On the MDX vs Highlander issue....apart from expensive parts...what about the transmission problems that MDX are said to have (though i hear such problems ended from the 2011 upwards models). A big worry would also be fuel. The MDX uses petrol so for you to use naija fuel you have to be using octane boosters. But then again after a while your engine will wear out. On that issue alone, the highlander should take the win.

It is better you reapply and then when given a date for the interview it should give you the chance to present the corrected bill to the VO.

Now the question about how long to get any interview date will be decided by the US embassy.

Since you claim that you are not in a hurry to travel anytime soon then reapply and then wait for an interview date.

At a recent US Visa interview, my application was denied because an itemized bill from a hospital erroneously showed that a discount was given. No such thing happened. It was an error of which a separate bill was later given. Unfortunately this older bill was presented mistakenly and the VO picked on that and denied the Visa. Despite explanations. But I don't blame the VO who was acting based on info available then.
On getting home. I now saw the corrected bill and I have now written to the US hospital and they have replied with attachments of the correct bill and explanations as to what happened to cause the initial error on the first bill.
My question is this...do I write to the embassy with the letters from the hospital attached or do I just reapply and if I want to reapply how long do I wait for.
Note..I am willing to wait. Not as if I am desperate or anything.
So gurus..your kind advice is welcome.

American citizens pay totally different amounts, some with a good job and good insurance pay 0 (zero) and hospitals prefer them, because the good reliable insurance pays them directly, usually also these citizens have a preference and are very well treated with lots of additional special services. There are also Senior citizens on Medicare or disable people on Medicaid, it's also free to them or almost free, some supplementary insurance maybe needed. Military people and their family (Tricare), one of the best insurances and almost free too. The system is rather complicated and we all need to know how our plans work and to pay less or nothing. Usually American hospitals prefer to work with good insurance or an extended payments plan on credit card or others. It's all tied to the person social security number and no risk. Cash is accepted mostly from a low income people with no credit, discounts are given to people who has no social security number (in case of Nigerians, medical facilities don't ask the immigration status and bill according to ghetto scale, first they write the total, maybe 20K, then the 50-60% discount. And it's not cheap anyway, poor people in America, if they pay cash, they pay more than working people with insurance and hospitals don't like cash paying mostly because they can't keep you at the hospital for long and charge forever or to hook you up with unnecessary services, medicine and machines.

Ah, and almost all Americans, we NEVER use cash, all is cards and switching money online between different s. People who pays cash is looked like maybe criminals, drug dealers, illegal immigrants or a very low level citizens who were in jail or had bankruptcy and have no credit at all. Having NO credit in America means troubles to rent a place to live, to buy a car or a house and many other things. Good Credit score it's a good reputation and many benefits and preferences.

The patients should also do proper research. Right from ages ago, I knew if you want to birth in the US just budget 10-15k for total hospital bill. People were so excited to pick the discount. Did they ever ask why the discount? What manner of discount will cut off thousands of dollars from your bill? Maka why? The smart ones didn't take it. They paid fully. It's really an unfortunate situation.

Reason the hospitals give the discount that they do is because the international patients are paying cash and in full at once. Their regular US customers pay via insurance. And just like any other insurance, the insurance company would contest the bill given and also would not pay immediately. They eventually pay months and months later. These are the things that hospitals (infact any company that is dealing with insurance companies) take into consideration hence the initial high bill. The insurance companies too don't pay the d bill too as they negotiate it down (much the same way car insurance people do with mechanics). How come the US govt don't complain that that insurance didn't pay the full amount.
The VOs should understand all this. Its simply "time value of money" that the hospitals are looking at. If you are paying cash and immediately you get a big discount. If you pay cash but not immediately you get a discount but not as much as the 1st. If you're paying via insurance then no discount.
So the US govt should take it up with the hospitals not the patients. American citizens too get big discounts if they pay immediately and in cash.

Quick question: I've noticed from some transcripts I read that VOs don't generally ask for bank statements and letters of invitation again. How true is that? It's been a long time since i did Visa interview (I've been using dropbox for a long time now). My family and I intend to visit for a week on holiday and then on to another country as well so I'm wondering what kind of documents would be required. My spouse and I both have good jobs at multinationals so we don't intend to jappa there. Lol.

I scheduled an appointment for my dad and my kid brother for September 23. I'm made a mistake on the ds160 form regarding place of birth. I was told on this forum that I could correct it, which I did. I now have to link the new application number to the scheduled appointment. I was able to change that of my dad, but I wasn't able to change my kid brother's own because I used my dad as the principal applicant. I need to CGI to help me rectify it.

If you need to make corrections to your kid brothers ds160 form , you need to go to the initial portal for filling a ds160 then retrieve the old one and do a new one. Once done you would have a ds160 for him as well then go to your CGI platform that has your dad's profile, open the profile and go through you would get to the place that contains your kid brothers details. Click on the edit button (like a pen) and the add the new ds160 number and save.
This should sort it out

From what I've gathered so far the recruitment is still ongoing. They are going department by department. So some departments might have concluded theirs while others are yet to even start.

From what someone said it seems that Dragnet do send regret emails. So if you haven't gotten any such email then hope is alive.

If na any of those oil majors you applied too nko. Those ones call people like a year after the test. Lol.

Well someone said that they haven't started calling people for managerial roles and another said that if your simulation test was in July or August and you haven't been called then it's over for you. I don't know which one to believe.

He didn't say 'concluded'. He said "almost concluded". It means the ones that are yet to be conducted are a part of what is left before it will be concluded. Its just simple English.

The doubt that 50% of the openings are yet to be filled, should be cleared immediately; interviews and tests are going on on daily basis and in different MTNN locations everyday of the working week.

This is not to make us give up in our expectations but to come to with the facts.

Yeah I guess they would have done about 70% by now. Doesn't mean that one of us can't be amongst the remaining 30%.
My issue is that I'd like MTN to either instruct Dragnet to start letting people tgat didn't make it know or do it themselves.
I think they are hedging their bets so in case those that they called for interview didn't impress them they would go down to the next ranked person. However it not nice to keep people in suspense.
That's my 2 kobo on the issue.
