One more promise broken, maybe. They were living apart and he probably promised he would soon resign from the City job, only to extend his contract YET again.

That is partly why SAF retired after his wife’s sister died. He had broken his promise far too many times already.

P.S There is a pattern I have observed of long suffering women who have sacrificed their own career and time ing their husbands, who then rebel and exit the marriage when they hit 50-60 years, usually after 20-30 years together.

There is so much jobbing and boboing that a person can take.
