Thanks for being civil in your response. I understand you were dwelling on the provision for server(s) in the INEC budget. I am focused on the technicality of the word - SERVER. If INEC budgeted for a server and did not buy it, that was another kettle of fish to be subject to scrutiny by the auditor.

But for people to be saying that because the card readers sent data to a computer in a remote location(which i believe did not hold true anyway) qualifies such remote computer system to be called a server is a no no. that activity DOES NOT qualify any computer system to be called a SERVER.

Thanks for sharing knowledge. I hardly make comments here despite being a keen nairaland follower for over a decade and this is due to the unruly manner people tend to push their opinions.

This might just be another post election tribunal case but the underlying problems of Nigeria are still very evident here. While the court’s decision on the elections outcome is being waited upon, a separate litigation should begin, one that will make deep inquiries on the misuse of funds on INEC’s part and unravel the lies being peddled ...facts deduced in this case can even assist in the primary election case.

You are wrong sir. That machine DOES NOT need a server to operate. The database can be internalised on it; If you are claiming it is communicating with a database based on the cloud, where did they get the internet network to drive it in various remote locations. I expect you to know that there are lots of architecture and infrastructures that will go into it to take care of security, scalability, performance etc., if that is the route they wanted to go (i.e. communicating with cloud-based database).

First of all, INEC hasn’t even explained their own infrastructure to help us scrutinize performance and output better. I am relying on the INEC budget where servers for the voting purpose was mentioned. Also, if the data was internalized in the machine chips, then if there is a case of a non-working machine, another can be given for accreditation (provision). The standalone reader used by banks such as the Chip Authentication Program to a good extent still provides the bank with enough allowances to run a backroom authorization and counter authorization, arguably this means a superior level of backroom monitoring and control is in place. Dataware houses and servers are custom built to optimize performance. Considering the nature of information and usage, one would expect the chosen architecture to tick all the right boxes in of accessibility, scalability and security. It must have been custom built. It is not my problem who won what, I don’t even believe in manually inputting figures on a card reader after voting due to the high risk of human error but still yet, they owe us a sound and intelligent response for the sake of posterity. Many years from now we will look back at the sort of excuses we have swallowed due to lack of transparency and we will understand how we played a role in it happening.

PHILipu1:

Can card readers tell the candidate that each voter did vote for?
Were card readers not just for accreditation?
Was there electronic voting for Atiku to get his result in a server?

If he is talking about the number of voters that did accreditation, I may accept that he got the number from the accreditation server or so but the votes he allocate to himself is what I don't know how he got that because there was no electronic voting.

First of all, I did not delve into their tribunal case or whatever allegation is being made. However, saying there is no server is where my concerns were raised. The least requirement or responsibility of INEC as an unbiased umpire is to release the ‘level of back information’ it has relating to the elections. Like the number of authorized voters going by the card reader accreditation. The way I see it is, if such issues are not resolved and checkmated, we will have same debates next 4 years and our democracy will never grow.

I’m not saying such information is enough to declare a winner but they should understand the citizens know better and come up with superior twists. “Our servers crashed, our backup failed to perform and at such we can’t retrieve enough information” this is a better excuse and then focus will be drawn towards getting the right infrastructure next time. Shikena!

Please can Nigerians be less ignorant of key issues. As much as you want your preferred candidate to remain in power, doing so at the expense of common sense is very risky. The result is what is being experienced in Nigeria presently.

It is basic knowledge that a card reader CANNOT operate in isolation. There is a sort of server or backroom infrastructure it communicates with. This infrastructure maybe cloud or locally hosted. It balances the system of sending and receiving information. I’m currently doing a data program and this is the most basic information.

In a sane society....regardless whether APC or PDP, the INEC Official that said they don’t have a server would have been persecuted immediately. He will be rendered useless and unfit for any employment position.

But no! Instead some people are here screaming on top of their gross ignorance. It’s like a bank telling you your ATM card or the machine operates on its own, without servers. The world laughs at you.

I’m not surprised tho, after all a baboon just swallowed some amount of money. Ignorance is worse than poverty. A poor man can be rich, but a foolish man will most likely die in his Ignorance.

The fed civil service workers are terrible people. I don't blame them, they will play with your destiny. When I did the process 2012, it was quite frustrating, I had to resort to pulling strings with certain connections.

Don't believe the hype bro, get a skill, develop over the next few years...invest in your future that way. if you studied a professional course then look for a small private company, offer to work for free (intern).

Don't make the mistake of being too desperate, you will find your path

HIS EXCELLENCY,
THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR,
EDO STATE,
COMRADE ADAMS OSHIOMHOLE.

OMITTING CONSEQUENCES

Your Excellency Sir, best wishes to you and the good people of Edo State.

“Let the people lead”, one of your many slogans in a bid to promote fairness and transparency in governance s the train of thought that incites followers to becoming leaders in their own rights either actively or ively.

While the fat lady is going through her usual vocal routine therapy, preparing to sing a closure to what can easily be referred to as the most defining tenure in Edo State’s political history, one can’t help but reflect on the spectacular and stumpy moments in a bid to evaluate over-all performance. There are those who are warming up their palms for a round of thunderous ‘claps’, others are rehearsing frustrations and anger, then there is ME.

It is inconsequential of what I want to do but I am just sitting inside the theatre knowing fully well the play is still on and the end holds as much importance as the beginning and transitional scenes.

It is commendable the way your government prioritized the construction and transformation of roads infrastructure stretched across the 3 geopolitical zones in the last 86 months as Executive Governor. I understand more could have been done but I believe people who are still highly critical of your leadership citing road infrastructure as a nail-head to hammer on, are clearly suffering from selective amnesia.

There is a pending debate on which tier of government impacts directly on the people, I believe each should be allowed to function with a significant degree of autonomy and responsibility. Whether or not the 18 local governments were managed properly will be revealed in the next istration because I have refused to have an opinion based on shared speculations and counter-speculations.

While concerns are being raised about the increased debt profile of the State, it is easily understandable that borrowing is inevitable for Nigerian States to foster development but what is unacceptable is when the development and impact is minimal.

At a time when the price of crude oil is constantly hitting depreciating values, States are being forced to diversify revenue base. This I find a bit ironic for a State like Edo considering the debt ratio to IGR and projected federal revenues. Small and medium enterprises that ought to be enthusiastically encouraged are going to have to deal with pain staking taxes just to keep the State afloat. A key fundamental to increased IGR is capacity building, which fuels economic activities as well as provide openings for new and active businesses. Sir as a matter of urgency, your istration in the next few months must focus on ways to vigorously invest in human capital.

The issue of unemployment is easily attributed to the Federal Government but States with abundant mineral resources have also been caught napping or better yet, sleeping on a bicycle over the past few years. The average monthly residual revenue after meeting recurrent expenditures for a State like Edo State makes it particularly difficult for the State government to open up sustainable employment channels. So when I drive around the capital city and see people harassing road s under the disguise of ‘Ministerial Task Force’ or as they previously had, ‘Oshiomole police’, I just think of what the future holds even for the so called employed ones. I also understand a number of people in the past few years were absorbed into working in the Edo State government house with almost no designation and yet salaries are to be paid.

Your Excellency Sir, The presence or lack of functional industries has always been a contributing factor to the teeming case of unemployment in the State. Ok, let us ignore external contribution and investment, Edo State known for it’s robust cultural historical heritage and craftsmanship is having generations of idle citizens with no significant skill. The last time a meaningful art and craft exhibition was held, I can’t even . Even the famous IGUE festival that is meant to portray a long-standing tradition is losing grounds. Discerning participation has become the order of the day mainly due to negligence and shortage of ‘local’ recognition. The Edo State arts and craft industry for example can be steered to rival the entertainment Industry in Lagos for additional revenue and to promote tourism.

Digressing to our own local entertainment Industry that currently stands as a gigantic gantry to showcase mediocrity, Information gathered shows considerable has been given to promote the industry. However, individual and institutional weakness with the too many myopic and unproductive associations has constantly jeopardized your contributions.

In this age of revenue diversification, It is non negotiable that priority be given to the Agricultural sector which unfortunately has received marginal provisions from your government in the last 7 years. We are currently missing out on a possible 80,000 direct employment monthly that is provided by this sector.

Your Excellency Sir, I agree open letters are often critical, exasperating and glory seeking but it should also be seen as a testament to freedom where valid points can be freely drawn. I do not wish to push a certain adverse narrative because I am also a firm irer of your doggedness and leadership stance.

Conclusively, It is not too late to cement a lasting legacy by using your last few months in office to provide a blueprint for the next istration irrespective of who emerges governor. Are you going to spiritedly send us to farms with incentives, develop art & craft centers, encourage small businesses, increase human capital through effective programs, pay salaries, review policies OR are you going to act predictably by hastened completion of pending road constructions, renovation of Central Hospital and other ‘cosmetic’ projects to promote your political party’s candidacy in the forth coming gubernatorial elections? I suggest you let posterity judge you fairly by your own deeds rather than the inaction of whoever is destined to take over the mantle of leadership. The onus is on you Mr. Governor to seize the opportunity to drive industrialization in other to stimulate economic growth as a corresponding exploit to complement past achievements.

God bless you Sir,
God bless Edo State,
God bless Nigeria!

Yours truly,

If for any reason you have not spent time in Edo State before, you honestly have no business commenting on this thread based on propaganda and Internet photos.

If we all agree Lucky Igbinedion's regime was piss poor, then isn't it shameful to still compare gov. Adams tenure with he's? What happened to comparing with Ambrose Alli's tenure or someone else.

Lucky Igbinedion looted the state but not "alone", a lot of people milked the State under his watch BUT he never tempered with policies that will directly impact the citizens and residents negatively. In the absence of adequate infrastructure development during Lucky Igbinedion's regime, there was never total hardship.

Gov. Adams is a beautiful politician but a terrible and a dictator from a chilled part of hell. When they say he is in charge, it's quite very literal. He is the governor, commissioner, local govt chairman, SSA, everything!

Go to the Edo State capital for a start, spend just one week in any part and come here to state your observation. He has wrecked the state, no working industries, no jobs, we all know he s thuggery and touts. What is left for the youth? Absolutely nothing. There are almost no opportunities in the State, don't be deceived.

I have spoken to a lot of people who's got the capacity to create a difference in of investment and any other useful resource. No one wants to go back because of the rigid policies, nothing seem to thrive there.

Common Sense is not common among Nigerians. They say a nation gets the kind of leaders it deserves and even from reading the comments here on Nairaland, one will swear Nigeria deserves the worse of leaders.

No sense of logic reasoning, no sense of critical and analytic thinking, just some people with Internet access who come online to spew their illiterate views.

In a sane society, a man like Gov. Adams will be petitioned by the entire citizens to provide enough proof for his accusations OR Shut the hell up! He is not even consistent, i'm sure he is up tonight composing a fresh allegation for the fmr minister of environment or someother past govt official.

This is one huge circus! Nigerians are being distracted, the same way Gov. Adams diverted the attention of Edo citizens by constantly blaming the previous govt even after his first tenure.

APC clearly thrives on propaganda. They should get to work because what will befall them in the nearest future will make them wish they never won any elections.

@azzima i'm opting to respond to your message to @benedictnsi to probably throw more light in the most civil way I can.

Look, when you are "tasked" with heading a committee, the onus is on your team to go on concrete fact finding, draw up your resolutions, prepare a report which should include your recommendations and have it submitted to your principal (The President in this case).

Please explain if Oshiomole has done any of these? He cooks up figures and blow into thin air then come with all sort of allegations. To tell you how unserious and a child's play he is, after the explanations from Okonjo Iweala and the fmr Agric minister, gov. Adams moved to the next person. It's almost becoming a circus show and you still expect him to be taken seriously? Common!

Oshiomole just had his loan approved, what did he do in Edo the past 6 years? A man that awarded a contract twice after paying over 35percent of the contract sum to the first company without any form of due process?

Contrary to the widely reported allegation by Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole that N140 billion was expended on Consultancy services on the 2nd Niger Bridge Project and that there was nothing on ground to show for it, the facts of the project are as follows;

. 1) The 2nd Niger Bridge Project was procured as a Public Private Partnership project under the Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model. This implies that the successful concessionaire, JB-NSIA Consortium has responsibility for the Design, Finance and Construction of the project, as well as its operation and maintenance for a concessionary period of 25 years.

. 2) The total project cost is N108 billion (excluding Duties and Value Added Tax) with a completion period of about 48 months. This cost was arrived at, after Bureau of Public Procurement’s review of the Concessionaire’s submitted cost of N138 billion.

. 3) The Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), guided by the Transaction Adviser, Roughton International, agreed to provide a refundable Catalytic Funding of N30 Billion. By May 2015, N10 billion Catalytic Funding was paid from the Federal Ministry of Works’ SURE-P Budget to fast track the early and sub-structural works of the bridge.

. 4) Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan performed the Ground Breaking ceremony on 10th March 2014.

. 5) The Bridge located at about 2km downstream the existing Niger Bridge in Onitsha, has recorded impressive progress.

. 6) One wonders therefore, the intentions of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in deliberately mis-informing Nigerians on the true status of the 2nd Niger Bridge. Rather than give in to such mis- information and sensationalism, the completion of the project, vis-à-vis sustaining the interest of the international investors that have signified interests in the project should be paramount.

. 7) It is also pertinent to call on Governor Oshiomhole, for the sake of our collective national interest, to tell Nigerians the source of his information about his alleged N140 billion-consultancy cost for a project with a total cost of N108 billion only. As a senior public officer, it is expected that the Comrade Governor would have crosschecked his facts before jumping to make such wild and spurious allegations. Otherwise, Governor Oshiomhole should tender unreserved apology to Nigerians for misleading the public on this project.

. cool The following progress photographs of the Second Niger Bridge Project indicate the level of work carried out on site as at 13th August, 2015.

Special Assistant (Media) to:Dr. (Arc.) Mike Onolememen, CON. Former Minister of Works.

Hello, Hi, Dear People, Hey, ehmmm I still don’t know the most appropriate form of greeting to open my posts with but whichever applies to you, kindly use it. So I’ll just begin this by saying, “Greetings! In your local dialect”.

A couple of moments ago during my ‘sessions’, I was having a chat with a daughter of mine and something did strike my thoughts. Girls can categorically be grouped in car . For example, let’s discuss type as it relates to size and built; there are Sedans, SUVs, Trucks and pardon me to add Keke Napep or I’ll call it by a more polished name like we hear in movies . . . Rickshaw. This is totally self-explanatory, the Sedans easily refers to the regular size 8 and 10. The SUVs (Jeeps) perfectly fits 12 and even though we are still undergoing discussions if size 14 can come in this category, I honestly believe once it’s from 14 upwards…. then we are talking trucks! I really don’t know if a size 6 is possibly a mini sedan like those Volks Beetle or we can just decide to call any other below that. . . a Rickshaw.

Now, lets take this further a bit to discuss specifications and features. We know there are girls that require high maintenance, there are also those that needs to be maintained moderately for optimized performance, and we simply just refer to them as V6, V8, V12, AMG or the standard 4 plug engines. The thing is, if as a dude your basic salary is not “shell” or chevron standard and you are holding onto your V8 and V12 engines, I’m sorry you’ll be relocating to the village faster than our Ibo brothers going for Xmas holidays. I mean, by the time you spend 6 months salary on flight tickets alone and Chanel bags, you will start receiving direct messages from the holy spirit. The reason I wrote salary in bold is to lay a divine emphasis there, look . . . you can’t pretend when your hustle is not yet ripe, even top past government officials have failed in the quest of maintaining AMGs and V12 engines once they fall out of positions.

When we talk leather seats, paranomic roof, steering control, wooden trims or formica (whichever one you call it) etc. We are simply referring to those hard-to-get girls but once you win their heart, they provide you with maximum comfort; they are like the best of their spec. They cook, they clean, your friends ire them, and your family too can easily get along. Amazingly, these sorts can come in whatever engine capacity, depends on your ability and maintenance culture. Now beware! Some girls actually know how to sew leather and fix wooden trims on themselves like the ones I have on my Camry. Don’t be fooled, because like they say . . . one day when breeze blow, fowl anus go open lol by then you are completely on your own. . . It’s like paying for Pancakes only for you to get MASA in return. Even CHINUA ACHEBE will be shocked the way THINGS will FALL APART.

We all know in the auto world, “MILEAGE” is key as it plays a very vital role by equipping us with the right tool that could be used to predict the car’s efficiency. Mileage means the distance the car must have travelled in total and this is given in miles and kilometers. I’m sure some girls must have over ran their mileage and instead of numbers like 80,000Km, their mileage reads THE END in km. Let me just use a table to illustrate my set out bench mark for mileage as it relates to a girl’s “experience” and history lol

MILEAGE (in Kilometres) REMARKS
Less than 25,000 Brand New; you are guaranteed to bask in marital bliss.
25,000 to 50,000 First grade! You don’t even need to test drive it. Just enjoy.
50,000 to 90,000 Ideal; this is also very good. Marry her!
90,000 to 130,000 With a good maintenance culture, your union will be profitable.
130,000 to 180,000 Check the parts, there must be one or two things you’ll need to fix before you take home to mama
180,000 to 230,000 Well, God needs to show his face. You must be very prayerful and be close to your pastor.
230,000 to 270,000 My friend, change that car! Start looking for a new one.
Above 270,000 *insert parables* Something must kill a man. A stubborn fly will end up inside a coffin. (Where are those Pete Edochie’s quote memes when you need them).

Outside the regular specs and types, some girls are simply Luxury built. We are not talking about cheap Bentleys, please open to the book of Bugatti Veyron chapter 2 verse 4 million dollars just before Koenigsegg Agera. . . Way above Lamborghini Aventador and Rolls Royce Phantom. These girls will put you on the fast lane . . . the type that you and your father will need to s together to take care of.

For cars, with the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), one can view the history on carfax or autocheck to know the exact status before buying. Sadly, humans don’t come with special identification numbers, even our names are not really ours lol

We basically just ride through life trusting our heart to make the right choices but then again, nothing is assured. Have a lovely week ahead!

Disclaimer: If you find this piece derogatory or degrading, I am sorry but you must have missed the message because the truth of the matter is; it holds no message and is meant to be one of those fun reads. If you are still pained and angry, please drop your email so I can send you a hand written apology letter but mind you, if you see my writing, I assure you . . . you will laugh!
