*TEXT:* COLOSSIANS 3: 1-11 _*(NKJV)*_

3:1. If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
3:2. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
3:3. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
3:4. When Christ [who is] our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.
3:5. Therefore put to death your which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, ion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.
3:6. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience,
3:7. in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
3:8. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

*MESSAGE:*

Today is the beginning of Rogation Days - a period devoted to praying for our occupations. It is remarkable that this period comes after Easter and our age today has a post-resurrection message for us. What then is the relationship between the Rogation period, Easter and our text today? It is very simple: That since we have risen with Christ, our affection should be on things above. In other words, having risen from sin and worldliness, our focus and goal should be on eternal things, so that our legitimate means of income are no longer our master but a means to serve the Lord.

When you see your occupation through the mirror of God's word, you will realise that you have to engage in that occupation in line with God's word, as a means of serving Christ, and God will be committed to blessing your occupation. As you grow in this experience, you will know the true meaning of godly prosperity, and giving will no longer be a struggle because it will become clear to you that it is actually from what God has given you that you give back to him. Then, our occupation becomes a means of pleasing God. Does your occupation please God?

READ: EPHESIANS 5:22-24 (NKJV)

5:22. Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.
5:23. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
5:24. Therefore, just as the church is subject to Christ, so [let] the wives [be] to their own husbands in everything.

THE MESSAGE:

It is important to note that in Bible teachings, encounter precedes doctrine, in other words, before God places a behavioural demand on man, He has made a provision for encounter with Him, so that the behaviour when expressed, becomes a reflection of God's glory and not a manifestation of man's 'achievement.'. This principle applies in our text for today: God originally designed marriage to reflect the relationship between Christ and the Church; and the matrimonial instructions in our age are deliberately put after we have been shown who we are in Christ (as seen in chapters 1 to 3 of the Book of Ephesians). Against that backdrop therefore, we are shown how believing couples should live.

For Christians, submission and love are expressions of humility, trust and reverence towards God's design for marriage. It involves a willingness to yield to one another and consider a priority, the needs and well-being of the spouse. However, Christian marriage among other things, should emphasize mutual submission, sacrificial love, and servant leadership. Therefore, whether you are married or not, please note that God desires our daily living to mirror His character, especially in our homes. Are you still in love with your wife? Wife, do you submit to your husband?

PRAYER: Lord, please build our homes to glorify You, Amen!

*MESSAGE:*

The phrase "redeeming the time" implies making the most of every opportunity or making the best use of the limited time we have. It involves a sense of urgency and intentionality on how we spend our time. The reason is that the days are evil - the world is filled with sin, corruption, moral decay and all kinds of evil. Therefore, believers should not be ive in the face of evil, but actively engage in godly living and deliberate use of our time to make a positive impact on the world around us.

Practically speaking, redeeming the time involves making our priority, things of eternal value over temporal and unimportant pursuits. It means using our time to pursue God's purposes, to grow in our relationship with Him, and to serve others. This may involve activities such as prayer, studying the scripture, worship and fellowship, and engaging in acts of kindness and service. Redeeming the time requires being intentional about avoiding time-wasting activities or things that lead us away from the will of God. It may involve setting boundaries on our use of technology, managing our commitments and priorities wisely, and being mindful of how we allocate our God-given resources, including time and energy. May the Lord give us grace to always redeem the time.
