Why did you say it's not great?
* NIDF Q3 dividend = N5.09
Representing 24.4% yield......
* Growth in performance Y-on-Y
Any long term or dividend investor should have this stock in his/her portfolio
How did you get a 24.4% dividend yield?
The total dividend so far is less than N14 and for a stock selling for N111.7.

₦776 is a massive gain for Nigeria (that's circa ₦341 savings per litre).
Aren't these the same 'marketers' fighting to be allowed to continue importation at ₦1117 per litre?
Yeye dey smell...
Why do you think it is only NNPC that can buy directly from Dangote refinery?
I want to believe that N776 being quoted is a subsidized figure.

One thing is certain, after commencement of full operations at DR our FX will improve significantly.
I honestly do not see FG/NNPC satisfying the crude oil needs of DR and he'll have to import more crude to meet demand/full capacity,
That means, at cheaper $-₦, the produce of the refinery will be cheaper ex-depot.
I think the bolded can be achieved on the mid- to long-term...
I still cannot see how a fully functional dangote refinery will improve our fx significantly.

There are many contractual involved in deals like this but let's just leave it like that...
On the issue of 'being on the queue', let me paint a scenario: What IF DR signed similar 'distributorship' agreement with NNPC?
The fact that MRS. ETERNA et al are NOT tagged EXCLUSIVE or SOLE distributor leaves the door wide open
On second thought, I feel the NNPC distributor deal is a clause inserted in the crude-for-naira deal.
Let's wait and see how it relates to subsidy in due course
The government is in a fix.
Make it a free market and petrol will sell above N1000 close to the price of diesel or maintain a ceiling on price in which only NNPC can run that kind of business.
Nigeria is still subsidizing petrol.

Ok so where is the generated power going if not the national grid? Oyibo doesn't do zero work. They will not install that much capacity if they are not using it.
Background
It is also called Okpai power plant, Kwale-Okpai Independent Power Plant, Kwale Powerplant or the Kwale IPP[10][11]. The phase 2 expansion is also called Okpai Phase 2, Kwale IPP Phase II[10] and Okpai Phase II Independent Power Project (IPP),[12] depending upon which company is talking about it.[13]
Phase 1 of the plant was commissioned in 2005.[12] In 2017 Oando Plc secured the Nigerian federal government’s approval for an expansion, essentially doubling the plant's size.[14][15][16]
Oando reported spending on $17.5 million on capital expenditures on Kwale IPP Phase II in 2017,[10] indicating construction had begun.
Over the years, Oando has faced serious financial issues that came to a head in mid-2019 when Nigeria's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) ordered Oando's entire board to resign.[17]
The plant's commissioning was delayed to Q3 of 2019[18], however even post-commissioning in 2020 power was not being sent to the grid

History of Nigerian market is not easily accessible on internet compared to us market
That is the problem,
A bubble like this might have occurred during 2008 but I can't seem to find precise records of stock prices during this period
And even if it is a bubble, calling the top might be tough - market might keep rallying throughout Tinubu 's 4 years till election period
No one knows what the market makers see as true value anymore.
Many here have witnessed market cycle of boom and burst on the NSE.
What better way to learn than real life experience. I actually don't think the NSE is overvalued to be talking about bubbles, yes I believe some individual stocks are overvalued while some are undervalued.
And by the way,I was not only talking about NSE in my observation.

In all models of valuation, both conservative and non-conservative, we must acknowledge the arrival of sentimental analysis, driven by technology. I can tell you that Nigerian investors had no access to live trading 12 years ago; we had to monitor stock prices in daily newspapers and news. I vividly sending buy orders to my brokers via email. Today, we are empowered with tons of information, participating actively in buying and selling. Some previously dormant stocks were revived from the graveyard and began to show life due to investor sentiment. Since no one has a verified crystal ball like the OANDO prophet Utuocha, we now use available tools to make fundamental analysis (FA) or technical analysis (TA) decisions, coupled with sentimental analysis, which Warren Buffett has acknowledged. The millennials and short sellers can punish the most undervalued stock and promote the most overvalued stocks, still smiling to the bank. Whether we like it or not, behavioral biases and sentimental analysis are inseparable and have come to stay while the market would always correct and defend itself.
I totally agree with you that the market dynamic has changed and evolved over the year.
I am not also disputing the fact that valuation is not the only metrics that determine prices. I respect some FA guys here who are doing some great jobs.
Sentiment analysis/spiritual analysis, I have my reservation, thought I am not in a position to say they don't work.
This is not the first time utuocha will be prophesying about stocks, he has had many failed promises in the past in the days of SMN, so his prophesies don't excite someone like me either failed or fulfilled.
There is also a place for manipulation just like we have seen in some stocks.
All in all, I respect other people's opinion about what works for them but I strongly disagree with the assumption that the concept of overvaluation/undervaluation is no more relevant in today's market.

Well, the overvalued stock in your sight could be undervalued in another investor's sentiment. The good results produced by the aforementioned companies would not have justified their current value. The moment these companies started trending on social media, most especially on NSEMPA, investors began to direct sentiment and speculation towards them. This is the constant and dynamic truth.
There are different methods used in valuation that are generally acceptable as standard.
Those don't respond to an individual bias.
We are all at liberty to do and believe whatsoever we want.

My View on the Illusion of Stock Overvaluation and Why Investors Should Rethink Stock Valuation.
When Total was trading at sub-N400 a year ago, it appeared overvalued in the sights of many investors.
Low liquidity and low volume were also cited by some forum , with daily prices sometimes static. Then, speculations by retail investors emerged that there was a hidden gem in the company. The story changed, and the price is now heading towards the N1,000 mark, same is true for OANDO, We NSEMPA single handedly dictate its current price.
This motivated me to research why the concept of stock valuation using the traditional methods of FA, CCA, ABV, GGM, EV/EBITDA, P/S RATIO, P/B RATIO, DCF, DDM, P/E RATIO
All these may no longer be absolutely relevant in modern settings. No wonder the legendary investor Warren Buffett described the modern stock market as a casino due to massive participation by retail investors. Behavioral and financial psychology is now the order of the day.
In light of this, I came up with the following ing opinions to buttress the assertion that the concept of stock overvaluation lies in the eyes of an individual(buyer), not the dictate of the market.
In the era of digital mobile technologies and social media, the investing landscape has undergone a significant transformation. The emergence and active participation of retail investors has revolutionized the way stock prices are determined, rendering traditional notions of overvaluation obsolete. It's time for investors to abandon the concept of overvaluation and embrace a new reality: a stock's value is ultimately determined by what individual investors are willing to pay.
_Subjective Valuation_
Stock valuation has always been subjective, with different investors holding varying opinions on a stock's worth. What one investor considers overvalued, another might see as undervalued. This disparity highlights the futility of relying solely on traditional valuation metrics.
_The Rise of Retail Investors
The influx of retail investors has demonstrated that collective individual opinions can drive stock prices, making traditional notions of overvaluation less relevant. As more investors participate in the market, their collective sentiment and speculation shape stock prices. This concept alone was the reason my boss Oga Agba has been locked out of the market. He is still waiting for the index to obey the dictate of Ichimoku and fibonacci. 😆 🤣 😂 😹
_Speculation and Sentiment
Speculation and market sentiment, fueled by digital technologies and social media, significantly impact stock prices. This makes it challenging to determine intrinsic value, as prices are influenced by various market dynamics, such as momentum, trends, and herd behavior.
_A New Era of Investing_
The digital age has ushered in a new era of investing, where information dissemination and accessibility have empowered individual investors. Traditional valuation metrics are no longer dominant, as investors rely on diverse sources of information to inform their decisions.
_Price Discovery_
The true value of a stock is ultimately determined by what investors are willing to pay, making price discovery a dynamic and constantly evolving process. This reality underscores the importance of understanding market sentiment and speculation.
_Efficient Market Hypothesis_
The efficient market hypothesis suggests that prices reflect all available information, making it challenging to consistently achieve returns in excess of the market's average. This theory s the idea that stock prices are influenced by individual opinions and speculations.
_Behavioral Finance_
Behavioral finance highlights how psychological biases and emotions influence investment decisions. This further s the notion that stock prices are influenced by individual opinions and speculations rather than solely by fundamental valuations.
Lastly, the concept of overvaluation is no longer relevant in today's investing landscape. Investors must adapt to a new reality, where stock prices are determined by individual opinions, speculation, and market sentiment. By embracing this shift, investors can better navigate the complexities of the modern market and make more informed investment decisions.
History has a way of repeating itself.
When the market has been bullish for a very long time, it is not uncommon for people to think that valuation doesn't really matter.
Everyone feels invisible and believes price will continue to go up for ever not minding the underlying status of the listed companies.
This is not new, it just the cycle that we are in, another cycle will come and story will change.

If anyone thinks Total, PRESCO, OKOMU, JB, STANBIC, GEREGU, BUAFOODS, TRANSCOHOT, NNFM, NAHCO are overvalued, you have your own price, the rest of investors have theirs, and the world has its valuation as well. Some of these companies are trading at valuations. Their prices are determined by what investors are willing to pay, not by fundamentals alone. This makes the dynamic and irrational market very interesting. No one is forcing investors to buy them at their current valuations. Suffice it to say, some investors still see them as being undervalued.
Valuation is dynamic in my opinion and I want to believe there is where you are mixing it up.
A company can be overvalued this quarter and produce a superb performance in the next two quarters that will justify the new price.
PRESCO, OKOMU, NAHCO have all produced results in recent times that could justify their new price and I don't think that can be said of TRANCOHOT.
It is also pertinent to also note that a stock can stay overvalued or undervalued for a long time than any one can imagine.
