Nothing to see here. Pullback is normal in the market, though the volume spike might cause concern. ositadima1:

KarlTom: I certainly am my brother. Who can help make sense of these NBS figures. This is what I think: In 2022, the country's GDP was around 180trn, then in 2024, it's being measured by NBS as 198trn. It looks like they're aren't doing any real measurements. They just sit in their air conditioned offices and churn out figures that have almost zero correlation with reality. Between 2022 and 2024, there's hardly any good or service that hasn't increased by at least 50%. Start with garri: 2022 was #700 per paint, 2024 was #2800 per paint (300%) Rice: 100% Now to oil:2022: about 500m barrels produced at say $80 and #460 to the USD, that's roughly 20trn. 2024: about 550m barrels produced at say $75 dollars and #1500 to the USD, that's roughly 65trn. So oil alone has added 45trn Then check MTNN revenue in 2022 as a matter of fact, check NSE30 revenue in 2022 vs 2024 NSE30 alone added over 5trn if not close to N10trn. I think whatever they're measuring that's placing the economy as the 4th or 5th largest on the continent needs a thorough inspection, cos the same devaluation that they think has forced down the GDP numbers in dollar has doubled or in some cases quadrupled the values of all the goods and services that make up the GDP. Then inflation, at the height of the naira crash in February 2024 when dollar was touching 1900, there was no food item that had not doubled in price compared to February 2023 when USD was 730. So why were they reporting food inflation at 35%? What kind of items make up their basket, abi which store were they making the purchases from? It basically feels like NBS figures are not at all connected to the economy, they just churn out whatever they feel like, or perhaps whatever a thwarted computer algorithm spins out. Maybe I'm missing something, someone WHO KNOWS better can enlighten. 4 Likes |

How can I spend a whole day buying a damn stock, only to see my money returned at the end of the trading session! A whole day wasted. Just because I don't want to load more insurance stocks that would have given me 10%. So painful. |

Audacius: A remark on Bull from Burundi. I first heard that from Mercy or Bovali, I've forgotten which. To my awareness, I'm the only person after her to have playfully used it once in a post. 'From Burundi' is not common, is what I mean, and suggest should be struck off, leaving only Bull as described. ![]() ![]() |

Sunrisepebble: Export? On normal production seasons, Malaysian Palm Olein are shipped to the coast of West Africa at competitive prices. Ghana is not excluded. I wonder where the Ghanaian company exports to for USD/EUR. Do you have info about that? Have you looked at this Acquisition? Are they not overpaying for that Asset? 2 Likes |

Streetinvestor2: I used you for illustration to someone today.I can't the person I quoted again. It's very painful.sometimes one can buy what he doesn't want in order not to miss the bull. I wanted to encourage you to buy chams with the money no matter the price but you know better than me in this game. Many will still fall for this next week.Dont sell your stock if you are not sure of getting another stock of your choice. 1 Like 1 Share |

Sunrisepebble: Good Analysis. Also Insiders have skin in the Game. 5 yrs YoY Compounded Growth Rate is 70% It's fundamentally sound business with solid position. I have some units I have been buying monthly, WAC is 38 Naira. My Target price is 60 Naira. But I'm not selling even at my target price. When you are in a happy position to own a high quality business like that, there's nothing else to do, than to watch the paint dry. It's a coffee can Investment for me. 1 Like |

I suspect you are conflating nominal GDP with real GDP. Nominal GDP -- the raw GDP number -- is sensitive to inflation, and appears to be what you are thinking about. Real GDP adjusts the nominal one for inflation using something called the GDP deflator, so its growth is less remarkable but speaks to actual underlying progress in the economy. Believe it or not, NBS is a top-notch organization. Their website, though... awesomeJ: 1 Like |

Sunrisepebble: They had to bring in Olumekun back from retirement to be the CEO. The Indian guy did not give any forecast when he ed 5 years ago, I suspected something wss not normal when Gupta was absent at the facts behind the figures. One will need to see what the Q1 and Q2 result will be like. 3 Likes |

Streetinvestor2: I prefer him to Obabori, it was Obabori that spoke at the facts behind the figures and was the one that presented the forecast. Olumekun is reserved compared to mouthed Obabori. Olumekun and Obabori worked together at Red Star Express. I don't know why they didn't renew Gupta's contract |
