Ogun State Governor Gbenga Daniel hinted yesterday of his plan to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Shorn of his role as the Southwest Coordinator for Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, embattled Daniel shunned the kick-off of the PDP presidential campaign in the Southwest in Ibadan. Daniel, who said he had planned to attend the rally but could not because his ers prevented him by protesting their ill-treatment, threatened to pull out of the PDP “if people who continue to play God” do not want him any longer. Dressed in a white attire with an ox-blood cap, Daniel spoke at his Aseludero Court, Sagamu home to his aggrieved ers, among them his factional governorship candidate, Gboyega Isiaka, Mr Waliu Taiwo, senatorial candidate for Ogun West and Deputy Governor Alhaja Salmot Badru. He lamented that his faction followed the appropriate procedure to produce candidates with INEC officials and various security agencies witnessing the process, yet the candidates were rejected. “I was about going to Ibadan. You came to block the way and when I asked why, I was told the people of the state are unhappy and aggrieved. I pray that God will take away those who made us angry. “We have been ruling Ogun State honestly and truthfully and the people appreciate and commend us. But some people came to disorganise things, playing God. “I don’t know the kind of luck that has befallen PDP in the Southwest. The first casualty was Oyo State where Ladoja was impeached, followed by Ekiti where Fayose, who was a very hardworking governor, was removed. We are yet to be told what Fayose stole that others have not stolen ten times. People who stole the nation dry are today walking free on the streets. “PDP in Southwest has lost Ondo State. Osun State, the one we all thought was the anointed and preferred child, has also gone. In Ogun State, as God liveth, we have been troubled since the past five years. They took us to court, brought EFCC and they could not do anything. “Those who did not come out, who did not know about the party and did not participate were said to have won the primaries. I will never lead you astray and I promise that none of your candidate will be substituted,” Daniel said. He went on: “After fasting, it would be broken. We have fasted and we will break our fast tomorrow (today). Then you will all know where we are going. This is Ogun State where we have been truthful.” http://thenationonlineng.net/web3/news/27350.html |

I never knew Daniel to be a game changer; a sorry MD of Krestal Laurel who was brought in by the Master himself now turned to be the master's enemy. My pity only goes to Bankole because he has lost gallantly. He is not a dogged fighter and i don't blame as he lacks the will and power to play politics but only riding on his father's contribution towards building a strong and virile PDP in Ogun alas Nigeria. In my wildest dream would i have believed Bankole to belong to Daniels's camp ( I wonder what Dino Melaye would do in the hallow chamber today seeing that Bankole is a fellow looser) after all the said and done. Baba, the grandmaster, I hail thee and i can see you are always smiling but be merciful towards Abiola's family. |

In keeping with my word given on this page last year where I said the life of every Nigerian has a personal value to me, I, Good luck Jonathan, immediately ordered the evacuation of Nigerians from Egypt when the situation there escalated. Nigerians should be proud to note that before nationals from other countries were evacuated, Nigeria had evacuated over 500 of her nationals. Abuja – No fewer than 500 Nigerians returned from Egypt early on Thursday and were received by the Foreign Affairs Minister for State Hajia Salamatu Suleiman at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. The returnees were made up students, government officials, businessmen and others. President Goodluck Jonathan had directed the immediate evacuation of Nigerians from Egypt following the political unrest in that country. Receiving them, Salamatu expressed government’s commitment to the protection of its citizens wherever they are across the globe. Responding on behalf of the returnees, Col. Abdulmumuni Aminu commended the Federal Government for its quick response to the plight of the people, adding that the experience was traumatic for them, following the closure of banks, and other basic amenities. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/02/500-nigerians-return-from-egypt/ |

There seems to be a battle for supremacy between the Nigerian Navy and the Nigerian Merchant Navy with the former accusing the latter of impersonating the naval personnel by wearing its uniform. The cold war which has lingered for some years reached its peak last week, when the Nigerian Navy clamped down on the commandant of the Nigerian Merchant Navy, Commodore Aderemi Olatinwo, allegedly on the order of the Chief of Naval Staff. In a statement made available to the media by Commodore Olatinwo, he cited several efforts earlier made by the Nigerian Merchant Navy to reach out to the Nigerian Navy on the need to understand the complementary role of the organisation, which he said the Nigerian Navy did not honour. According to Olatinwo, the Nigerian Merchant Navy has been in existence since 1914 while the Nigerian Navy was in 1956 seconded from the Nigerian Merchant Navy to form what is today known as the Nigerian Navy. The Nigerian Navy, he said inherited some of the uniforms, structures and equipment of the Nigeria Merchant Navy.” Olatinwo who said, ideally, there should be a symbiotic relationship between the two as it is the case in other countries, lamented that, “there had been a frosty relationship between the Merchant Navy and the Gunnery Navy which should not be ordinarily, if there is an understanding of each other’s comple mentary roles.” http://www.nigeriamasterweb.com/ |

Not holding brief for Soludo though, Aganga has over the time shown ineptitude and incompetency in the discharge of his duty going by his role in the resignation of the then minister of state for finance, Remi Babalola who held the bull by the horn by telling whoever cared to listen that NNPC was insolvent. Aganga countered him by saying otherwise.

come to think of it fellow NLs, must our leaders always call for a debate to drive home a point? Initially, it was the Ogun Lawmaker calling the Executive for a debate to a law for a N100B bond to Atiku calling for GEJ in a duet. Now its Soludo wanting to take on Aganga. I hope Nigerians would not call Jega to a debate on national TV? |
