FreeStuffsNG but the dude is presently failing the people, so which strength are we talking about?
Not everyone is displeased with his leadership.

I agree absolutely that some are not happy and that's why we appeal to them to see the good and criticise with credible alternatives without hate or tribal/ religious bigotry.

Again, expectedly the South-East number is low just as the region recorded in other biometric-based data like JAMB enrollment, internet data usage, INEC registration (even satellite images).
This is a wake up reality to South East Governors and the Federal Government. The South East is a low-populated region.

Is this not telling us that the huge VAT, Federal allocation etc to South East is more than enough to improve the lots of the sparsely populated region but some people have been inflating the numbers for corruption and political reasons? With the huge allocation and VAT for a low populated and small land mass region, the South East in reality should be like Doha today!

South Easterners have been long distracted by not holding their political leaders able. They are being short changed by their leaders.

By population strength, there is only one majority tribe in Southern Nigeria and it's the Yoruba.

Yes, I did see the trade surplus in favour of Nigeria but it is glaring that most of our imports are low-hanging fruits that can be corrected within a week. Nothing stops the Nigerian government from establishing a national construction company rather than just awarding expensive contracts to foreigners!
Please back up the @bolded with facts from the reports. On construction, we do have whole ministries of Works from LG, States to Federal Government. There are even special agencies like FERMA, PWD handling direct jobs and we see them. Major Infrastructures requires a whole broad spectrum of stakeholders so it makes sense not to crowd out the private sectors. This is where Nigeria is doing great .

No company without physical presence in Nigeria will ever win the contract. The contract winners employ Nigerians , patronize our cement, quarries, steel, engineering companies and these guys pay tax to government. After the Infrastructures are built, government turns them into real social capital and even recoup back the funds through tolling , adverts etc

When some Nigerians criticize government, it's usually from the position of ignorance and it soon becomes apparent that those in government are smarter than them.

Same way he pushed HE Ambode to ignominy. Smh.

You need to see and read the recent trade of balance for you to appreciate the significant efforts Nigeria has made to shift our trade into surplus exports over import.

Nigeria is no longer heavily dependent on import and the western countries. If the trend is sustained then I pity the west from the Trump onslaught.

Abuja and Lagos have higher population of settlers than indigenes, but Abuja does not have Governors, so the only State that has higher settlers to indigenous population capable of winning election is Lagos State.

Literally a Lagos Vs FG issue.
Fallacy.

Jos , Kaduna and Port Harcourt even have far more settlers than Lagos. That's why those 3 places have scars of bloody war between indigenes and settlers

With your knowledge and everything you have, who was the richest person in Nigeria between 1960 - 1970 to make it brief?
Late Chief Mobolaji Bank-Anthony.

Smh. Ignorance is not bliss o.
Lagos is not your mate o. Sir Louis Ojukwu was wealthy and probably the wealthiest from his part of Nigeria of that time but at no time the richest even in Lagos.

The richest man of that era was Late Chief Mobolaji Bank-Anthony.

Below is his picture and just a portion of some of his wealth was reportedly valued at $50 billion as at 2022
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/05/trustee-raises-alarm-over-50bn-mobolaji-bank-anthony-property/
He singlehandedly built what is today upgraded to LASUTH.
https://www.vanguardngr.com/2022/05/trustee-raises-alarm-over-50bn-mobolaji-bank-anthony-property/

Go and read about others. Sir Louis Ojukwu has never been the richest person in Nigeria.
Below is another interesting piece.

Dear @TadyesSol,

Thank you for your . In direct answer to your question, I get a lot of my history from official Hansards of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, where I worked from 2002 to 2003, and still have access to. I do not talk or write without the strong backing of documentary evidence.

Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu was a wealthy man. However, he was neither a billionaire nor, at any point in time, the wealthiest man in Nigeria.

For example, Sanusi Dantata, the son of Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, was acknowledged by Time Magazine as the wealthiest person in Nigeria by 1965. You may want to read it here by yourself content.time.com/time/subscribe…

His father was also the wealthiest man in West Africa before he ed away.

Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu was next. However, due to the Nigerian Civil War, he lost much of his wealth. But irrespective of the war, he was not the wealthiest man in Nigeria.

Having a Rolls Royce neither makes you a billionaire or the wealthiest person in Nigeria. Many rich people then and now do not indulge in such ostentatious lifestyles.

For example, the Time Magazine article, which I gave you the link to, also mentions Mobolaji Bank Anthony as one of the wealthiest men in Nigeria as of 1965. Yet, despite having such stupendous wealth, Mr. Bank Anthony did not buy himself a Rolls Royce. What he did with his money was to build a series of free hospitals, which he donated to the Lagos government, including the Ikeja General Hospital, and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi.

You may be confusing loud ostentatiousness for wealth.

Eight persons were mentioned as the wealthiest people in Nigeria by Time in 1965. They include:

Sanusi Dantata, 46
Odumegwu Ojukwu, 66
Mobolaji Bank-Anthony, 59
Emmanuel Akwiwu, 43
Shafi Lawal Edu, 54
Timothy Adeola Odutola, 63
Ade Tuyo, 63
Bayo Braithwaite, 36

Of the eight, five were from the Lagos-Ogun axis. One was from Kano. One from Port Harcourt, and one from Nnewi.

I hope this helps you understand history better.

Thanks again, and may God bless you.

Once upon a time, an Igbo name dominated richest person in Nigeria.
Forget, Nigeria happened to we Igbos.
Regardless, we move!
Smh. Please go and read about Chief Ajasa Akitoye, Shitta-Bey, Vaughan, Darocha, Cardoso, Macaulay, Taylor, Petgrave, Braithwaite etc and their families before anyone outside Yorubaland part of Southern Nigeria even stepped foot in Lagos.

Even the highly ired Sir Louis Ojukwu came much later to Lagos and it's poor history to regard him to be richer than those he met as highly successful and very wealthy in Lagos before he came to Lagos. It's unfair and disrespectful when you blame others for Nigeria not blessing you when all you do is curse Nigeria.

Read below

This is from the many private documentations compiled by archivist Pa Oloko Alli-Balogun, an octogenarian from Lagos.

The population of Lagos Colony was analysed into 'Yoruba' and 'Non-Yoruba' tribes:

1. Eko tribe had fallen from 57% in 1872 to 23.6% 20 years later.
2. Popo or Egun tribe was 15.85%,

3. Other Yoruba groups
Oyo - 11.6%
Ijebu - 11.01%
Awori - 9.26%
Egba - 6.05%
Ijesha - 4.32%
Egbado - 3.63%
Ekiti/Efon people - 1.76%

4. Non-Yoruba groups
Nupe/Tapa - 1.86%
Hausa - 1.86%
The Kru - 1.37%.

The strength of the Eko tribe was concentrated in Wards A, B, C and D of Lagos Town and Harbour, and the Central District of Ebute Metta/Yaba.

The Aworis were concentrated in the Central District and the Popo's or Egun in the Western District.

This information can be obtained from The Nigerian Nolstagia group 1960 - 1980 project on www.facebook.com

As at this time in Lagos, no single individual from the whole Eastern Nigeria had stepped foot in Lagos.
