THE PRAYER OF “LET MY HEAVENS OPEN” AN INSULT TO THE FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS JOHN 10:9 WHO SAYS THE HEAVEN HAS CLOSED ON YOU? DID YOU REALLY THINK GOD WILL DO THAT TO HIS OWN CHILD?. James 1:17 says, every good and perfect gift comes from the father of light in whom there is no variableness or shadow of turning. Even the earthly fathers knows how to give good gift to their children, how much more will our heavenly father give good things to His very own children who call unto Him. Lack of knowledge of whom a person is, is indeed a disease, and such as those that lack identity are the very ones that will suffer identity crisis. This one thing I discovered in some believers gathering is the prayer of “let my heavens open”. Some will even go as far as saying the heaven of Joy, the heaven of peace, the heaven greatness, wealth, money, promotion, ission etc. I attended a 7 days revival and throughout the 7 days, the prayer of let my heaven opens was prayed right from the beginning to the very end, and I was left with the thought that, what happened to the heaven that was opened the very first day, has God closed it again. Must believers say the prayer every time before blessings can be released ?. The truth of the matter is that the church and especially most believers still did not know the extent or the importance of the finished work of Christ on the cross of Calvary. Jesus while on the cross among many other things has purchased our freedom, and gave us right standing with himself and God. Everything in heaven and on earth has been subjected to us. The cross has given us access into the heavenly, and we know longer need to beg and pray every day at every meeting for our heaven to open before we can make something happen on earth or receives God’s blessings. AT THE CROSS: THE VEIL HAS BEEN TORN Mathew 27:51 The veil that got torn is the symbolic representation of what happens in the Spiritual Realm (Heaven). At the cross heaven’s gate and doors has been opened never to be closed again (psalm 24:7-10). The lord through David says prophetically that “Lift up your heads o yee gates and be yee lifted up the everlasting doors that the king of glory may enter. Hebrews 9:7-21 In the Old Testament, the High priest is the only one having access to the innermost part of the temple, however, Jesus who is our high priest took his blood, sprinkled the sacred vessels… (Ephesians 2: 13-14), and the wall of partition between us and the eternal God has he broken down. Hebrew 4:16 (AMP) For this very purpose Apostle Paul can boldly say “let us therefore approach the throne of grace and mercy where we can obtain mercy and find grace to help in the time of need”. The fact that heavens is closed on an individual is therefore an insult to the finished work on the cross. CHRIST IS THE ACCESS John 10:9 Christ is the access, He is the key, we no longer need to cry, beg, nor pray to God to open our heaven, “For at the name of Jesus every kneel in heaven and on earth shall bow...” Philippians 2:10. In Christ. Mathew 16:19… “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven…” Christ therefore has given us authority in the heavenly places and on earth… “In the name of Jesus”. THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS IN THE HOUSE God is in heaven, so also is He on earth, in fact we are His temple and He lives in us. It is the belief of many people that the temple of God is the house of God. The house of God in the sense that the presence (Holy Spirit) and the name of God dwells there. People go to church with the belief that they will meet Gods presence there, and this will necessitate them receiving their blessings. 2 Corinthians 3:17 Wherever the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. GOD HAS SET BEFORE YOU AN OPEN DOOR AND HE HAS RICHLY BLESSED YOU. Revelation 3:8, Ephesian 1:3, 8 God has richly blessed us with all things (Spiritual Blessings) in Christ Jesus. I therefore reiterate that we no longer need to cry, beg and roll on the floor that God should open our heaven of this and that, what we need to do is to acknowledge the opened doors, and ask for Grace to anticipate and manifest in the blessings of God for our life. WE ARE SONS OF GOD, WE ARE HEAVEN ON EARTH, WE ESTABLISHED THE THINGS OF HEAVEN ON EARTH, WE ARE PRIEST OF THE MOST HIGH GOD, WE ARE HIS PECULIAR PEOPLE, A CHOSEN GENERATION, THE LIGHT OF GOD ON EARTH, WE ARE SEATED WITH CHRIST IN THE HEAVENLIES. 1 Peter 2:9, Ephesians 1:3-8 Considering the above words, who is that father that will close doors against his child, (Of course that’s not God.. the prodigal son whom the father accepted). The sense of possessing coupled with the hunger to rise above other people, the desire to acquire more and more has indeed gone a long way to deter people from seeing the precious promises of God for their very life, making many to pray amiss. Sometimes ago I and my kindred was opportune to attend a prayer meeting where the major prayer point was that of “In my father’s house”, a prayer that is in two folds; “Make me the head and not the tail” and “Where no one has never gotten to in my family, let me be the first to get there”. These are the kind of prayers that are portrayed to be a very powerful prayer points. The kind you see people of the same kindred praying and rolling on the floor to pray (even simultaneously). A Yoruba proverb says “Adura ni koun je ki adura gba” (i.e. it is prayer that hinders prayer from being answered). I was praying, my family are also saying theirs, and then I begin to wonder whose prayer will God answer first. I begin to ponder within me, where is the love, the likes, even for my siblings. I felt like it was as if I was even praying for their demotion indirectly. Think about it, If I pray having the mindset that “I must get to a prominent place before any of them, so that I can extend a helping hand them, I’m I not cursing or praying for their demotion, I’m I not being selfish, I’m I not being influenced by the “Tyranny of Things” “The willingness to always possess or acquire things, a situation that is so powerful enough to drive God out of His central shrine in the heart of every man”. By leaving his glory in heaven (Demoting himself), and coming down to earth to die for our sins. “The practical lesson Jesus wants us to learn here is to love, and always seek for the upliftment of our fellows or neighbors." If therefore you claim to be a new creature in Christ, then the prayer of in my father’s house should be an exception because it negates the dictates of Christ. I KNOW THE PLAN I HAVE FOR YOU Jeremiah 29:11, Jeremiah 1:5 God has plan for everybody, and the plan is of good and not of evil. If God is having a better plan for me, why can’t I claim the promises of God rather than praying for greatness at the detriment of my kindred?. If God is having a better plan and future for me, then, where God is taking me to in life is never be a function (can never be as a result) of where God is taking any of my kindred to. I observed that in churches where this prayer is being offered, very few are those that do have this define encounter and none at times. This creates in me an impression that “what then is the lot or hope of the remaining hundreds or thousands that are left in the congregation, is there no helper allotted to them to uplift them from wretchedness into a full blown riches and greatness in life (next level). As I reason and study along the line, my attention was drawn to the story of the prodigal son and Zacchaeus in the scripture, and the Holy Spirit begins to relates with me that help(er) has gone to many people, but they were blinded to see it. This is because their attention and focus is mainly to see a prominent human vigor that had been allotted to help them in the place of destiny. This write-up is not debunking the fact that God sends divine human helper, of course Mephiboshet is a case study in the scripture. Rather, it is meant to open the eyes of people to another great dimension in which divine help(er) comes to people. The Idea of a long awaited Human helper has blindfolded the mind of many people to be sensitive, see or hear of the “Divine Idea” that has been released into their mind in the place of prayer. A “Divine Idea” is the wisdom of God (released) in man that has been liberating people from the shackles of poverty and wretchedness, or from lowly positions to the next level of greatness they anticipate. It has saved many people from endless movement from one mountains, prayer meetings etc., to another. His main purpose at that time as the scripture reviews was only to see the person Jesus (probably how he looks like). However, the crowd (Hindrances, obstacles before him) did not allow him to see Jesus. And no one (Helper) was there to help him, maybe to lift him up. However, something happened (Luke 19:4), an idea (I called divine; simply because his aim was only to see Jesus) came to his mind, he saw a sycamore tree ahead and the bible says he ran before or ahead of the crowd and climbed up a sycamore to see Jesus. He eventually saw Jesus. This brilliant idea I called Divine because; he not only see Jesus: · Jesus talk to him, · Jesus dined with him, · Salvation enters into house. Zacchaeus may have been struggling and looking for a tall and hefty man (Helper) to lift him up in which as a result may never be opportune to see Jesus who may have ed him by. Likewise is the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15: 11-20) who went to his father to collect all his inheritance, after which he went down to a far country, and wasted it on extravagant living. A famine came up and he be began to be in want to the extent that he has nothing again. The situation was so worst for him that he began to eat and fill himself with the tusk that the swine did ear. He seek help from his friends and they all deserted him (Luke 15:16). If he should continue in the state of looking for a helper, he may end up his life in wretchedness. But something happen, according to (Luke 15:17a); “And he came to himself”… and in verse 18, he says “I will rise and go to my father”… If there is one thing that can make someone to “come to himself” (or regain consciousness or to have a change of mind-set), I believe that’s a Divine Idea. He would also have continue in his helpless state until the idea of going back to his father came to his mind. Let me remind you also that when he got home: · He wasn’t taken as a servant · He gained back his lost possessions · He was saved and celebrated In conclusion, once again, I reiterate that this article is not to debunk the fact that God do send human helper, rather, it was meant to serve as an eye opener to another dimension of help that God do send to his people in which they are not sensitive to see. Therefore, when you are left with no choice other than to ask and pray for a prominent, philanthropist human helper, 1. Always be sensitive to the things the Holy Spirit is saying to you.. 2. Do not fixate on human helper that may never come, rather let your focus be on God and God alone. The Psalmist says “Where does my help comes from?” and he answer by saying “my help comes from the Lord…” Psalm 121:1-2. The truth still lies that tithing has come to stay for a time being, and for the period of time that enlightenment will till in overshadowing the church, i guess we need to correct the mindset of tithers for the time being. MY CONSENSUS ABOUT THE ISSUE OF TITHE AND OFFERING[center][/center] [img][/img][img][/img] The church has for some times now been under series of attacks and serious disagreement as touching the issue of Tithe. Tithing has become one of the most controversial issues being discussed and debated in the Christian World today. Regardless of any theologians interpretations or doctrinal views that says tithing is no longer applicable to today’s New testament Christians, the fact still lies that tithing has come to stay whether we like it or not. The aim of this write-up is not to argue, defend or oppose whether tithe is necessary or not, but it is meant to correct the mindset or some mentalities that some tithers has towards payment of tithe. I am a tither and I give offering as and when due, and I’m not saying you should change your mind towards paying or not. Rather, when next you will take your tithe or offering to the house of God always bear these things in your mind: 1. You cannot buy God’s blessings with your money.[/b] Some people are programmed with the mentality that if they don’t pay their tithe or offering they can never be blessed. (Acts 8:17-20): Here, Simon the Magician offered to buy the gift of the Holy Spirit, But Peter responded by saying, “Thy money perish with thee”. You know some people will be like “It’s now time for tithe and offering, let us raise it up and say whatever we want into the offering.” Where did that comes from?, or perhaps I should say when did God became a beggar?. Some Pastors will tell you the more your offering and tithe, the more your blessings will be. Listen and listen good, that’s a lie, God blessing you is not a function of how great or plenteous your money is. The best we can do is to develop the heart of giving without expectation. See this: 2. [b]The Widows Mite: (Luke 21:1-4) She dropped the least offering yet, she went home with bigger blessing. Why? This is because God is not looking at the money she has to offer, but her heart of giving.
NOTE: I am not saying you should be paying the widows mite, Nooo sir/ma, what I am saying is that if you develop the heart of giving, you can even be compelled to give more than expected, as in, you can give more than the proportion of God’s blessing on your life. (Deuteronomy 16:17). God loves a cheerful giver: A cheerful giver is someone who gives without expectation. 3. Be Sincere with Yourself: it is best you keep your money than paying an incomplete tithe (less than 10%). This alone can bring about a curse. Be faithful and be consistent. Ananias and Sapphira Acts 5:1-10. They both die because they lie about what they have given. 4. Lastly, remove the mindset that pastors are the ones eating your tithe and offering: The money you give is no longer yours but God’s. Since it is to God you declared that you’re giving it, then be less concerned about how the money is being spent. I want you to know that if them pastors mismanaged or spent the tithe not according to God’s will, they are eating their doom. That’s just the truth. And also bear this in mind; If indeed you want to pay our tithe, take it to God’s house, it belongs to God and not to a beggar, Malachi 3:10a “Bring yee all the tithe into the store house…”, if you really want to help a beggar or helpless, you can do that by even spending more than you tithe. That’s just the truth. Your tithe is not an arm. Conclusively: You will notice that I have not stated that God’s going to bless you for paying your tithe and offering; of course God’s going to do that (Hebrews 6:10). Tithe is an appreciation of God’s blessings; Abraham gives his tenth to Mechizedeck from the spoils he had won in battle. Of course if there is no increase or blessing you will not tithe. However; - Give your tithe and offering to show appreciation and gratitude to God for His Blessings. - Develop a heart of giving without expectation - Let this be in you that you are giving for the kingdom’s expansion - Give with cheerfulness - Hold no grudges with anyone - Tithe because God has blessed you and not to amass blessing - Be sincere and steadfast - Aim not at doing business with God.
