Somebody else came from Warri at no cost and got the job. That was almost #8M. Another sent someone from Nnewi and said he gave the person #5k for transportation, but he did not get the job because he didn’t have Tilcor which was my choice as compared to other roofing sheets.
It is the cost of doing business.

However my issue with this particular member here was the arrogance from demanding this transportation fee payment up front like it was an entitlement.

Every contractor knows you'll probably get to execute 3 (or less) out of every 10 quotations you send. Why will any sensible contractor risk his life and waste his money on something with such a low probability of success?

The person from Warri came and secured the job. He did it , and did not collect any upfront advance fee (seems more like an advanced fee fraud).
It’s totally up to the vendor to do it or not. Nobody is forcing anyone.
Note Warri to core East is more expensive in of transportation when compared with Lagos to the same place.
Maybe its the Nigeria concept but,
Private businesses that operate emergency ambulance here are familiar with the concept .
When a 911 operator dispatches an emergency alert to the general ambulance services dashboard, all operators ( private business) would see the request. Many would move at the same time.
Anyone that gets to the scene first, picks up the patient(victim). The rest ambulances that come afterwards would return empty. No one pays them. It is the cost of doing business. An ambulance usually would have at least 3 staff, add that to the cost of gas for such heavy truck . people are paid per hour here .
Nigeria will get there soon, however some people are already using that strategy, like the roofing company that came from Warri.

our building project foundation was completed approximated 8-months ago then we paused to repack our pockets.

now our blocks are hand-mould using dangote cement and removing approximately 40-blocks per bag using only sharp-sand and stone-dust.

now we were putting in the pillars, and we noticed, unlike few months ago when the blocks were strong almost like a rock, now with the rains, it's still strong, but not as strong as it used to. though workers still swear it's so much strong but personally, i know it isn't as strong as they used to be.

i want to know if the strength would return when it dries after the rains.

is it normal for blocks to get a bit soft/weak during rainy season, then return back to their full original strength after the rainy season.

Before I'm accused of entitlement, I give painters that I don't share in their payment money for site inspection and sometimes personally add to their payment if I feel it's low and they collected it out of no choice or to please me.

I was arguing with the pop guy cos of the measurements he gave me.... I told him why is it more than the total sqm of the building and he said cos they multiply the total sqm of the building with the height of the building... Please how true is this?

For Pop ceiling: The width & length is measured = W × L.
For screeding, the wall is usually measured: The width × height = W × H. (Above ground level)

Screeding Measurements is usually more than Pop ceiling Measurements.
