No it is not.
It is either L x B , L xH or
B x H.
No multiplication with a third factor. Because if you multiply by a third factor, you would be looking at volume and not area (m3 not m2).
As is you are screening something that looks like a “box” 3D, instead of something that looks like just one side of a “plain board” 2D.

I think what he actually meant to say was the total length of all the walls multiplied by the height, and not "total sqm of the building" by height.

No sir, wall is like ceiling and floor. All have four sides, two of the sides are equal. So area of rectangular shape applies to all of them.(L×B)

For convenience, you could measure your walls one by one and ADD the sizes to get the total for a room.

we are saying same thing the length in your case should be the height of the wall so it can be the sum of L × b of all the walls. Then you can substract openings like windows and and doors from the total
