Please I have an issue. I paid my visa fee by making a transfer from my Zenith bank to the first bank generated using the reference number. However, i was told the transfer was meant to be from a first bank . Please is there anything I can do?

This is not true, if you went through the correct steps, i made my payment tru online bank transfer-access bank..and within 4hrs, i was able to proceed with scheduling an appointment

How do I confirm this is 314ah lifepo4? These are batteries from Valto.

Your bms wasnt set up properly...the battery capacity is on default 40ah, where as it shud be 314ah .

Another way is to do a capacity test.charge full
.then drain and see how many ah you get from it.

3rd option is to open the case and eyeball each cell.
However this may void ur warranty and isnt 100% accurate. The capacity test is the preferred option

Tbf EVs are hardly using the quality of cells we have in this market. I'm sure there's a massive, massive gap in quality. For example, The Xiaomi SU7 ultra has just a 93.7KWH battery but can output 1548 HP. Over 1MW. That's about 11C discharge. You think a Felicity battery can handle that?

Secondly, those same EVs start degrading noticeably within like five years, which may just be ~1200 cycles. The high charge and discharge rates are undoubtedly a factor.

Androblaze

Can your average lifepo4 cell handle 0.5c charging without issues? Why not. Would 0.2c objectively and scientifically be less stressful on the cells? Also yes. By how much is what we don't know. I think charging at 0.2-0.3c is a perfectly fine way to use lifepo4 here, especially considering the quality of cells we get.

Most EVs use lithium ion cells, not lifepo4.
Lithium ion is more energy dense and some can handle 20C and higher...while most lifepo4 is max 1c or 2c at most...as going higher than this couldead to premature battery failure...

Specially designed lifepo4 may be able to handle higher C ratings...but the prismatic cells normally used for home energy storage cant

Please I am not a technical person. I just need advice. Last month a Yohako 2.5kva 24volt non hybrid inverter,, with 4 units of 350 watts Canadian solar was installed for me. This was my first time and I knew nothing about it. I observed that using grid power alone on the inverter works fine but when there is sun, and there is no load on the inverter, it start blinking fault light and sound and this happens when the charge controller shows 31+. The moment I switch on electeical devices, the fault disappears after sometime and the charge controller number goes down too. If you don't keep the inverter loaded, it will start blinking fault light again. But if it's just grid light without sun, it works perfectly fine. I hardly use grid light because of prepaid meter except when there is no sun and the battery is low. The installer would only ask me to put off the inverter and on again without any explanation or solution.

Within one month, the battery water reduced drastically and we had to refill. I was told that's too early.

Kindly advise me please.

Attached is the pic of the UI of the inverter

Your installer did a poor job and set the wrong voltage on the inverter/charge controller...for flooded batts you shud set it no more than 29.4v for bulk and 27.4v float.
I doubt your installer understands all this, so best u take ur destiny into ur hands and change rhe settings...or find someone technical who can help u

Hello house,

Please I have a follow up question, for those that have recently successfully completed the interview waiver Dropbox process.

Do I have to schedule another document drop-off appointment via the OIS website? I recall that on the AVITS website, I picked the free drop off option (in Lagos ) for my mum.
Now, I see another separate appointment automatically scheduled for the day BEFORE the actual date that I picked. Will this be the date to go drop off documents at the OIS office in Lagos or do I have to schedule this separately?

Looking forward to your insight!, Thanks all.

If you have scheduled a dropoff date on avits...then go to ois and schedule another dropoff date...on same date.
The avits date is superior and usually what they check inside the ois office..but the security at the gate check for ois ..to avoid any wahala..simply book ois date to match ur avits...time isnt important, just date

Hello house

Wondering if anyone has experience rescheduling dates for parents. Right now both mom and dad have the same interview date and time but I found an earlier slot but its only letting me pick one of them at a time and I want to avoid a situation where they end up with separate dates.

Has anyone navigated this issue please

It can be done, but its a gamble, doing it one after the other...
What i wud do if i were u..get another person to as well...so u effect both changes simultaneously on different devices.

So from your submission, we can work on the premise that with a budget of about 5 million, using the right professionals, an average family can go completely off grid?

If this is the case, then it makes economic sense. A budget of 5million should be calculated into the total cost of building the house just like we do with borehole, soakaway etc for peace of mind.

YUP, AN AVERAGE FAMILY THAT INTENDS TO RUN 1 OR 2 ACS, BUT AN AVERAGE FAMILY WITH NO PLANS OF RUNNING ACS., just lights, fans fridge, freezer.CAN get an offgrid system for far less

I think you guys are missing the point of the discussion or you are avoiding the facts.

The discussion is not IF SOLAR SYSTEM WORKS.

It is a widely known fact that solar system works.

The discussion is AT WHAT BUDGET CAN A FAMILY HOME GO COMPLETELY OFF GRID RELYING COMPLETELY ON SOLAR SYSTEM.

Complete off grid means the system can power ALL A/Cs at home simultaneously, pump water, do clothes ironing etc at all times of the day. In short; do all family home activities like it would be on national grid.

If that budget is close to 40 million as was previously mentioned, then solar is just a compromise for the average family home. It is not the energy solution yet for families up and down the country. Homeowners must be aware of this before pumping money into a bottomless pit.

the 40m quote wasn't for a home...it was for an office complex or so......
2ndly no 2 homes are alike, ac is the major consumer of electricity in the average home, a design without ac and a design with 1 or 2 acs vs a design with up to 5 acs cant be the same. therein lies the physics...doing a proper load calculation vis a vis balancing the solar s with the battery...if for example a home consumes 20kwh daily,...a good design should hv a battery at least 1.5x this....then solar s bringing in x2 of this ...if you want a functional, no stories design...a smart installer and client can still tweak with certain aspects of the design to achieve this with smaller budget....but what happens is..a quack installer will just say buy 4 batteries, and 8 s, it will work, without doing any load calculation.

an acquaintance approached me for a solar job, had fridge.freezer, sumo, 1.5hp ac....totally offgrid, I gave 2 designs, with the least about 4m+ which included a 12kwh lithium battery...the person ran away and went with another installer that gave a quote of 2m+..which included just 4 units of 200ah flooded battery. this quack installer design will fail within 6months...and the owner will now start shouting that solar doesn't work.blah blah blah....when they engaged quacks .in a bid to save money

look at another problem right here, same lithium batteries that is said to be be the only thing that will make your solar power every appliance is what this balloon clown below on TikTok claims he can build up. This is how they go around wasting costumers money for their own gains and delivers nothing.

Pov: spot the comment asking of what can power her borehole, nah cry dey load for her.

FUNNY ENOUGH, THE TIKTOK VIDEO GUY IS CORRECT. i also build/assemble lithium battery packs in my spare time, and its not rocket science, and yes lithium battery can power large loads such as sumo, ac, electric stove, microwave etc...without any damage to the battery, unlike flooded or leadacid batteries

@POSTER, it appears you are largely ignorant about solar-inverter and renewable energy matters...i suggest you make out time to keep urself informed and abreast of developments in that sector, or stick to giving opinions on topics/areas you are knowledgable in

To be candid, it's more beneficial during the day with good sunlight and sufficient solar s. The major challenge as regards my experience is the use in the evening. The battery would have to be much. I would have changed batteries in the first couple year and double the battery size to use it reasonably at night as the capacity was dropping if we didn't switch to using 10 watts standing fan that works like regular fan and we use led bulb but the freezer would have to be off by 3 pm.
I think it's more suited for day time use with appropriate inverter and solar capacity covering all the expected appliances.

Go lithium battery, and forget all these stories of changing battery every 2, 3 or 4 yrs..a decent lithium battery will easily do 12 to 15yrs....no hiccups

It sure pays for itself. I was connected back to phcn a few years ago to use alternatively during raining season and the first few months phcn guys came to investigate us that we weren't recharging on their system. I think I'm just recharging the second time since then and it wasn't even necessary as my wife said we still had sufficient units. I load 20k.
They were bringing estimated bill of 90k monthly before then. The only future expenses is battery as the other parts of the system doesn't need replacement, at least not for over a decade ideally.

A decent lithium battery can easily do 12yrs...however most installer recommend tubular battery, even the few that somewhat recommend lithium battery , a gew of them sometimes run into problems as they dont understand the physics...and fail to programme the inverter to work adequately with lithium battery...

Lithium battery is the game changer in solar installations

I honestly try to avoid this solar discussion but something in me won't allow it..The truth is, you guys should not downplay people's experience.. Alot of people had a very very bad experience with solar, after spending millions.
My company had over 150 branch in Nig and we had solar in atleast a 100 outlet, my brother, what I notice is that everything usually work well for the first 3 to 6 month and after that na one story upon one story..We have changed vendor atleast thrice...What do we need to power? Just one AC, one Desktop, then some few POP bulb and maybe a fan, and two or 3 phones for staff that will want to charge their phone.
I was reviewing some invoices recently and I notice we have spent over 250 million within 2023 till date on this venture.
As at today, 80% of those solar in their respective branches are either not working at all or will give you less that 2 hour even if it's 100% charged...what we do now is to prevent our CEO from getting those info because how do we explain to her that all the solar that we spent hugely on is not working!
It is ONLY here that I hear that solar is very GOOD, the experience OUTSIDE is opposite.
It's okay if we need to sell our market tho.
I have ed a popular solar installer here, am planning to do an audit of all the job they did for us...Approval is what is delaying us from proceeding, everyone is scared to tell madam that her 250M don enter voicemail, quite painful because we sold the idea to her, now going back to tell her stories again

solar works, however being unregulated, too many quacks jumped into it in nigeria, who have no idea of the physics behind solar/inverter, thus ruining the experience for many people....

here is a thread where we discuss solar DIY ish. ----- https://nairaland.unblockandhide.com/390522/solar-energy-complement-fta/1897
also a link of a member who has powered an 80 room hotel with solar, and even a church headquarters...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7g1lyp8y28A

i would advice you to engage a reputable hand or post the system design of your proposed installer on the solarforum page so we can anlyse&critique it.
a good solar setup is expensive, but pays for itself after 2 to 3 yrs, depending on the size, and what is the norm in nigeria is for the client to collect quotes from 2 to 5 vendors...and then settle for the cheapest quote without understanding the nuances behind the quote

Good morning Everyone...please I want to ask one questions here. My aunty is travelling for a conference around Feb I guess and agent is helping her to filled her form. Now according to her the agent have collected appointment date for her for February this year and she started filling her form last Dec and jan.

As I heard no early appointment date for February except emergency date for medical.
My questions is:

1. Is the date for appointment real?
2. Is there anything like buying appointment for US visa?

because my aunty is so desperate not to listen to me when I told her nothing like that. Please I need good answer bikonu. Thanks

it could be possible, if she started filling the form in dec. what smart people do is to use the ds160 form number to try n book appointment, even though they hvnt finished filling the form as the form number doesn't change. if you doubt, simply ask the agent to send you a screenshot of the appointment naah,

Lighter heat reaches temperatures of over 2,000°C.
A simple Google search could have helped you.

Hahahahahah...2000 deg C indeed...and the clipper doesnt melt. Do you know i can also put that lighter fire on my finger for few seconds..same as they do on the clipper..and nothing will happen to my finger...
The inflammable liquid they douse on the clipper has a better chance of killing microbes than that fire of 3 to 10secs

Its not everything we be shouting google upandan.u gotta use google with sense....

That u googled that lighter fire may reach temps of 2000 degrees..(wch is not even practical) doesnt translate to the clipper being exposed to that temperature..they could hv used matches or even candle fire to light up the clipper...
The main point is that .The fire/flame lasting barely 6secs cant do shit to kill any serious bacteria...that we are even having this convo makes me scared of what is being taught in schools and level of scientific knowledge the avg nigerian has..

Yeah...solar generation has improved recently. Mine is mixed s of 2x jinko 625w, 8x 270w(Chinese sunpower) and 1x 280w Neptune all connected in series . Making total 3.69kw pv. Seeing over 90% instantaneous generation is refreshing

Yeah, the science checks out ok.
All s in series gives you a loss of 12%,
3257watts max possible harvest
31.2volts...avg vmp
Imp...105a

all in parallel is 11.8% loss

Arranging all similar s in series then paralleling them would hvv given you over 70% loss....i think this was where the myth of derating to the smallest comes from

Hello House; kindly assist.
I have an inverter setup with 2 Amaron quanta 200AH battery and 1.5kva luminous inverter that I have been using for about 18month now. I use nepa light to charge it.
It use to have backup light of about 6 - 10hours when I started using it. My major load is my 65inches TV and 3fans with bulbs.
Now, the setup get fully charge in less than 2hours and get drained in less than 2hours.
What could be the problem.

Amaron quanta is a unique battery, but many dont care to understand it, and hence they damage it.
It requires bulk of 13.7volts and float of 13.5volt....this is clearly written on the body....unlike normal sealed batts that require 14.5volts bulk.

The dumb luminous inverter you are using doesnt hv editable charge voltage settings and outputs about 14.3volts......
Hope u see where am going

Even if the cycle count was triple that..say 500cycles in 3yrs....thats still 12yrs minimum before degrading to 80%...even if you assume the minimum of say 2k cycles

Imagine cycling sth for 8yrs only to degrade to just 80%. This is what tubular s dont know. In directly LifePO4 is almost for Life.

Yeah, thats why i find it funny people putting so much emphasis on lifepo4 cycle life ..3k, 6k or 10k cycles...e no too get head.

My first lifepo4 pack will hit 3yrs in oct..and has about 178 cycles....so in 30yrs..will still be less than 2k cycles...so why shud i bother my head about whether its 3k or 6k or 20k cycles??

Any normal lifepo4 pack will easily do 15yrs.....and am sure within 10yrs...newer technology would hv even come out...that many may consider reselling their lifepo4 pack to upgrade
