I ’m reading up on that program—that’s precisely what they’ll be doing. The acceptance of the money to leave the country becomes a permanent part of the immigration history.
I found out the scheme has been around since about the 80s/90s in Sweden actually. So it isn't new at all.. undecided

Trade surpluses are supposed to lead to the strengthening of the local currency against the dollar and other foreign currencies but that is not happening in Nigeria because the Naira is currently been gang raped by foreign currencies. Nigerians wants positive results rather than media hypes.

■ A well-known Islamic cleric and singer Ibraheem Abdulhameed popularly called Labaeka, has gone viral for quitting as Special Assistant on Artiste Matters to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State.
In his resignation letter of 12 September 2024 shared via Instagram, he expressed frustration with the role, citing lack of a job description and inability to perform his responsibilities.
According to him, due to the absence of a specific schedule or defined duties, he could not justify continuing to receive a salary without fulfilling any responsibilities.

■ Dont get me wrong here, i didnt say counsellors are sent out by the police. I meant some of these police officers academic background is in counseling, maybe he should have allowed the professionals handle it as you have said.
■ There are cases of women weaponising the fact that its a woman's world and this is a fact. These things are easy to criticise until one is a victim. I am against any form of abuse in any form.
1. That is bullsheet and you know it. If you are not hired by the police department as a family counselor and in fact deployed to the site as exactly that, you have no right whatsoever to portray yourself as a police counselor. If I need counseling, I will the professionals. Try to imagine your gas maintenance guy showing up at your door and then offering you counseling about how you treat your kids because he has a degree as a child counselor; maybe that might help you see how absurd that suggestion about policemen offering counseling sounds. undecided

2. Where you have humans you are sure to have cases where privileges are misused. And as I already said, it is the police department— not you or me or any single police man —to make that determination. It is the police department that investigates each case and decides based on the evidence available whether there has been an abuse of privilege or not. undecided

■ A popular doctor on twitter was wrongfully accused of rape. He nearly lost his career and his life. What happens to his mental health afterwards?
■ I am not against anyone reporting abusive cases , the point here is that i believe people don't marry strangers, there are issues that could be settled amicably.
■ On the second point, you know this is pure abuse of the privilege.
■ If it's a paid service where women/men have to pay for that service, they won't be calling on every issues. This is a pure case of abuse. I am totally against any form of abuse.
1. His mental health would probably suffer as well. However, that is not a good enough reason to tell anyone not to report a crime or call the police when in need of help. undecided

2. Again, if a woman called the cops because her husband did not want Chinese for dinner and would rather have Italian, chances are 100% that no policeman would show up to begin with unless the Chinese was radioactive or something. So, this argument of yours does not enter at all. undecided

3. I made it clear that there is no such thing as an abuse of privilege. That is entirely up to the police department to decide and not for individuals to take it upon themselves to decide on behalf of the entire police department.

4. It is a paid service, paid for with our tax money and the police make money the more we call on them for help so it is to the benefit of the department that we continue to call on them for help, and it is also in our benefit that we continue to call on them for help so we make sure our money is maximally utilized to the benefit of our lives and communities.

■ I disagree with you. Some of these officers are counselors as well, its part of their job.
■ He only gave a piece of advice, stop reporting everything.
■ There are some of these cases that could be settled amicably without involving the police. Not all the cases are abusive. Do you think all the cases are abusive?
1. Counselors sent out by the Police Force to go onsite to counsel families in their homes? Where did you get this from? Provide evidence of your claim. undecided

2. He has no right to give advise in the capacity of a marriage/family counselor. These jobs are left to professionals and rightly so. undecided

3. Well, if they could have been settled without police, no one would have called the police now, would they? However, saying this after the police have arrived only means you are not being entirely honest at all. undecided

■ Is that video about women reporting a matter to them or about women reporting every matter even the ones that can be settled amicably?
You are abusing the privilege and that's what the video is all about.
■ How about the cases that are none abusive? Abusive cases should be reported, how about the weaponisation of this privilege? How about issues that can be settled amicably? This is not about Africa or not. There are many cases of false accusations against men too. Men have been jailed for false rape accusations, many have lost their jobs and their career. Is that fair? Can you wish your siblings or your sons? Women shouldn't learn to behave themselves and obey the laws too? Are women above the laws? The children are the ones that suffer in all this. Should we talk about paternity fraud? It's a two way thing. Men's mental health matters too. Address this as if your son is the one involved in it and stop the attack. Look for whatever you lack in your life.
Listen, if a woman called the police to report that her husband refuses to have Chinese instead of Italian for dinner, the police would not send anyone there. There has to be a valid reason for the dispatcher to send out a policeman to a particular location and that reason has to be a serious enough one. So, please stop trying to trivialize the work of the Police in this. undecided

2. There is no such thing as abusing a privilege as it is the police, not the reporters who determine whether to have a police officer dispatched to a location or not. If the police Force — not a police officer— decides as an organization that a particular citizen is in abuse of privilege, the Office of the police would inform such a person of this. It is not the job of any police officer to make this decision on his own on behalf of the force.

3. The police force would rather you allow them to determine which of the cases are serious and which are not serious. Your job and that of every other citizen is to report any possible crimes when it happens so the authorities can take it from there. undecided

■ First of all, I will like to know if you watched and listened to the man's submissions before reaching your conclusions. Unless only a part of the video was released, there was no point he mentioned domestic abuse or report. His councel is more of child upbringing, why women should instill proper value in their children. I even wanted to comment then that nothing in the man speech points at "telling women not to report their husband". He only told them to tolerate their husband and work against pushing him away as his input in training the child is indispensable.
There is everything wrong with that statement actually since that is the same language used by many of your pastors in Nigeria to keep Nigerian women enduring misery year after year after year — some eventually meeting their end as a result. For Pete's sake, that is the very same language used to cajole Nigerians into tolerating the Buhari shege for 8 years, and it is the same manipulative tongue being used on the people as we speak to cause them to settle for 3 more years of the renewed shege banze. grin

Even a family or marriage counselor would know not to use such language given what we have learned of how it can and has been used to manipulate people into accepting conditions that they are not supposed to. undecided

■ Beautiful sentimental bullshit!
The police officer is an enforcer of the law for a reason and has witness countless number of cases that's irrelevant and putting pressure on the immigrant. He decided to use a Christian platform to speak to people he believes uses Godly standards in their marriages.
If you have issues with him connecting to children of God in the language of marital longevity, then you have issues.
That there in bold is what amounts to sentimental bullsheet! A police officer is never to assume he has in fact seen it all. To top it off, he is required to pocket his religion and the many sentiments that go along with it, when out in that uniform. undecided

■ I listened to every utterance the man made there was no time he told the women to remain in abusive marriage. I think feminists are doing too much. His advice bothers generally on family cohesion. The need for woman to tolerate and cooperate with their husband. He even gave a specific instance of unemployment on the part of the husband.
How feminists spined it to arrive at domestic violence beat my imagination. The woke generation and their hypocrisy. Don't tolerate your husband, report him when he sneezes, when he farts, reports him, report him when he can't afford to pay the bill, report him when he cannot say his "I love you" audibly, report him when he is frustrated, goes out and refuses to return to your toxic embrace. When you're done killing him with reports, you have to transfer the aggression of irrelevant reports to your own children. Osinwin gbogbo
Why do many of you still reason like dindinrins even as 2024 don dey come to a close? The only reason a person would call the cops into a marriage is if and only if there is a disagreement that requires their presence in the home. undecided

A policeman would not be sent out simply because a husband and wife simply disagreed over whether to have Chinese or Italian for dinner. I mean before a police officer is dispatched to a location, the operator collects details of the problem to ensure that the officer is not being sent out on a fool's errand. So by the time the officer lands in your home, they already checked the record on the home, the person making the complaint and the one the complaint is being made about to ascertain they have the records of these people on hand to provide any needed medication or simply need to relocate one of the involved out of the house to de-escalate. undecided

The policeman was already in the home so that there is clear that something real was reported or he was just visiting his friends, happened to be wearing his uniform at the time and was unluckily caught on camera advising the friend's wife not to call the cops on her husband. Whatever the case may have been the police man is wrong to have done that while wearing his uniform. undecided

some of Nigerian community wey think the only thing uk and western world will offer them be freedom to misbehave and push their husbands out of the house at any slight instance done go report officer oo. No one violence or abuse … but if anyone tells you most of your children will turn out great without their father or fatherly upbringing. You are lying to yourself! Everything must not end in divorce . Find a way to settle things ! Violence and abuse shouldn’t be tolerated though!
Here are some of the freedoms you are meant to enjoy as a human being wherever you may live on this planet.
The UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights Convention protects the following human rights:
◆ The right to juridical personality
◆ The right to life
◆ The right to humane treatment
◆ The right of every person not to be subject to slavery or to involuntary servitude
◆ The right to personal liberty
◆ The right to a fair trial
◆ Freedom from ex post facto laws
◆ The right of every person to be compensated in accordance with the law in the event of having been sentenced by a final judgment through a miscarriage of justice
◆ The right to privacy
◆ The right to freedom of conscience and religion
◆ Freedom of thought and expression
◆ The right of reply
◆ The right of assembly
◆ Freedom of association
◆ The rights of the family
◆ The right to a name
◆ The rights of the child
◆ The right to nationality
◆ The right to property
◆ Freedom of movement and residence
◆ The right to participate in government
◆ The right to equal protection
◆ The right to judicial protection
◆ The right to the progressive development of economic, social, and cultural rights
All of this means that a woman, same as a man, has the right to call it quits in a marriage— divorce— if and when she wants. You should get used to it if you want to be happy in your marriage and in this life. undecided

There are Indians and people of other nationalities in the same UK and they don't particularly think the laws favor women. The major reason why you Nigerians in particular believe that the laws favor women is because your minds were raised in a backward place where men are proclaimed superiors to women and many of you derive your very self-esteem from that idea. If you don't like it over in the UK, don't bother showing up in America or anywhere else in the more civilized climes cause you won't find it any easier. grin

don't mind all those oversabi misogynist that call themselves feminist. All those fools with misplaced priorities, this man is trying to make people understand the value of family n raising children together than going apart He made it clear something's are best settled at home cos if it escalates n it leads to divorce it will affect d children more. That botrneck or botreglad that quoted me is just another wannabe woke man, I guess he doesn't have issues with his wife at home cos if we are to go by his logic then couples should call police on each other at every small disagreement so it won't turn big
It is not his place to do that, particularly when in that uniform. The police job is not the protection of family values or the idea of it. That is absolutely none of the business of the police, and so this man was wrong in doing what he did. undecided
