Hi Kdamilola,

My IELTS result goes thus: listening= 5.5, reading =6, writing=6 speaking=7.5, overall 6.5. Is this score sufficient for visa processing for master of research considering the low score in listening. I have been given ission already.
Thank you

Kdamilola:

Hello!

I'm sorry, I may not be the best to answer this because I've never done one myself; however, I'll try. The University of Sydney English language requirement states that overall 6.5 score is required, with no band less than 6.0. This means that it may be different from school to school.

Also, since you already have an ission (MSc by Research for that matter), I believe DHA may be able to accept whatever score your university accepts to make decision on your visa (The website states that you do not need to provide evidence of English test score if you are enrolled in a ed post-graduate research course). You can try to read more about the requirements from the DHA website (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/student-500#Eligibility) to learn more about what applies to you.

Regards.

Actually @89omowu, it differs just like @kdamilola has said.

But you have the required overall score and should give it a try.

What course did you graduate from? And what was your CGPA?

These should aid in picking a course that's on the skilled application list.

Check online for the list. If you need help with your application, send a message

Hi everyone, I’ll appreciate a bit of guidance on my situation here please.

I’m 23 and I’ve just graduated from a university here in Nigeria and I’ve applied to study Masters in Public health in Australia.

With the recent negative experience for Nigerian study visas, do you think I should apply for a bachelors degree instead so I can have a strong case for my visa application or should I stick to masters?
Kingdave007: 6:43am On Jan 16
Generally, most Australian Universities require you to pay your first year tuition. It is even advisable. Although some Universities allow Semeter payments. For Visa processing you'd have to show enough funds

Hello guys and happy holidays. Been following this thread for years and Finally settled my mind on university of southern Queensland. When paying for school fees am I required to pay the fees as a lump sum annually or per semester? I will appreciate any answers or advice. Thank you.

Sorry about that, the holiday season slows things down a bit, when did you apply?

This thread is uncharacteristically quiet.

People who have applied for visas, what's your status.

A lot of us are waiting and it's becoming unbearable.

Hi guys, pls I want to lodge my Australia student visa application next month December but my Nigerian port will expire in May 2025. Is it recommended I do a port renewal or I can still use the port to apply. Thank you

Reanzi:

I think you need six months of validity on your port. Please confirm from immi website. It's there.

You're right...Minimum of 6 months, but if you can..please make a new port ASAP

wow this is great. This is what is holding me back from applying to Australia for PhD because I didn't have publication.

Yes, they look out for publications and proven resesrch experience for PHD applicants, especially those seeking scholarships. Either one or the other or both can work.

Usually, once a school accepts your application, and offers you a spot.. you have a good chance at getting a Visa. But that also depends on the tier of the University you want to attend sonI always advice to add all relevant documents.

Ikechukwu09:

I didn't have any publication but I have good research experience across non-profit, public and private companies.

I thought my not having a publication would spoil things, but my supervisors really had faith in me.

Congratulations @Ikechukwu09, how's the Visa processing coming along?

Study loans are available but you must have funds for tuition deposit and gain ission in a loan eligibleuniversityand a loan eligible course

Kingdave007: 7:40pm On Nov 06, 2024
For the SOA, it depends. Generally, with a full scholarship, an SOA might not be necessary. Butt adding an SOA with sufficient funds can help strengthen your application, demonstrating financial stability. If you choose to include an SOA,my advice is to have a SOA of not less tgan AUD30,000

To be safer, add the IELTS test scores

For your home ties, include all the relevant documents, affidavits etc
Ikechukwu09:
Hello all,

I have been granted full scholarship for my PhD at WSU. I have a short window to apply for visa as I am to resume in Jan. I already have the COE from the school, but these are my queries:

How much has to be in my SOA if I am attaching one. Or if I need to attach any at all, given the full scholarship, which includes living expenses of $35k yearly.

Do I need to attach IELTS as the school did not require it. And I heard it is exempted for PhDs.

Ties include an affidavit stating that I have inherited land; a company which I am shareholder and director. The CEO has written that I will be returning to work as COO. I also am a secretary of an arts community, while holding an appointment with a state governor.

How does this profile look and what else might hamper visa approval.

Waiting for your responses, my Egbons.

My Budget is between 15000 to 30000 euro. Is this possible to achieve a PHD in Australia. Also, I am not sure if i should try the skilled visa route.
it is possible but PhD isn't one year and the application process isn't as straight forward as that of an Msc

Hi Guys,

I'm looking for a cheap or funded university to study PHDa in Australia. I'm based in Europe and wants to migrate with my family. Your assistance will be helpful.

'Cheap' is relative sir, firstly what is your budget for a PhD in Australia ?

Zbk001:
Nope, I have reached out to Auckland and Lincoln University, and they said that I can finance
my tuition with loan, meaning deposit is not a compulsory requirement.

desertboom:

Loan?

How? Who provides the loan? Is there a financial body to provide loan?

Please, how can I benefit? Kindly make me understand

That's right, you're not required to pay full tuition, and yes you can finance your education with a loan but in most cases, loan companies would not offer you a loan if you haven't paid a tuition deposit.

Again, I can help you guys out with the rest of the processes

I will suggest that you do a PGD in Geophysics and make sure you do very well. After your PGD, then go ahead to do the WES evaluation of your Undergraduate and PGD transcripts. Make sure you also do well in your GRE. This will help you in your applications for masters.

I hope this helps.

Yes it does...thank you very much. Also from research I found out that Canada doesn't have a Geophysics PGD course or something related and I sent e-mails to two random schools asking if they accept Nigerian PGD results but I received no reply.

Do you know if a Nigerian PGD result can also be used to get a Canadian MSC ?

I know they don't place emphasis on the GRE
Kingdave007: 7:27pm On May 09, 2019
Good evening Mr. Dafe. I appreciate you taking out the time to reply queries here. I'm new in the thread.

I Graduated in 2016 with a degree in Geophysics and a CGPA of 2.65 and I have been trying to get an ission to study an MSc in Canada but I've been rejected twice because of my CGPA.

Please I want to know:

Is it possible to get a direct MSc ission in the US with my CGPA if I do the GRE exam?
Is it possible to get an MSc ission in the US or Canada with a PGD from Nigeria?

If not, what do you suggest I do? Thanks
