badukpop Go is very much difficult with so many moves to mak and asians especially chinese and koreans are better in it.....i play both games. But trust me chess isnt overrated. When you watch grandmasters like hikaru/ carlsen play you go know chess is also on another level.

Chess is overly hyped honestly. I used to think that Chess is a game for smartest people not untill I came accross GO. If you're a chess player, tru Playing GO for once, then you'll know that Chess is a kid game. Infact learning GO self , it's a task that only the brave and the determined mind can scale through.

Me, I love draught so much. We call it checkers here. I can play t in the dream and was in a tournament once.

yes it is true with two reasons,(1) the queen is most powerful and can move anywhere without restrictions (2)the queen can be killed by a mere pawn but the king cannot be killed but checkmated,this two realities are the sad truth about women

Bringing chess into real life scenarios is incredibly more difficult than playing it on a board, but that is what everyone hope to do; learn on the board and play it in real life.

During the WW2, very strong chess players were hired to become code breakers. This alone tells you how chess can improve your IQ, pattern recognition, spatial ability and so much more(even the ones you listed already).

And like I said, if before you came up with this post, you tried learning chess and you couldn’t grab the concept, it only tells a lot about your IQ.

when I see people talk down on the game of chess and hype some other assumed to be similar board games, I laugh.. it only tells me one of two things...

1) they only see with one eye
2) they lack critical thinking skills
3) they are simply dumb and their brain isn't capable to learn the beautiful game....

instead of you to see it as being "overhyped", it's better to see it as not being into it... chess is one of the greatest and oldest board games and it wasn't even brought from the West as some people claimed it was... no other board games comes close when it comes to analysis, theory, similarities to reality, lessons to be learnt from the game... it's not that they hate chess, they just hate that they can't grasp the concept and can't become better at it, so instead of to simply accept this fact, they hate it and their comments makes them sound foolish... Not everyone is a fan of football, but that doesn't mean a person who isn't a fan should talk down on the sport saying it's overrated... what you choose to do with what you love is solely your business... not everyone play football to make money from it or to probably "change the world" and so is chess... 1. King Richard of England was killed by a French soldier whose job was actually to cook food for the fighting men ( real life). And his soldiers of different ranks retreated back to England. And guess what, his queen was also alive too.

2. Below is a example of pawns checkmating a king.
I have won countless similar endgame myself.
