Well he used to buy shares for us , i.e my siblings and mum, when we were kids( the days of share certificates and dividends being sent as cheques to post office boxes). My dad was retired in 2010 but he was still able to send me and my siblings to very good institutions for our undergrad years with his investments. Out of all of us my elder sister is the one that is more enlightened and active in the market partly due to her educational background in finance. To answer your question only two out of the rest of the kids like to discuss investment with him. The shares he got for me was what I used to sponsor myself abroad for my masters (He told me that I should pay for my masters myself that during his time his parents only sent him to secondary school and that he has fulfilled his duty by sending me to Uni for undergrad cheesy ) and for that I am very grateful because it was the way he ed on responsibility of the investments to me.
The last statement and the fact that I kept on getting dividends every year from GTB that were quite reasonable is what piqued my interest in the capital market. In trying to be more informed a google search made me stumble on this page. I usually ask him what he thinks about some of the discussions here and we converse about it.
ojesymsym:
Papa and son de discuss and argue investments, make God give us grace to fit raise up our kids to get interest in matters that relate to investments o...

Khudos to you for following in the step... If you do not mind me asking, are all your siblings and mumsy also interested in things like this? What do you think he did that made you (guys) also interested in investment considering it is not a normal discussion on the street among every dick and harry.

But you didn't notice chams is back to full bid? People were quick to report the offers but not the current full bids. Let's fear GOD please...

Like I said let's be objective this 2025. Don't discourage those doing all they can for people to have funds in the portfolios

The last I checked we are all CEOs of our wallets

Pls Mega, when did I discuss chams with you? You must be overweight on chamsgrin. But it's full bid is neither a vindication of its faithfuls nor the voiding of the opinion of its sceptics. There is a certain bullish, perhaps new year euphoria blowing over low priced stocks. And would chams be left behind when that tide is lifting other boats, including worse than chams?

Buying insurance is like doing raw without protection.
New year bliss to all who are truthful without fear or favors.

THE BIG SMART GUY

More like a one night stand or a hook up thing, it is not advisable to go raw.

You can only go raw for a long term or serious affair

This is tricky; but let me try:
The quantum of capital and how long you are patient and able to wait could be key factors to consider:

These are my take:
a. International Breweries would be for longer term recovery and higher profit margin/returns in the long term. That stocks can easily clock N30-N40 in the long term after the recovery/turnaround and that would be huge gain considering the current price

b. Nigerian Breweries would be for middle term growth and moderate profit margin/returns in the middle term. I think it can clock N50-N70 or thereabout in the middle/long term.

IB is great if I can wait 1yr + ?

FUGAZ: Acronym for First Bank, UBA, GTCO, Accesscorp and Zenith. Conisdered highly capitalizaed banks.

MH: Monkey hunting/ Monkey hunter – An allegation/accusation that a stock is being manipulated either by calls to buy or sell off. The "monkey hunter" then profits by buying more or selling off their holdings when prices move in their favour.
Background: From story of a businessman who goes to a village to buy monkeys. He buys at different intervals at ever higher prices thus creating a market for monkeys along with artificial scarcity. He ends up selling off all the monkeys back to the villagers who hoped there will always be market for monkey sale. He disappears after selling at the highest price and all the villagers had monkeys with no one to sell to, losing all their money in the bid. Author of the real story unknown. JIJO: Jump in, Jump out. Term used by traders. Means buying a stock and selling at the very shortest term especially as soon as it makes some gains.

Tashere Units: Very few numbers of shares bought or left unsold. Amount depends on the person. Such shares are either bought or left in the portfolio to have a "foot in the door”, e.g. so as not to have to process e-dividend all over again or just to see how the stock will perform.

Loot: A gloating or bragging term for large profit from short term trade. A jackpot from JIJO. (As described by @Zendi)

Bull from Burundi: A way to describe noticeable general rise in the prices of stocks. An apparent play on the words bull and Burundi.

Stockfish: The newest NSEMPA term. (c. 2024) Used to denote a stock that is considered as having lost value so much that it is nearly worthless and a trap for whoever buys it. A play on shares as a financial instrument and fish in the market.

I may not be able to say exactly how long it would take for IB to turn around.
But based on historical facts, its industry performance and potentials and being a member of a global brand (AB InBev), the world's largest brewer, I think it as very good prospects in the future or long term (you are the one that can determine how ''long'' the long term you are willing to invest and wait).

No vex . please shed more light on the bolded.

To me, It simply means take profit when it's green and don't plunge it all back into similar stock. You see all those stocks rising together, don't plunge it all back into them if you do then there was no need selling in the first place.

How will you sell a stock on demand to buy another stock on demand?

It is a missed called which no one will pick.

Stocks on full bids have destinations

well , you can if the first stock has done quite some mileage .

Stocks with significant prior gains (like Prestige at 200%) might have less potential upside compared to newer companies (like CHAMS) in their early stages.

I appreciate and respect your focus and killer instincts on CCHAMS!
When one is cock sure about a specific stocks, you go for it full throttle. Some believe in spreading their investments, while some believe in narrowing doing to a sure best stocks and going all out to maximize the gains, like you have done.
Wish you and all the best of luck!

Anyone who wants to eat a frog should look for a big one so when they call you a frog eater ,you will be able to answer.

Selling prestige and consolidated Hallmark for CHAMS has a reason even though all are money spinning stocks
