There is serious insecurity on the highways both day and night, so may unpoliced/underpoliced corridors on Nigerian highways where non state actors operate without much disturbance from security agents.

The funny thing is there are places like that in the Southwest, South South, North West, North East, South East, etc. The few places soldiers and policemen mount road blocks, they just use them to extort motorist and then leave after some hours.

When I was serving in the NorthWest, one guy that came from Maiduguri told us about how nobody dares travel the Maiduguri highway once it is 4pm because the entire stretch of the road belongs to Boko Haram that time till the next morning. Not even military convoy will dare use the road within that period
