Hello people,i finally took the gre yesterday and got an abysmal score of 280.i was so disappointed esp after putting in months of active study.well i have to move on so i thinks ishould retake the exams bur i need to be sure i can get better scores so for those who had to retake the exam,what particular thing did u do.before the exam i was already having serious headache,the RC made it worse.i love to read but time factor did not allow me assimilate the ages to answer correctly so pls i need strategies for Rc.
Secondly,if i decide to retake in january 2019,would it still be possible to meet up fall deadline?Finally i just got ission to msc in one of the state universities here in nigeria,do u think i should follow through with it or wait to see if the abroad works?pls i need urgent advice my people.thanks

I'm a silent but ardent follower and reader of this thread.
i'm a very busy person so I didnt have all the time to prepare for my GRE and TOEFL.
GRE:
Preparation time : almost 3 months off and on
Scores:Q :152 V : 152 : AW :3.0\
Materials Used : All materials from nairaland.
Lesson Learnt: I didn't devote time for practice.I did only two PowerPrep tests,(not full tests).In summary my prep was awful.
TOEFL :
Preparation time: 1 week
SCORES :Reading:26 Listening: 28 Speaking : 26 Writing : 28
Materials Used : Notefull Videos
Lesson Learnt : No need to Study too much for TOEFL if you actually graduated from university and earned your degree.Just understand the exam setup.

GPA: UG: 3.3/4.0
PG (Msc): about 3.68/4.0

On Applications:
I cannot over emphasis what I've gained from this forum.It has been said time without number Profs that you hope to do research with.
With this in mind I ed profs,some replied while some didn't. But fortunately for me even before applying, I can say I already have two profs that have accepted me already with funding I hope.(because this is the koko, and we discussed about it already).
On this note I wish all 2019 hopefulls all the best in this application round.

I hope to comment in the future that one of our veterans here came to pick me up at JFK..(winks)

Hello everyone. I have my gre slated for Oct 11 and I really need to know the best books and strategies to prepare for the quant section as mathematics has never been my thing. I have the Manhattan 8,5lb, nova gre Bible, Barron and almost every other materials. I'm just not certain of which of the books would be the best to prepare with.

Sure it's tough.

The worst thing , you can't and continue where you stop. Each is a fresh registration.
So its advisable to have all documents at hand and information.


Am yet to do the PTDF registration sha. Hopefully first week of February.. Kind of busy right now

pls what documents are needed for the daad application.

Seriously I feel everybody criticizing the whatsapp group creation is biased. Think about the multitude of information we needed to share, think about convenience, imagine yourself about to go to a visa interview and you needed an important info yet you had just 2 mins to get it, which would you prefer a whatsapp group or NL?

That is just a glimpse of the several issues we had to combat. We were pressed hard against time. We had to many things to do with so little time. Literarily every second mattered.

Also the volume of info, if we were to share them here, I'm sure you all will be the ones suggesting we go get privacy, that we are disturbing you too much.

I just got the time to go on web now since then. Finally I'm settled in now.

For those looking to apply next year, I wish you resounding success.

For those that will still criticize, I'm sorry but like you are trying to do (get what pleases you), we made the decision we think is easiest and best for us (the whatsapp group) so it has nothing to do with keeping legal information away from anyone.
