photo light to clear off jaundice and the more days baby stays under it, the more money you pay.
6 medication you wil pay for mother and baby while in the hospital
7 injection/drugs hospital may not have, you wil be ask to go purchase it outside. these are expensive medication. mind you, you buy for mother and child.
8. You wil pay for bed space
9 food hospital wil give the.mother
10 Light bill or diesel money to power their gen, they wil transfer some on you
11. post CS test wife wil do to check for infection and occasional dressing of where she was operated on.

This is just an average amount you spend while they are still in the hospital not to talk of post delivery care expenses.

Talking from my experience. I hear ween.

How you go dey born wetin you no fit train, how that one take concern imf una no sha wan take responsibility of anything

You clearly have no clue how these international organizations gives governments conditions just because they want to give you loan. Policies like agreeing to remove subsidy if you want loan and there are many of these policies that Nigerians are not ready for because there are no jobs or benefits from the government despite the vast resources.

How can an organization tell government to widen tax net when the country is struggling to feed? DYR

LMAO, You are singing to a choirmember. Health insurance many times doesnt cover everything. Sometmes have waiting periods where approval has to be gotten. A lady was in labour in a private hospital and it wasnt going too okay and had to.do C.S , the. insurance company was delaying to approve. A major one, dey play

The husband was told he would foot the bill if the appoval does not come

Insurance that sometimes would not pay the facility. Nigerians too are fond of insurance fraud.
It's very important you know what's covered and what's not. At I know the in the plan I use, CS is one of the basic things covered.
I work in an organization where customers are not always right. Now imagine what they'd do to another organization they paid annual to that delays approval? Once a staff complain about any delays, you're a goner.

I agree. In fact I will say have 20 million at least. But see everybody is not like me. I am in terroristic fear of
1_ being broke
2_ begging.

The moment you beg someone just forget that relationship or friendship. It's gone forever. That person will avoid you like a plague

A man whose wife is pregnant should have nothing less than N5M in his - Nigerian doctor says

A Nigerian doctor, Ada Ujaligwa has advised
married men whose wives are pregnant, to have
at least N5m in preparation for the birth.

She also advised married women seeking to get
pregnant to have at least N1m.

"As a married woman who wants to get pregnant,
let there be at least 1M in your savings
that you will not touch. As a married man whose
wife is pregnant, have nothing less than 5M in
your savings in preparation for the birth," She wrote.

"How can you be so dependent on your husband
financially that if he refuses to pay for your
Caesarian section you will be stranded. How can you leave yourself at his mercy. From before you even get pregnant, hold the money for any kind of delivery gidigbam,"she added.

Didn't have up to 30k when my wife was in labour. After delivery, a friend paid all hospital bills without me asking.

From that delivery day, money keep flowing into my and we've never lacked for a single day till date and the baby is close to 2 years.

Don't allow social media people put pressure on you.

How much did her father has when her mother was pregnant

That might be her father's preference. It doesn't have to also be her preference.

And I can see some people don't know the condition of things in the economy now

No surgery cost less than 1 million

This is a big fat lie... There are still surgeries of 200,000 naira.

CS, appendectomy and other minor surgeries.

Maybe you only know of centres (not necessarily the best) that charges high.

Just like you knowing only expensive restaurants (not necessarily the best food).
AdeifofGod: 12:08am On Feb 28
The post is cool without price tags.
shol9044: 4:54am On Feb 28
Go and for NHIS, Cs would not cost more than 50k out of pocket.
Or better still , the wife should not overeat during pregnancy to avoid overweight babies that require CS in the first place
