Although, it's been in development for almost two years now. I was expecting shooting maybe December or early next year.

HBO rightly known they can't be skipping GOT content for a whole year. So they got to accelerate things. We should have had two prequels already showing by now if not for HBO canceling BLOOD MOON at the last minute, after a whole pilot episode was already filmed for $30mn.

The security was just weird.

The king himself could have easily been assassinated by a bow.

These guys literally walked right past the King and his guards at night.

The security was way too lax.

They were even walking freely around the hallway as if no guards were on night shift.

But I think their boldness plus the fact that they came as ratcatchers meant no one batted an eyelid

Same here, I was expecting release date would be late 2025, it's not like HBO don't have other cashcows

I shared a pic from Blood moon here once, it showed Naomi Watts as a Lannister ancestor in Casterly Rock, too bad the pilot never aired

The Hedge Knight happens after Dance of The Dragons and before Game of Thrones. It's in between both shows.
80 yrs after HOTD and 90 years before Game of Thrones. So that effectively covers the 170 yr span.

The oldest character in Game of Thrones was Maester Aemon Targaryen. He is widely known to be a hundred year old (102). He's the Elder brother to Aegon V Targaryen whom this story is centred on. The initial name for this series is Dunk and Egg. A play on Ser Duncan the Tall and Aegon Targaryen.
So how come this show is now set over a hundred years before Game of Thrones.

I'm not sure about that yet. Earlier this month HBO and Max chief executive Casey Bloys said Sam Levinson was writing and polishing the script. Bloys mentioned it slated for 2025 alongside Derry (the prequel TV show to the IT horror films). Original plan was to release this year but the strikes delayed it.

So if he finishes writing by September, filming can start late 2024 or early 2025 and release in Fall next year. Although, there's still a possibility of the show delaying into 2026 but I highly doubt it would be allowed that long cos it would mean a 4 year gap between the previous season. Also, it's basically a drama, unlike other prestigious HBO shows with bigger sets and CGI requirements. So it would require lesser months for filming to post-production.

The only major reason I'm considering it possibly delayed till 2026 is because of the schedule of the actors and their newfound success after the show with Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer and Jacob Elordi getting attached to more projects.
