After 6 yrs + 1 I'm proud to announce that I'm now a doctor..the journey was not easy but I thank God that I made this decision
Congratulations to 023 medical graduate from UNN... Congratulations ISIS
In all these nothing to portray that you are a “DENTIST”
After 7 years of being in UNN you still can’t boldly put your degree on your post, this is sad, dental graduates needs to start letting people know their degree, stop this nonsense bro, he say na “Medical graduate” lmao

Please I need advice.
I am an mbbs aspirants who scored 339 with 4B3 and 1 A1 currently running JUPEB in unilorin.
But I have an uncle telling me to pick Unilag. But I am scared due to the fact that Unilag mbbs cut off mark was around 86 in 2022,84 in 2023.
And I don't know what it might be in 2024 considering the fact that a lot of people scored 300+ this year.
Unilorin on the other hand has a very slow academic calendar to the extent that the 2023/2024 aspirants haven't been itted.
I need advice because I don't want to waste 339 this year🙏🙏

Hi dear aspirant preparing for post-UME and aspiring for a medical course.
I'm Joshua, a medical student at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
On my YouTube channel I post content that can help you make better decisions as regards your studies and ultimately secure ission to that dream course of your's. I just created a crash-course on nervous coordination which has been ed on my channel. Similar videos on various topics are also lined up for on the coming days. Click the link below this message to access my YouTube channel. It'll also mean a lot if you can subscribe, turn on the post notification bell and also recommend my YouTube channel to your friends, classmates and acquaintances.
Just seeing this & quoting it.
Abeg, UNN is the worst medical school among the 1st generation universities. Too much greed and artificial problems.
Biko, run from that sch. It's not worth it. They sell ission like mad. Overpopulation doesn't make them a better student. Instead it reduces their quality. Imagine 30 students on 1 cadaver.
If you have an alternative elsewhere, biko don't hesitate to take it. I'll rather study in Borno, UNI MAIDUGURI rather than go UNN.
There is no perfect school in Nigeria, you don’t need to dissect a cadaver to be a good doctor, most great doctors don’t know much anatomy today, just residual knowledge and great knowledge in their specialty, that post I made, there is no perfect medical school in Nigeria, in Nigeria 80% of what you retain as medical student is what you impact in yourself we are in the 21st century there are YouTube channels pathoma and Dr najeeb has played more roles in my life as student than any lecturer in my school
UNN has population issues but there are a lot of pros in UNN we are the fastest federal medical school in Nigeria, that’s enough compensation I know many medical school like UNICAL and others that have still not inducted 021 doctors and UNILAG too we are like 2 years ahead of them calendar wise, sit that out bro

Hi Doctors in the house I planned on applying MBBS this 2024 Jamb
Between Unilag and UI which is more transparent with their MBBS ission?
And what are the criterias for getting MBBS in both Universities including Jamb score, Putme score and O level result?
To top it all, am from Kwara State and I could have gotten MBBS in 2023 jamb with 290 at Usman danfodio University Sokoto but due to financial means I didn't later pursue the ission😭. But now my Uncle promised to sponsor me by all means and he is suggesting I should go to Unilag or UI. I lives currently with him in Agura, Ikorodu Lagos.
Please I sincerely need ur honest opinions about this🙏
Convince him about Udusok again you stand better chances there
I hope it is really what you want and your ion? When we say ion. It's something you enjoy doing. That even if you are owed for 3 months as a doctor. You still come to work smiling and not taking out frustration on innocent patients.
A footballer will still joyfully accept paycut or be owed and still smile playing football. I hope you do the same as a doctor
Team MBBS or nothing still exists in this 21st century . Well-done anyways you try
I'm about to write my first MBBs exam on March, I'd like if you folks could tag this message with common viva questions that are usually asked and viva questions you were asked in your time as well.
Viva is pure luck however for BIC know the digestion and absorption of all the classes of food,The examiner may ask you what you ate that morning if you say Rice he might ask you to talk about the digestion and absorption of carbohydrates, if you use eyeglasses and you don’t know the mechanism of visual acquity for Physio don’t bother wearing your glasses to the viva room or read about visual acquity before entering, for anatomy you should know bones Atleast, take your atlas you mustn’t read the section of osteology in your last, just use your atlas to know the parts and try to learn the muscles attaching to it, viva is very short, before you talk about 3 or 4 land marks they may leave bone and ask you another then you are done!
In general viva is luck during my first MB(Anatomy Physio and biochemistry )I read throughout the eve of viva I went there and they didn’t ask me anything I read it was based on my residual knowledge I used in answering the questions they asked
In my second mb (Pharm and path) for path the man just asked me if “I would be a good doctor” I said yes he asked me what good doctors do to their patients, that was my viva on HAEMATOLOGY, in morbid MCB and Chen path it was just basic questions they asked however some other persons who entered had harder questions, viva is just luck
In my Oral biology viva same thing I spent my whole night reading what they asked me was not what I read!!
Look at this crazy boy.
As a doctor woth several years of experience working at the tertiary level of hospitals in Nigeria, i can comfortably tell you that optometrists are never allowed to prescribe any medication to any patients.
Any patient visiting the hospitals' eye unit belongs to the ophthalmologists. Who will allow you have that access to them in the first place before you can even prescribe the drugs you don't know much about to them?
I know far more than you do about the specific roles of the allied health professionals in the hospital settings.
Their roles within government hospitals are limited to prescribing optical aids.
It doesn't matter what you do outside/in private where there's no monitoring or regulations, just like many others practising quackery in Nigeria.
You know me from Lagusta Thread
Ahhh So you can lie like this
Go back and check the person you know from the so called Lagusta thread cos it’s not me.
How I wish i ever applied Medicine💔😂
200L Students be doing the most wait first and 2nd MB lol and stop making noise
I thought you're also a Dentist in the making? You and the guy you're attacking are on the same page.
This debate doesn't look like it's going to end anytime soon. Whether Dentist oo, medical Dr oo, all na scam as long as you dey this country where semi literates are ruling the literates.
I'm a dentist in the making doesn't mean he is not capping
Must everyone study medicine or dentistry??
By 2morrow if you encounter me on another platform you will be like “Most times it’s people who couldn’t get Medicine that defend pharmacy this way” very poor mind of Africa🤣🏃🏃
Oga shut the fck up lol, say you no no say I know you from Lagusta thread, it was medicine you wanted but as you no fit you come get dentistry come Dey use am solace
AlacrityVictor:
Dentists are not doctors they are farmers
They farm on patients with dental or oral trauma and also the patients oral region is entirely disconnected from the rest of the body😕
Ponzi and Co you guys are matured and civilized enough to be dishing out such delusion to the general public.
Dentists are doctors
Infact they are physicians of the oral & maxillofacial region because:
1. They through both medical and dental science training to obtain a doctorate degree(DDS or DMD)
2. They diagnose
3. They prognoses and treat diseases of the oral region
4. They prescribe drugs
5. They operate on patients
All to the trauma or disorder of the oral region.
But if you feel they are not just wait till you encounter a very severe trauma/disorder in your oral region.
People that reason the way you do are the reason our society is in this menace state.
I could recur one time in school, a nursing student while playing ball hit his face on the iron goal post. And develop an issue in his gum, he noticed some sharp pains so he ran to chemist , all these chemists that do shadow doctors he istered all he could but this guy’s issues keep worsening. He ran to hospital unluckily for him he met one of those Medical doctors that do shadow their dental counterparts cos they feel they know everything, he packed drugs for him and he keep taking them and visiting the hospital.
Few weeks later this guy couldn’t talk any more, the whole of face has swollen even the gum with very severe pain all over. This effect triggered some general body change, like he can feel change in temperature, fever and weakness etc. Every night his cried like a kid due to severity of pain.
To a point he couldn’t eat any longer, someone advised him to better go inside town or the University Teaching hospital and look for a dentist before his issues get out of hand
He ran and luckily he found one who show case after radiological diagnosis that what it is has affected the 3 of his teeth & the gum ( I’ve forgotten what he call it) and at it’s severe state.
The Doctor who is also a prof in UNTH told him that after treatment that he wouldn’t make use of those teeth again unless he want replacement which increased the charge. The doctor told him that it wouldn’t have been like that assuming he come on time.
The doctor operated on him, He spent some time there to get everything done. He couldn’t complete his bill + money for the drugs istered, his course mates made contributions to help him out.
You need to see him when he narrated how he nearly died of pain before he met the right person for the job. That encounter changed his perspective towards dentistry cos what he knows about dentistry b4 then was that it’s just about teeth, he was like “so this people save life too?”
That’s how he researched more and find out it’s far beyond what the society say.
Why did I narrate this? I did cos it’s you people’s expression has made the society to neglect their oral health. And most of the oral disorder in the society today are life threatening, they can trigger general body sickness. I heard Queen Elizabeth died out of Oral disease untreated for a very long time. Medical doctors trying to do the work of their dental counterparts is also another issue that made the society esp Africa to look less on Dentist. Later someone with periodontal disease or maybe a tooth loss will open mouth and say Nigeria does not care about their teeth.
Well whether you study Medicine or Dentistry do it to the best you can, all for the betterment of mankind. There is no way the head can get off the human body, impossicant!
In the nutshell, Dentists are doctors and should be accorded same respect as to their medical counter part. If you’re not okay with it go to court!
Most times it's people who couldn't get medicine and got dentistry that do defend dentistry this way 🤣😀😀
Haha they have come again. You couldn’t get medicine that is why you are bitter . Sorry bro not me. In fact if any of you decide to give me your ission free of charge. I will blatantly refuse it. The lifestyle I envision myself medicine can not give me whether home or abroad so spare me your sermon please.
Mr man people evolve as they get older, you may so much like something or someone this year and next year you hate it with every fiber of your being. The 18 year old that was so ionate about studying medicine in 100 level or 200 level may decide at 24 in 600 level that he just wants to finish get the cert and go into entrepreneurship. If unilag comes to give me medicine and surgery free of charge oga I won’t accept and I thank God for saving me from getting into what will bring gloom to my life. medicine and surgery yenyenyen you must be a 100 level or 200 level student so body never tell you. Don’t worry come back here after 7 years let’s continue the conversation
You have a point I'm less than 2 months to becoming a 500L medical student, I'm 23 years i tell you, my mindset has changed unlike 2017/2018 I was looking for ission i saw this profession as something I would do for a life time the only thing not stopping me from quitting at this point is because I don't have a previous degree, all I need now is this certificate I don't think I would even practice tbvh, ps it is not only me,also some of my class mates too
This DENTISTRY/MEDICINE degree is it really worth it..? This is the second person I'm seeing live failing the 2nd MB exam resit, repeat and taking jamb again, waste of 5 years wtf..! Getting to 3rd year they fail and resit, repeat(another 1 year) fail again and they still go ahead to rewrite jamb nawa ooo, this is the second person I'm seeing doing this in UNN God Abeg
Where is the lie. I know for a fact that most Medical schools do their special postings in final year without Dental students. Did you do psychiatry, opthalmology, etc as part of your undergraduate curriculum? Did you do OnG?.
All the best in the new year and no need to insult anyone.
God bless.
PonziHater
You are asking me if I do psychiatry and ophthalmology, it's obvious you don't know anything lol
Dude, it is very unwise of you to have posted something like this on this thread, this is a thread for medical students and aspirants to get information, not a hospital.
With mandatory house job in OnG and Paed, they can't manage primary care cases? Who do Nigerians this arguement thing?
If you find any medical doctor who can't manage non-specialist OnG or paediatric cases, the noble thing to do is to report them anonymously to uphold the integrity of the profession, because for each rotation in house job, these doctors have to be signed off as competent in specific skills before becoming fully ed.
If your comment is speculation then this should really not be made by an aspiring professional/academics. Assumption is the lowest in the pyramid of learning.
If I can save your life prescribe drug for 90 percent of medical cases I’m not a doctor
