I am still learning the ropes but my dad advised me to get this NB amongst a few others this year, his reasoning was simple "son always look for the best performing stock in the sector, if it is trading below others in the same sector then it is undervalued and is a good bargain"

Thank you for this.
Goodness and mercy shall follow you and those who give good tips on stocks in good faith because they want to help others to make it too.
ProphetUtuocha has also called out FCMB; Locotrader also called out CHAMS.
Where is prophetutocha? Any news from OANDO?

lol... Oga street don put fear for your body abi

The rule of thumb is never to fall to the temptation of letting them access to private details about you. Always make public announcements like oga ema that you only respond to questions on nairaland threads. If the person claims that it is too private to discuss on a public forum, then they should quote you on a dead thread and you can respond.

Do these and you will most likely be fine.

@street, I may be wrong, but I doubt if people can use your IP to trace you. Most ISPs in Naija use dynamic IPs to allocate IP to s, so it makes little sense to start using IP to track. Even then, it will require sophisticated equipment, which I believe only DSS has a semblance of in Nigeria.

What I believe happened in your case is that you responded to a private message and then your email got exposed to the , from there they used it to search for you on social media and then since you are a business man, your details are more likely to be easy to find from there.

The other alternative will be that since it was an old moniker, maybe in the early days you left when you were still innocent you left personnal details about yourself, eg phone number. These guys can be very patient and will take their time to go through your early messages and build a profile of your person.
The IP thing is very possible by criminals. Then out of excitement sometimes we loose guard and drop clues that make us vulnerable .

But you didn't notice chams is back to full bid? People were quick to report the offers but not the current full bids. Let's fear GOD please...

Like I said let's be objective this 2025. Don't discourage those doing all they can for people to have funds in the portfolios

Don't waste your time on that moniker. He has practically fought with almost everybody on this platform. You can just do a little background check on his moniker and you will see what I am talking about. My advice to him is to change his ways, behaviour and personal relationship with people. It is only by then that he can have absolute rest of mind without anybody tracking him. I wonder what he has that people are tracking him up and down? maybe those that he has fought with before sha grin. I saw him calling you a crim.ina.l just because your moniker is old and idle, without decently finding out why. You have been good with your responses so far, and I encourage you to keep to it.

On Chams, you have not done anything bad by your analysis/criticisms, that is why this thread was created. Due to Loco's stance on Chams, I made some background checks and discover that they are somehow linked with the powers to be, therefore, it is most likely they will be favoured by this government. Thereafter, I bought close to 4m units. I rest my case for now.

I may have to consider this Chams.

Once again, thank you for the great words of wisdom this early 2025.
I wish perfect peace unto all those who seek, work and act for peace in 2025! Shalom!

Kindly enlightened me. Can we consider a stock fetching 100% profit as JoJo stock?

The simple enlightenment is that the sector is on the move and anything insurance is on a gainers chart. Yeah, you may have πŸ’― but, that doesn't change it from jijo. There is no result or fundamental backing up the rise. But, sentiment is moving every insurance stock. One have to be careful at entry and exit points. When a sector is on the march the good, the bad and ugly follow suit. It is called the bandwagon effect. I hope I have enlightened you. That is just the way I see it.

Your dad has given you a golden secret and tip to make good money in the stocks market.
Some stocks that fit his theory would include: FCMB, UBA (Banking), Honeywell (FMCG), Intl Brew (Breweries), Unity Bank (Banking; but under technical suspension), Oando (Oil and Gas; but very controversial), MTNN (Telecoms) etc.

I think the attraction in Oando now is not price appreciation but the corporate action of share redistribution. If the ratios being speculated materialize, and with no price adjustment and no dilution as is the case with bonus, then you are looking at substantial gains.

Some bonus fit hook you for mouth

Not really sure if some of the aforementioned names fit his theory as you described. But he did mention that our Banking stocks are highly undervalued, his reason being, a foreigner with USD and the weak Naira can literally come and buy up our banks which he says should be avoided by all means(He said and I quote "when a stock is undervalued due to the manipulation that occurs, the people that value it will purchase and delist it...why should Dangote and Bua be trading at such values and Lafarge be like that?"wink . For Banks he loves his Zenith and GTB and has decided to increase his stake in UBA based on their last dividends. I follow him but we do not necessarily agree on everything . I love Access due to its low entry point but he doesn't.
He doesn't want anything to do with Oando even if he is offered for free cheesy (Although I have a few units in it for JIJO which I learnt from you guys)

Honeywell
* Honeywell was valued at N7.33 book value.........safe margin ...
* Investdata valued it @N12 based on current performance and near future value......
Analysts outside the country valued it at around 30......
This could be some of the reasons driving the share price of Honeywell..........in addition to a rumour likely going around........ tongue

I agree with some of the points raised by your dad; but you should not worry too much about foreigners coming to buy the banks. Whenever there is a foreign bid for a bank, the market would react and the share price will most likely increase; and one can make good gains from the buy-out offer price e.g. WAPCO and FMN are good examples. Unless your dad's concern is to remain a shareholder in the company e.g. for future dividends.

I’m with you in this too. Hoping it’ll trade back around N40.

I alerted some people here when I bought the traded rights on the exchange at 26.50 for a of only 1kobo. Foreign investors love buying it. Let’s see the impact of the money they’ve raised on the financials, the losses were still very bad last quarter.

This is tricky; but let me try:
The quantum of capital and how long you are patient and able to wait could be key factors to consider:

These are my take:
a. International Breweries would be for longer term recovery and higher profit margin/returns in the long term. That stocks can easily clock N30-N40 in the long term after the recovery/turnaround and that would be huge gain considering the current price

b. Nigerian Breweries would be for middle term growth and moderate profit margin/returns in the middle term. I think it can clock N50-N70 or thereabout in the middle/long term.
