Sir, Cocoa House is very very safe. It was built by competent people at a time when standards were strictly adhered to. I would not have any problems doing anything in Cocoa House, but would worry myself sick going inside a modern 6 storey building. The vibrations from the collapsed building would have most likely caused issues on the other structures.

That’s why I’ll never step or sit inside any of the multifloor structures in and around Alaba.

We are used to all these theatrics bro. I did more than all these on Lekki Gardens Building Collapse on this same thread in 2016.

Just like Lekki Gardens, the approval was not for the number of floors built.

Were they sleeping when 6 new floors were added? Can 6 floors be added to 15 floors in 4 months?

For the records, almost all Lagos buildings has been served contravention notice, sealed, marked for demolition and unsealed at a point in time.

It doesn’t take the Alausa rogues long time to come up with a defense.

Even the structural engineers shouldn’t be exonerated if truly we understand the role of professionals in construction.

You don’t ask for cube test samples. You take samples during the concrete pour by yourself.

Let’s digress a bit. What happen to stage certification before concrete pour?

I once shared that I did a project here that we cannot pour concrete until the MEP consultant, Structural Engineers/Consultant and LSMTL guys had certified the job.

So the consultant want to sit in his office and wait for concrete cubes to be sent to him.

We hardly do our job with utmost integrity.

I weep for this country everyday.

This kind of issues cannot be easily cleared out of the system, most building collapse occurs due to the client claiming they are the sole of the project especially developer's that have test built two or three structures you cannot easily confuse such people they are wrong.. Especially this kind of client

Kudos to the structural Engineers for terminating his consulting services because most engr will want to have their foot print on such job to collect more jobs..

The client will b like those Engr na nonsense we are on the 21 floor, unfortunately he's not here to be sued or question he's likely to be a deadload as well.

Most time's the client will be on the contractor neck to deliver the job , the structural Engineer is not available on site to sign the note book, the contractor call the client back and the client say you can go ahead , structural engineer reach site they gve him specially made cube of grade 50 self they prepared for him to crush on lab because he no go fail..

Seneriao 2 building sold out investors still coming in more money consult your structural guy he's saying what you don't want to hear consult another person they tell you why not, but the first designer ed you guys have optimised this building because of cost to the last straw because QS said its too expensive than budget more money no land..

As a project manager working on all this high-rise residential mix used apartment I understand during foundation 60% sold out already amounting to money able to buy some local government

Our problems here are small money small problem. These towers structural problems cant be fixed most of the time, you just have to bring it down and start all over again.

Blame game is well known behavior by authorities ..I dont know how long it takes to add 6 floors.they are currently itting that on air...Man been arrested and offcourse the end we may not know...he would be released soon like other rich men

One of the numerous reasons I find it difficult buying a house from most of these developers.

Profit focus is 99% their worry and will do everything in their power to see to that including cutting corners
