adedammy009: The interview went well, I received the visa approval. I got to the Lagos consulate 30mins before the interview time. The CGI folks checked my appointment letter to ensure that I was scheduled for the day. Once confirmed, I was allowed in and told to arrange my documents in the order described in the interview invitation mail. When I got into the visa hall. I was initially called for document verification at a window. All of my original documents were collected including my original school certificates. These were compared with the information that I submitted to NVC which had been mailed to them. Once done, I was told to sit and wait till my number was called. There was no particular order to the way that applicants were called for the interview with the consular officers. After an hour, I was called by one of the officers.Below are some of the questions he asked: Have you ever lived in any other country for more than 6 months? Are you currently employed and where do you work? How many years of experience do you have? Where are you going to in the US and what are you going to do there? Do you have any professional certifications along with your academic credentials? Have you ever changed your name? Do you have other dependents that aren't applying with you? Once he was done with his notes, he mentioned that I had been approved and he gave me a white slip. He held on to my port, but returned all my original documents that I had submitted during the initial screening. The main takeaway is that even though the consular officer is not readjudicating the petition, they're validating the legitimacy of the application from an immigration perspective. Most importantly, ensure that you're consistent in all of the information provided, as I saw a lot of people get entangled by providing inconsistent or incomplete information to the consular which led to the dreaded 221g refusal. Wishing you all the best in your journey. 13 Likes |

Anua2k: From my understanding, the COVID 19 vaccine isn't required for children. However, I'd suggest you check with the medical clinic prior to your appointment, as these vaccination rules get updated periodically. 1 Like |

Kongrats: COVID 19 Vaccination is very much required and should be taken before the actual medical appointment. You need to present your vaccination card for your medicals to be deemed complete. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/vaccinations.html |

adedammy009: Not sure. Likely because they also issued several ILs to the IR/CR visa class which is higher priority. |

Dmowumi: Had medicals at q-life. Had to pay a separate fee for vaccines which were istered during the medical appointment. Cost of vaccines varies based on any outstanding shots that haven't been taken. |

Aku660: Yes, my priority date is 14Feb22 while Final Action Date for EB2 ROW is 01Jul22. How come yours isn't current for since you are EB2-NIW and were DQ in April 2022? Are you not in the ROW category? 1 Like |

Congrats on your case being sent to NVC. Ensure that the police certificate you get includes fingerprints. I hear there a new version out that doesn't include the fingerprints. You need to insist that you need fingerprints as well, or NVC may request for more information after submission. From my understanding, the police certificate is valid with the consulate for 2 years, even though 3 months is written on it. Good luck. 3 Likes |

Mandem101: That's good news. Let's see if there'll be movement at the Lagos Embassy. I'm not aware of any group that has details on date availability, and looking for as well. |

bomly: To be eligible for EB-2 NIW, you will have to demonstrate that you meet the three-prong test that requires the foreign national to prove that: 1) they seek employment in an area of āsubstantial intrinsic meritā; 2) their services are ānational in scopeā and; 3) national interests would be adversely affected if the applicant was to go through the labor certification process. I believe that previous posters have shared some useful material in this thread if you intend to file by yourself. You may however need to dig into the historical chats. Good luck! 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mandem101: It'll come soon. I suspect that the visa retrogression may be playing a role. The slow down is for the entire EB-2 category in Lagos since Feb/Mar. 1 Like |

IamMomoh: You have to weigh this carefully, and are in the best position to make a decision. That being said, once you submit the petition, it's deemed that you have immigrant intent and will be very difficult to get a student visa thereafter. You also have to factor in time for the submission of the petition, USCIS approval, and the NVC process. If you weigh in the timing to an F-visa for your spouse, and the trade-off with an adjustment of status from F-1 to EB-2 NIW for yourself; it may help you decide what's best for both of you. Not an easy decision. Good luck! 2 Likes 1 Share |
