These fishes are too young for harvesting. They ought to be left for some time so they can attain adulthood and full size.

That's the problem with Nigeria, you see a picture like this and everyone start thinking about their stomach and appetite. The most important question is what about tomorrow, the fisherman shouldn't be surprised when he goes back to the river another day and comes back empty.

Those young fishes he just caught should have been allowed to mature and reproduce so that in future there will be more. That's how sustainability and growth is achieved. And not by eat today and forget tomorrow.

yea,i am... Its even the indigenous dish for the urhobo's.Its highly fattening o.What do u expect from a soup made with palm oil, starch/garri and potash;no vegetable at all.The starch or yam for eating the soup does not help matters sef.

It depends on how you prepare the owo soup. We cook ours with palm oil, starch, garri, native and non-native potash, periwinkle, water leaf and pumpkin leave.

You can add vegetables if you want to it aids digestion and it's more nutritious. Unlike the native owo that is just light and plain.

When you prepare it with the vegetables it becomes more like a soup because then you can only eat it with starch not unripe plantain and yam. You can try it, you won't be sorry.

People are so subjective, society permits mothers to handle the children both male and female.

But when it comes to the fathers there's prejudice against them becoming too physically attached to the kids.

So fathers are not allowed to display parental love and care according to some people in society today.

Fathers out there and would-be fathers will you allow society dictate to you how to cater for your children as regards physical connection and affection?

A Swedish footballer has hit out after being sent off for breaking wind during a match – with the referee accusing him of “deliberate provocation” and “unsportsmanlike behaviour”.
More on this topic

Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, who was playing at left-back in the match between Järna SK’s reserve team and Pershagen SK, was shown a second yellow card late on in what local media called “bizarre circumstances”.

“I had a bad stomach, so I simply let go,” the 25-year-old told Länstidningen Södertälje. “Then I received two yellow cards and then red. Yes, I was shocked, it’s the strangest thing I have ever experienced in football.

“I asked the referee, ‘What, am I not allowed to break wind a little?’ ‘No,’ he replied … I don’t get it but maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not.”

Opposition striker Kristoffer Linde told the paper: “I was standing a good distance away but I heard the fart loud and clear. It’s the strangest thing I’ve seen on a pitch, and I’ve been playing football since I was eight years old.”

The referee, Dany Kako, confirmed that Ljungkvist had received the second yellow card for breaking wind, explaining: “I perceived it as deliberate provocation. He did it on purpose and it was inappropriate. Therefore, he received a yellow card.”

Ljungkvist told Aftonbladet: “To provoke anyone with a fart is not particularly smart or normal. It’s nonsense – I just broke wind and got a red card. I spoke to the referee afterwards, I was annoyed, but there were no bad words. I just said he was a buffoon.”

Kako said he had experienced similar incidents before. “Once there was a player who stood and peed next to the pitch. I showed him a yellow card, too.”

This photograph of a father holding his son in the shower has been shared tens of thousands of times on Facebook in the last fortnight. But over the same period it's also also been taken down by the social media platform more than once before ultimately being reinstated each time. Why?
In some ways the picture appears to show a fairly everyday scene. A dad cradling his severely sick child in his arms. Except in this instance, they are in the shower and both naked. The picture was posted on social media by the photographer Heather Whitten who lives in Arizona in the US. It shows her son Fox and her husband, the boy's father Thomas Whitten.
For many viewers the image is a touching portrait of parental care and affection. The reason that father and son were naked was because Fox had Salmonella poisoning for which he would soon after be hospitalised.
"Thomas had spent hours in the shower with him, trying to keep his fever down and letting the vomit and diarrhea rinse off of them both as it came," Whitten wrote in her post accompanying the photo.
"He was so patient and so loving and so strong with our tiny son in his lap... I stepped out and grabbed my camera and came back to snap a few images of it and, of course shared them."
But for some people the image is inappropriate at best and at worst has undertones of paedophilia. Whitten has been surprised by this reaction and was shocked when people posted negative comments about what was for her a beautiful moment.
"There is nothing sexual or exploitative about this image," she wrote in the initial post. "I was taken aback by how many people missed the story or didn't even look past the nudity to find the story."

I definitely will not.

Marriage is partnership, and it means working together.

A man should be able to look after himself and stand strong, likewise a woman.

Society has made people over-dependent on others, which shouldn't be. A woman shouldn't need a man because he can give her money, so also a man shouldn't need a woman because she can run the home and take care of him.

Both partners should complement each other, and not one solely relying on the other.

This is just something I wanted share with all of you. Considering how important it is obtaining a higher qualification in Public Health like the MPHs and MScs, it would also be of tremendous benefit If for all of you, if you also consider Volunteerism.

Public Health Practitioners are not just people with big "MPHs and PhDs". They are first and foremost Humanitarians who pride themselves in putting their ion for the better health of others first before profit. In other words, "ion before Profit ".

There are many ways you can start your career in Public Health, but one sure way is by volunteering in organizations, local NGOs, civil societies and even orphanages.

You can a CBO or a CSO, you can promote little projects for youths and adolescents in schools. You can as well visit the nearest Primary Health Care Facility around you and see if they have any community group association ing them in which you can be part of.

We need to look beyond the classroom and the universities because sometimes experience comes before certificates in acquiring certain jobs in Public Health . One thing about public health is that no matter how little you begin your career, you will keep going higher and higher.

So everyone look around and become interested in what you're studying not just for the certificate, but most importantly, in PRACTICING it now before your dream job comes along.

It would give you an edge, believe me.

The best book in the world MY BIBLE.

Every other one is second.

Not many people on this thread has mentioned an autobiography.

And I don't think anyone here has ever read "Black Boy".

It was written by Richard Wright. I believe that his life's story as narrated in the book is the closest description of what life was like for black people living in America in the early centuries. Most especially in the South.

The amazing thing about this book is that when you're reading it, it somehow makes you picture yourself in that exact time and place as the events unfold.

It's more than a novel, it makes you laugh, it makes you cry and most times it makes you ponder. At times you wish you were there inside as the story is being told.

But most of all, it makes you appreciate the life you're living now and the time and era in which you've been born.

It's a book for deep minds and one of the best s of a true life story I've ever come across.

Richard Wright's style of writing is simply captivating.

Give it a try.

Please house, could you enlighten me on how well does the discipline Demography and Social Statistics fit into public health? Thank you very much.

That's an amazing field of study. In public health there's great demand for researchers, data analysts, statisticians and people who can efficiently carry out field research involving population and household studies.

Those in the field of monitoring, evaluation, measurement and learning are usually statisticians, skilled in the field of population studies, demography and development studies.

There are other disciplines that are beneficial to public health practitioners, such fields are Gender Studies, Development Studies, Health Planning & Management, Health Economics the list is endless.

You can become a specialist in data collection, mapping and deg of data analysis tools for field based research surveys.

When public health practitioners in NGOs want to measure the level of impact their health projects have in addressing it's intervention strategies, they call in researchers who are in the discipline you mentioned.

So if that's where your interest lies, then carry on.

We saw it coming. Just like the flood of Noah's days. Others thought it was a joke, some thought it was a scam.

Now here we are.

A bag of foreign rice almost N20,000. A bag of local rice soaring to almost N15,000.

Let's save our economy by eating what we produce. Money flown out during food importation can not be in the economy at the same time. We are complaining that there is no money, the US Dollar is soaring. Naira will only grow when domestic productivity grows.

No entity can earn income without production be it an individual, firm, community or nation. Where do we want Nigeria 's revenue to come from when dollars keep going out to buy foreign rice?

Buy and eat proudly Nigerian 100% local content.

Good Morning,

So how much is your bag of rice currently?
I'm interested in buying.
