Submitted in October. Got a 221g refusal 10days after, several calls and emails no response. They sent an email exactly 3months later for me to reschedule

No message sent regarding my port pickup and not been able to reschedule appointment to attend the 221g interview through ‘reschedule’ on AVITS.

Please have you been able to pick up your port while waiting to attend your 221g interview ?

Also, please how were you able to get an appointment through the ‘reschedule’ using the same visa fee you initially paid?

Anyone who has scaled through this phase, please help 🙏🙏

@niksie port says ready for pick up this morning, I couldn’t reschedule before then created a ticket on Avits, they replied that the reschedule’ll pop up soon , waited a few hours logged in again then rescheduled for Abuja because that was what was available, the next morning I checked and saw lagos so I changed it

I wanted to share my timeline and ask for insights from others who’ve experienced this process recently.
• Document drop-off date: Dec 20th
• Case created date: Dec 23rd
• Case last updated date: Dec 27th
Status still reads Application Received
I’m scheduled to return to the U.S. on January 17th,but I’m still waiting for my port from the embassy.

Has anyone been in a similar situation recently? How long did it take after the last case update to receive your port? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

For me, where i will be picking up the port is another thing. OIS or DHL? Cos it was DHL i selected when i started the process with the old portal. No instructions on this from them yet.

I have also created tickets through ‘’ on AVITS. The response was that i have to wait until my appointment is tagged as 221g before i can reschedule.

It tells me Bank details updated successfully and yet no progress.
It's been nearly 3 months of frustration.

Do I create a new profile and the payment details, will that work?
Can I get a refund and restart again?
This is over N700,000.

I made the MRV payment at a First Bank brank since December 20, but I have not been able to proceed to schedule an appointment on the AVITS platform. Whenever I enter my amentum number on the bank deposit details page, it tells me "Bank details updated successfully" and takes me back to the page to enter the same details again. I really need to pick a date first, then, hope for a closer date. I have raised tickets to this effect and I was told the issue has been escalated to the Desk, yet, no resolution.

Also, I have been following the conversation here but I don't seem to understand something. I chose Lagos when I created my DS-160 form and was making payment. I want to change my location for the visa interview with the hope of being able to get a date that is closer. Is that possible, please? If yes, how do I go about it, please?

You might want to visit another country for holidays. POE might not have an issue but US embassy most likely would have a big issue with the frequent visit. Is it really worth the risk?

Hello Everyone,

I need advice or insight from anyone who has experienced a similar situation. My fiancé attended a B1( Conference)visa interview today at the Abuja embassy, but the consulate was unable to retrieve his DS-160 application from their system. Despite their efforts, they couldn't access it. They advised him to quickly fill out a new DS-160 form, which he did. However, upon his return, they were still unable to retrieve the new application.

The consulate supervisor informed him that the issue has been escalated to the U.S., and they will send him an email once it is resolved, at which point he can return for his interview.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Thank you.

You will need to send an email to [email protected] following the format someone stated on this thread. Search for v44....some folks that had this issue got it resolved this way.

it could be possible, if she started filling the form in dec. what smart people do is to use the ds160 form number to try n book appointment, even though they hvnt finished filling the form as the form number doesn't change. if you doubt, simply ask the agent to send you a screenshot of the appointment naah,

July 15 th 2025 is the earliest date as at when I booked for my husband on the 13th of January 2025

A client was refused the 2nd time in a year because his last visit in The US, he spent 3 months.


At his most recent interview the same reason was quoted as the one who spent so, so number of days, then he was refused.


If you are going to spend more than a month, let your reason be very cogent.

18th Dec, case updated,but still reads Application received

2nd January, issued.


The timeline can be different for each applicant.

I know there are like 3-4 stages in their process

Also ,consider the holidays,and their staff strength and also

The information on your DS 160,compared to the last ,also counts,background checks if needed etc

If it show Application received,they are working on it,as long as it's been updated,at least once

In all,wait time can be different for each applicant

Be patient,it will change soon
