I read with amusement the above topic here on Nairaland this evening and couldn't help but laughed at the worst joke of the year by this group of clowns. What Nigeria should have asked them is to list one or two companies under their association that the above information can be verified from. Now if it is a shipping company association, Importer association or an Exporter association that came together to fix their worker's salaries, then we can accept it with a pinch of salt but for ordinary agents to come out and say they just signed #200k as a minimum wage for their worker is a fat and disgraceful lie. Most of these agents don't even pay their staffs . They are placed on commission on job done. Are they exporters, importers or production companies? They offer services which anyone should be able to do and can do but due to corruption from the customs, they make the process a bit rigorous and that is why they come in as 3rd parties. Can you now tell me where they are planning to raise the #200k minimum wage for their workers? Are they secretly working with customs to inflate figures, claims or what? Can we ask them what they do? They help real business people to clear or forward their goods to the port and are paid for the services alone. So, is it from their services cost they are looking at paying #200k minimum wage? Very funny and deluded humans. Although I don't know why they came out with this outrageous information. Their aim for doing this is for what purpose? Are they trying to create unrest or pushing the NLC to think they accepted less? If I am lying, can any forwarded here confirm if they can truly pay #70k minimum wage not to talk of #200k? Or are they different entities that are fronting for drug pushers? Shipping companies we know, shipping agents are just 3rd parties. They can't be making more money than the real players then where will they get the #200k minimum wage? Are we all jokers in this country? 1 Like |

press9jatv:Why not answer the basic question. Who exactly are the "maritime agency", government or private entities? If they are private, do they have regular workers with actual employment contracts and why would private companies association announce a minimum wage review. 2 Likes |
