Objective and open minded intervention all round.
A member here who last engaged next and had issues with him borrowed some money from me with a promise to pay back within the week since last year.
He wanted to borrow much more but I only offered what I knew wouldn't hurt me too much to lose. I was already skeptical and he called me to reassure me it was him.
He had already tried to set the stage earlier borrowing in little amount claiming scarcity of naira and wanting to pay extra back even though I rejected it that it was against my faith to collect interest on money much to his annoyance.
Perhaps someone anticipating extra more payment would have eventually parted with more money.
I've been fortunate to interact with the best of clients that I wouldn't have had opportunity to interact with and they are very accessible, understanding and willing to see growth of others. I wish I could show more appreciation but have to respect privacy and not abuse privilege.
Having said that, there are sometimes the 1% that are regular Nigerian and being a potential home owner doesn't make them saints which was why I emphasized on open hearing from all parties and not be quick to assume a vendor is always at fault.
I've had unpleasant experience with two other people that had issues with next here many years back which makes me wonder if there was something that makes them allegedly fall prey and inability to do anything legally with the so much confidence next exhibits.
I still believe this platform is relatively effective in getting reviews for due diligence with the fear of loss of future patronage deterring contractors.
We've had small minded contractors fallen for instant gratification with clients monies and lost opportunities to make consistent multiplefolds of it over time but others wouldn't even be aware of it was offline or on another platform.
Clients should always ask questions and do due diligence and even after that and something doesn't seem right, do what's in their own interest.

@raymondFirstborn both party should find a way to sort issues out. Dragging eachother on here is not appropriate. And also, this particular thread has been here since 2015. Those who started this thread with oga mufutau know themselves with those who has kept this thread active since 2015. Beware of the new comers coming to post sudden advert on this thread especially if you’re a potential client. Ask questions and recommendations from those that have been on this thread for long before you deal with anyone. Else, you might fall victim of what you won’t like. Majority of the names in this list started this thread together with @mufutau55 who created this thread and have built this thread since 2015 that everyone is now enjoying and benefiting from.

On this thread, it is common for clients to think they can always get away with cheating on their employee as long as they are the one who employed them but that is not the case this time. You assured someone your site was safe for his tools and they have all been stolen and you think you can come here to guilt trip anyone to stand with you? This is what the majority of clients have done to damage many professionals' reputations here.

One fool came out to say that I insulted him, but he forgot to mention that my money is still with him and that I cursed the hell out of him because he would not pay my remaining amount.

Hatesin is another man who wonders about threads insulting everyone like a man but yet he feels he has the right to talk to a professional here anyhow he wants.

I don't usually work on site. I do most of my fabrications at my workshop and then move with workers to site. Depending on the nature of the job, I can sleep over or leave same day while my workers do the installation.

Honourable, look at the situation this way:

If the tradesperson ed you that your materials have been stolen at his business premises, what would be your expectations?

My expectations would include the tradesperson replacing the stolen materials through their insurance or from their pocket. The insurance (security) of any business premises is the responsibility of the "ed" owner.

From your own , you are the resident contractor at that site. You are responsible to provide insurance (security) for all goods stored overnight. Three cases of theft are alleged to have been reported to you. It is your responsibility to investigate the thefts and take appropriate actions which could include instructing that no tools should be stored overnight at site and further to advise all that any tools and materials stored overnight are at owners risk.

From your own , you have failed to do the above. As the resident contractor, your insurance is liable for any theft at site for goods and materials stored overnight.

You should sit him down over a cold drink and arrive at a reasonable compensation for his missing tools.

I am sorry, but you have not managed your site to the standard expected from a multi million project.

Meanwhile since the incident of theft. Adedward has not visited the site since March till now. He only sent his boys in month of March. But personally he hasn't made any effort to recover any of the missing materials. No police report from him nothing.

Even when I promised to rent tools for him , to continue he said he won't continue till buy new tools. Generator and cutting machine.

But as a resident and direct engineer on site, it's ur duty to report the incident to the police and other law enforcement agencies. Even if adedward repoted the incident on ur behalf, u would still be invited by the police as the original onsite engineer.

This adedward is a third party contractor working temporary on a project and am sure the owner of the project doesn't know who the fabricator was. In fact before he can enter the estate, permission need be sought from you to know if u really hired him to work for you on that site.

Still, other occupants might challenge him if u r not on site as to know y he's within the estate except they saw him working.

U guys should settle this issue within ur self.

I once hired an iron bender nd his team nd before they came back the next day, all left over offcut iron rod nd ring stolen from the site. I have no choice than to buy additional materials for them to complete their job.
