Nothing has divided the world as efficiently as religion has. Not Wealth Race Tribe Politics Education Fill-in-the-blanks But religion! Religion has outdone all of these. Even within religions, there are denominations and sects - on the thread about a breakup due to denominational differences, "Christians" stated that they can't marry from certain denominations. It's no different in Islam where Sunnis and Shias are constantly at each other's throats. People see each other and the first thing they see is a religious affiliation. We'll only begin to see each other as humans FIRST in a world devoid of religion. |

Amazing writeup! My views around feminism have always been that my actions or inactions should not be based on my gender, but on characteristics that would apply to a human because first, I'm human. This means that if I do not major in the sciences, let it be due to a lack of interest or aptitude. Ditto for the arts or any other discipline. Not because I'm 'female' or these disciplines are 'for men' If I cannot carry a bag of rice and a bag of cement, let it be because I do not have the physical ability to - the required muscular strength, not because I'm female. If I cannot pay my bills or for dinner, let it be because well, no money. Same goes for a guy. If the door is held open for me or I hold the door open for the next person, let it be out of politeness and consideration of the next person. These are human traits. Not one is exclusive to the female gender. People need to pull their heads from their asses. Even today, in some communities, it is frowned upon for a single lady to live alone or even own a car to her name?! Why?! We were all proud when she was a smart, resourceful kid, we were all proud but now that she's an even smarter and more resourceful adult, we hide our heads in shame. We want her to reduce herself so that she doesn't look 'too successful for a woman' because 'that would chase men away'. Nobody has them yet that those are the wrong set of men and it is just as well that they're being intimidated away. With all this artificial pressures, do we still wonder what is wrong with our society? You cannot give a person what they do not want; some ladies are quite comfy with the status quo and I say, good for them! But worse are the ones who will brandish the feminism sword only when it conveniently suits the purpose of the moment. You have to pick a struggle, no one really gets to have their cake and eat it. Rant over. 5 Likes |

Yes, there's a reason I'm posting this in the crime section. This is a crime against humanity, our sensibilities and our pockets! How can you promise A and and deliver X? Are you buhari? Glo 3G network was great. It was fast and reliable. In came 4G with a promise of better. From the first day, it wasn't better than 3G in any way. It was so basic that I made a mental note to go back to 3G. However, I haven't got around to doing so. Since December and even worse, January, the network has been so abysmal! You'll have full network bar but it's like an illusion...it's there but it's not there because you cannot do anything with it! How does one have full network bars with nothing to show for it? In this age?! I ask again, are you buhari? This is just like having a clean N5 note and thinking you can buy anything with it! This is a criminal offence on the part of glo. I feel assaulted and violated! All we've ever asked for is good Internet connection! At the very least, as good as 3G was. Don't give us 2G in the guise of 4G. Oops, I just insulted 2G...don't promise us 4G when there is nothing to give!!! #globringbackour3G I hope this gets posted sometime this year. Over and out |

Guilty of the physical attractiveness bias and reactivity. Some quarters will explain the placebo/nocebo effect using the law of attraction. The placebo effect is a very effective tool in the hands of modern day preachers in promoting sales of their business products. Good post, op |

I usually get all issues resolved offline but this one deserves to be brought to the internet. It is particularly horrible. On Dec 10, I recharged N400 worth of airtime on my MTN line. I urgently needed to make a call but on dialling, the recording said 'you have insufficient credit'. I was perplexed...I mean, I'd just recharged. Due to the urgency of the call, I further recharged N200 so I could make the call. As expected, I should have had N600 as my balance but when I did check, I had exactly N203 (I had 3 naira before). This was before I placed the call I wanted to make. Where did the initial N400 go? I took it in stride, believing it would be easily reversed but here I am today, still battling with inept customer care agents. When the airtime did not auto-reverse, on Dec 11, I called MTN customer care and I was told the system with which they would use to confirm my details was down, that I should exercise patience. Well, no big deal, I did. Throughout the week, I got so busy and couldn't call back so I resorted to engaging them on whatsapp. I chatted with at least 9 different agents who were so useless, it hurt. Responses were not timely, and by the time I followed up, another agent would have taken over so I had to start afresh. This ensured that I did not make any headway via the whatsapp channel. (pro tip: don't tell them how disappointed you are over whatsapp, they either will not respond, do not care or are inept). Fast forward to today, I had a lot of time on my hands so I dialled 180 again. First rep I spoke with pulled my details but then again the same system which was down 2 weeks ago was still down! Are these guys serious?! I asked for an immediate refund anyway, she said it would take at least 24 hours and offered to transfer me to her supervisor. Well, she did. And I was on the phone line for about 10 minutes listening to all the background noise and conversations. She'd put me on hold but you can guess what happened. I didn't care though, I just needed to get it done with the time I had. After about 10 minutes of being a background listener, the line went dead. I called back and spoke with a guy, gave him background and demanded to speak with a supervisor since the minions wouldn't be of any help. He transferred me and again, the line went dead before I could get connected. I called back and spoke with a different lady. After I gave her a background of the situation, she said she couldn't pull my details. Wtf!, the first lady I spoke with did!!! To make it worse, she insinuated that I'd subscribed to a package (for N400!) I asked her what package I could have subscribed to that would cost a round figure of N400, hasn't sent me package information, and hasn't asked me to renew. She couldn't give a sensible answer. Again, I asked to speak with a supervisor, she said hers was not available, and that I should wait for a call back from her supervisor. I asked to be transferred to another supervisor to handle the situation. Apparently, that's a taboo in the MTN customer care system. A stooge can only transfer calls to their direct supervisor for whatever reason. I'm livid because of the way this has gone, not because of the money involved but because of the gross ineptitude. Why would I not not be able to make calls even though I have sufficient airtime? Why would N400 be deducted without explanation? Why would a system be down for 2 weeks? Are you guys serious? Why such a high level of ineptitude? Why adopt a whatsapp platform that is basically useless? Do the agents have different orientation? Why would 1 be able to access my details and another wouldn't? Why wouldn't any available supervisor take customer complaints? And finally, why turn a usually patient person to this?! Nobody likes to be cheated and MTN will not get away with this. Mods, lalasticlala, please take this to front page, customers are being taken for granted daily. 2 Likes |

Omonigeriarere: Per your suggestion, I did look it up, just to be sure I wasn't wrong. And I wasn't. While "Unfiltered access" can be said, it's usually in relation to Internet access. In this situation, "Unfettered access" is the bone. Of contention. Time for you to visit the dictionary |

ConcNiggress56: Dunno if anyone has mentioned this to you... Tell him you're lesbian. That should be easy. You should have a hot female friend you can easily off as a girlfriend. Plus, you don't have a boyfriend so pulling this off should be easy. He might come at you more but he'll be less forward cuz the thought of a girl enjoying that which he wants will drive him crazy. But as far as he knows, you're simply not attracted to men |
