One of the characteristics that makes us Nigerians is that we always want to avoid problems. We like to avoid stress. When confronted with problems we should solve, we will always ask for an alternative route. In fact this is the reason we don't have good leaders. If we avoid to solve simple problems in our own lives, how will we be able to solve problems in our children's lives, in our community, in the workplace or in the larger society?

What we should know is that these unsolved problems will confront us again in future and by then we may not have enough time to respond.

Instead of us to correct the date of birth on our NIN, we will come online to ask for an alternative route and some people will suggest that we process our application in states that does not require NIN.

Instead of us to regularise our surname to match our husband's and those of our children, we will come online to ask for those in the same situation and they will tell us they have been travelling without problems.

I know that it is not always easy. In fact it is always stressful and comes with some financial burden. But that while an alternative route may be available today, you may not have enough time to respond in future.

When confronted with problems, let us endeavour to solve them as soon as possible.

I won't encourage DIY in ibadan if u need ur port urgently

God afternoon, pls I saw this on immigration website. Wld I be able to complete application if I get any one of the following. And where is best for DIY, Lagos, Abk or Ib?

Letter of identification from Local Government/State of origin or residence or National Identity Card OR Letter of introduction for employees of government as a Nigerian citizen stating Service Number, Length of Service and Designation/Rank. The letter must be accompanied with a valid staff identity card;

Either DIY or not . I dont think Ibadan is d best option
I will advice u go to less populated area like ilorin,osogbo and some parts of north

I would have give you a guys number that work at nin headquarter in abuja. They are the one responsible for dropping of name faster and doing it but his problem be that you will need to go there one on one and stay on his neck else many immigration officer also give documents to him and stay on his neck which means competitions.

Good from you on DIY route at alausa. I'm also waiting for a text message for capturing. I submitted all my documents for vetting on June 17.

Chief I also submitted my document, file created and stamped on the 22 of June, still waiting for a text for capturing at Alausa DIY route

Long story short by 12:05pm, I collected my new port (renewal). No hassle, no extortion.

Currently at Port Harcourt office trying to get some information about capturing, having submitted my application since last week Thursday.

on my visit to Port Harcourt office today, was at the NIS office by past eight but they didn't start work till 10.am. Saw officers before then running around and attending to their clients. Met an officer to make inquiries about not having being called for interview & capturing despite having submitted my application since last week Thursday. He was surprised and told me I should have been sent a text, asked about the servicom desk and he told me they weren't on seat as at then (past . Met another officer who took down our names (those for interview) to go confirm if they were on their list. Met the officer after having waited for a while and he told me my name wasn't on their list and I should the officer assisting me and was asked to leave their office. I was surprised, called the NIS complaint number for assistance, they weren't helpful as I expected. Told me to go to the servicom desk but the NIS security officer at the entrance to the building kept preventing or willing to direct me, I was told by the officer on the phone from NIS complaint line to give the phone to the security at the entrance so as to speak with him. That didn't help cus the security gave back my phone to me ignoring the officer on the other end. The officer from the NIS complaint line told me to wait outside that he was going to get back to me. I waited for a couple of minutes without any and i Just left disappointed ..

I am going back for round 2 which is capturing anytime I received their text...I have their names but I don't think that's necessary..the rot is from their boss downwards...

I apply for renewal online and make payment of 26,000 and printed the receipt and acknowledgement slips coupled with some documents...

On Getting to Ikoyi office the crowd is much, and I was told to come back in 4weeks to submit my documents...

So I called someone he referred me to someone and their, he collected 10,000..
Now I v done capturing.....waiting for port collect

I submitted my forms at Alausa today. Took less than two hours for the whole process. Guarantor's NIN was not required.

I was told that I'll get an SMS in less than 10 working days for data capture. So fingers crossed �

Get to the place before 2pm with your doc. Don't stay under the canopy outside , tell any officer at the entrance of the main office you are going to servicom desk. Arrange all the doc listed on this thread earlier, one of the ladies will check and arrange in a brown file for you. Also ensure you write application letter addressed to the CG of NIS and add to ur doc too. Once they give you the NIS file back with your originals in it, just find your way to the room before the capturing room and drop ur file for vetting. After that you will be asked to come back for capturing after a week .

Please help me. I mistakenly selected FCT instead of Lagos for my 2 kids and I've paid. I didn't even noticed till my wife got to Ikoyi for biometric yesterday. The officer that attended to her said she should go to Abuja or repay. Is there no other way round like paying a token for a change of location?
