why use a battery seperately, before adding to battery bank ?
and you were trying to bring them to sync
tools for the series installation was not ready yet.. Didnt know it was going to affect it... just 3days use...

Hello... after balancing the batteries at 12.3 volts each. I connected them back in series and charged. I tested with a multimeter... they were all at 13.1 volts while charging, except that same battery which was showing 13.5 during the charge, is this normal?
Update... i stopped the charging(nepa take light), applied some load now... there is a 0.1v difference . 3batteries at 12.2v and that one at 12.1v. 30mins later... 3batteries at 12.1v that one at 12v... 🤐

That was 2weeks ago... no i didn't. I didn't have a multimeter then..

its worth mentioning that the battery that is out of sync, i used it separately for 3days with 12v inverter(light usage), before connecting it with the remaing 3 for a 48v series.... could that be the reason. I bought all brand new from an accredited dealer...

Mostly is advisable to use battery equaliser for a 48volt system cos of stuff like this, normally what I do on site when I want to install 4 battery is that I will parallel all battery with a DC cable first thing first, then continue with other activity, I do that to balance the battery voltage to prevent issue like this. Once the battery with 11.8 reaches 11volt, then ur inverter will start buzzing. To solve the disparity in voltage, disconnect d 4battery from the inverter n charge controller, place them on a spacious place, get a 16mm DC cable n connect all Positive terminal together n do same for Negative terminals too... but u have to be extra ordinarily careful when doing it cos d positive cable mustn't come in with the negative cable or better still, get an engineer to help u with it. I base in Ibadan in case u also resident here

And secondly, do i still need a battery equaliser after doing this "parallel balancing"

For a new battery then, you need to equalize them, charge all in parallel, with a 12V charger until it's Full Full.
that means i will charging 800ah battery with my 12v 20ah charger...that na till weekend ooh..😎😎😔😔..

As expected..
This is a normal behavior when your batteries have degraded.
Swap the battery and you will notice the same thing with the other batteries as well. The positive end will read 11.8V.
You batteries have degraded.. start saving for new one. Or go Lithium for peace of mind.
batteries are 2 weeks old... is it possible that exact battery was actually low wen it was connected in series, hence did not attain the level of charge the others had?

Happy sunday everyone. Out of curiosity, i got a multimeter... i have 4 batteries connected in series..after testing all came out 12.2v except one which came out 11.8v. Note that they re not fully charged as i have used them b4 testing... my question is, are they not suppose to discharge on thesame level??.. as same 12.2v for all??
the 11.8v is coming from the battery at the positive end of the series..

Can you take a picture of it? Since when have you been using it and with how much load?
Late last year... 25% to 30% load.

Hello Gurus. Kudos for your great work here.
My 3.5KVA Ipower inverter is displaying a code 6 error. I took it to Zinox office and was told to pay N85k for repairs which will take 4 weeks. This is the 2nd time of repairing it there. The first time it took them 9 months. A week after collecting it, one of the fans stopped working, but it still worked and I ed it with an external fan.
I don't even load the Inverter up to 10% since I bought it 2 years ago, yet it keeps having issues.
Please, what do you advise? Any alternative step I can take? N85k is too much for this unreliable device biko.
i use the transformer based ipower Hybrid 3kva inverter...and it serves me well..
Is that what u use? If no, u should try it. Rugged stuff..

bros no vex say we do overSabi derail your question.
What are you using to charge
1. external battery charger
2. inverter
3. solar
4...
inverter that come with inbuilt charger, and a charge selector of either 40a or 20a..

10% max charge - 20A Charge....
4 batteries in series - 48V, 200AH. Max charge 20A. Discharge 10A
4 batteries in Parallel - 12V, 800AH. Max charge 80A. Discharge 40A
Thanks.

U could av snapped the inscription. Nonetheless. Reduce ur Ac charger to 20a as it's connected in series. Each battery will b charged at 20a. If all 4 are connected in parallel u wouldn't need to reduce the amp. Ur ac ac charger is a 48v 40a variant and not 12v 40a.
Thanks.

Check ur battery for the c rating. 40a is just 0.2c for 200a n would b ok for most battery. Other might b lower than this eg 0.15 n 0.1
its written @c20 rating. Then recommended maximum charging is 10% of battery capacity. I was thinking since its four battery connected in series 40amps should be okay... but i noticed a low bubbling sound while charging the 4 batteries(tubular)at 40amps current. Is it normal?

Are you in Nigeria, where did you buy yours?
