somehow: Not entirely correct , it’s possible your local income stream is ahead of inflation and devaluation People on fixed salary will struggle For people abroad they are also coping with unprecedented inflation , and local cost of building materials goes up in correlation with dollar/Fc increase also But always better to have some assets , investment or savings in FC 2 Likes |

Please I intend to use Original Stucco for parlour, dining, stairs, lounge and public areas and my painter said he will be importing them from his country (cote d'ivoire) at 80k per bucket (Original Italian Stucco). Seems very expensive to me, what do you guys think? He said it's the best type of stucco as most of the ones sold here are substandard.

rmx: Definitely, there would always be exceptions here and there and this was captured in my comment. If you are based in Nigeria but have funds/investments in some instruments that are outside the influence of the current naira debacle, then you're safe. Not just salary earners, some businesses within Nigeria don't have the luxury of FC. 1 Like |

sonnie10: I don't get you. How can inflation happening in Nigeria take half of the value of your $1k saved outside Nigeria or how do you mean? 1 Like 1 Share |

I think it's better for pricing and quotation be based on dollars so that we won't have to be updating quotation with the ever changing prices.

Reeefe:Using the first picture, the structure in the parlour without door or window is likely the kitchen right? The dinning must be to the kitchen which l don't see when you will fit that. Anyways, below is my little idea. Edit to your taste. The bedsitter is not bad.

diordaves:We no go see am sir. I think a more realistic approach is stocking up on stocks that aren't perishable ahead. |
Reeefe(m): 2:31pm On Nov 03, 2022 |
kalu61: thanks I think it's same thing u drew. the structure without door amd window like u described is the kitchen and I'm thinking an open kitchen to the side so the dining n kitchen are together to create a bigger usable space.

Reeefe:The visitors toilet in inside. How do you take waste from kitchen out, through dinning? I think the kitchen should have the exit door to the backyard and if possible a door to the lobby. |

kalu61: what I have there is a kitchen and a dining together somehow. and the dining having a door to the backyard. this gives us a bigger kitchen as there won't be need to remove a 3ft door space. so u get a bigger kitchen usable space. as for the v.toilet a chamber can channel the waste to the backyard 1 Like |

somehow:There is inflation here too, just that people are paid weekly/biweekly so they don’t really have to wait long before their is replenished. Energy prices especially have really gone up. Petrol use to be $1. 90 but now it’s above $3 per gallon. Electricity bill has almost doubled., if you live in a single family house here and pay less than $350 a month, that is cheap. Raise in home value has impacted tax amount. Even groceries have gone up, in most instances 20- 30%. All these take big chunks off savings. 1 Like |

sonnie10: Still can't take 50% of the value of $1k in Nigeria. What is US inflation figure compared to that of Nigeria? The last time I checked, it was 8.2% while that of Nigeria is about 20%+ 1 Like |

somehow:I am not comparing Nigeria and US inflation rate. Rather I am trying to show the current reality why someone who could afford to save $1k monthly in US as at 2021 might not be able to do so today. Cost of everything now is really high. Human instinct is first about survival. The priority is to take care of one’s immediate need. Those struggling to meet their basic needs because of the current inflation here cannot have enough savings to spare. 6 Likes |

sonnie10: Well I'm actually talking about the value of whatever you manage to send to Nigeria. It will get more done for you here compared to this time last year. It's actually not easy in most countries of the world. 1 Like |
sonnie10: 5:36pm On Nov 03, 2022 |
somehow:In practical , someone who was able to send $1k monthly before might only be able to send $400 now, if their income didn’t change. Even with high exchange rate now, the high cost of building materials would negatively affect what ever gain made. 4 Likes |

sonnie10:This debate is unnecessary, who even sending $1k monthly before he be lucky if he can still send $400. How about nothing? if he or she struggling to pay his bills. Is hard for people to understand this not until you move here permanently, then they know the difference between kaki and leather. That $100 someone send, do they know how many hours that person worked to get that money. No one I repeat give anyone money here you must go and put in those hours to make money for yourself. 4 Likes |
