The President of the World Bank Group, Jim Yong Kim, said on Thursday that the bank had concentrated on the northern region of Nigeria in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s request.

Kim and the Managing Director, International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, who spoke at separate press conferences in Washington DC, United States, also advised Buhari to invest in things that would enhance economic growth.
Kim said, “You know, in my very first meeting with President Buhari he said specifically that he would like us to shift our focus to the northern region of Nigeria and we’ve done that. Now, it has been very difficult. The work there has been very difficult.

“I think Nigeria, of course, has suffered from the dropping oil prices. I think things are just now getting better. But the conversation we need to have with Nigeria, I think, is in many ways related to the theme that I brought to the table just this past week, which is investment in human capital. The percentage of the Gross Domestic Product that Nigeria spends on healthcare is less than one percent.”

He added, “Despite that, there is so much turbulence in the northern part of the country, and there is the hit that was taken from the drop in the oil prices. Nigeria has to think ahead and invest in its people. Investing in the things that will allow Nigeria to be a thriving, rapidly growing economy in the future is what the country has to focus on right now.”

Kim also said, “Focusing on the northern part of Nigeria, we hope that as commodity prices stabilise and oil prices come back up, the economy will grow a bit more. But very, very much important is the need to focus on what the drivers of growth in the future will be.”

According to the World Bank boss, the bank will invest in human capital in other parts of Africa in order to prepare the continent for the next phase of growth.

How could they have spent $30m ~N11b in just 3mths.

Why else do U think Lai alluded that disclosing the amount could cause instability in the polity? U think say na N10? Meanwhile last time he came back, Fayose categorically alleged N 7Billion had been spent, so isn't it in line with this new figure? Abi Fayose dey collude with Sahara reporters now?

A Forbes Africa story has said that Nnewi in Anambra state houses the most number of Naira-billionaires in the country.

According to Forbes, Nnewi also produced the first billionaire in the country, Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, who founded the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1960.

His son, Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, who led Biafra to the Nigerian Civil War, was also a billionaire from the city.

Nnewi, nicknamed the Japan of Africa, is home to several automobile spare-parts dealers, and houses the assembly plant of Nigerian car maker Innoson Motors.

The 9 most prominent Naira-billionaires from Nnewi are listed as:

Cletus Ibeto, who started out as an apprentice to an automobile spare-parts dealer. He ended the importation of lead acid car batteries in Nigeria in the late 80s, and founded Ibeto Group, a conglomerate dealing in hospitality, motor products, real estate, petrochemicals, agriculture and cement.

Cosmas Maduka dropped out of school to sell akara (bean cake). He is the founder of Coscharis Group, one of the country’s foremost car dealerships.

Innocent Chukwuma is another school dropout. He went on to found Innoson Motors, makers of SUVs, commercial vehicles and enger cars.

Gabriel Chukwuma is the elder brother of Innocent Chukwuma. He has investments in sports, real estate, and the hospitality sector.

Alexander Chika Okafor is the founder and chairman of Chicason Industries, a conglomerate that deals in mining, manufacturing, and real estate in Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Augustine Ilodibe pioneered the interstate luxury bus transport service. After helping organize vehicles for the Biafran side during the civil war, he established Ekene Dili Chukwu Transport, then diversified into brewery and agriculture.

Ifeanyi Ubah‘s wealth comes from investments in oil and gas, as well as exportation of motor spare parts. He also owns the Nigerian Premier League football clube Ifeanyi Ubah FC.

Louis Onwugbenu is the head of Louis Carter Industries. He sold spare-parts under the Carter Bridge in Lagos, before diversifying into manufacturing car batteries and pipe fittings, agriculture, food processing, real estate.

Obiajulu Uzodike is a Harvard Business School alumnus whose cable company Cutix Nigeria was the first indigenous company in the South-East to be listed in the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

SAME EVENT, DIFFERENT REPORTS, WHO DO U BELIEVE?

https://www.naij.com/1118788-jewish-scientists-arrive-anambra-allegedly-present-dna-proof-igbos-israelite.html

IGBOS ARE JEWS

Barely 5 months after NAIJ.com reported that some Jewish scientists visited Nnewi, Anambra state to trace the ancestral lineage of the Igbos, they have returned with the result.

NAIJ.com earlier reported that the former president-general of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Dr Dozie Ikedife, invited Jewish scientists to carry out some Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) tests at his hospital, to ascertain the possibility of an ancestral relationship between the Igbo people and Jews in Israel.

About 5 months later, the scientists led by the international president of the Jewish voice ministries identified as Rabbi Jonathan Bernis, returned to Nnewi where they presented the DNA results of their verification.

The scientists whose current visit to Nnewi is said to be their 4th, presented the result which reportedly proves that the Igbos from south-eastern Nigeria are truly descendants of the clan of Gad in Israel.

The Jewish scientists returned to Nnewi with DNA proof that Igbos are truly of Israeli descent.

They were reportedly received by the Nnewi North caretaker committee chairman Prince Chukwudi Orizu, at the Messianic Faith Assembly in Uruagu.

General Babangida made this known in his Eid-el-fitri message to Nigerians. He also condemned the spate of hate speeches from different groups in the country.

He said although the country has survived a lot of crisis in the past, restructuring can no longer be wished away.

“Restructuring has become a national appeal as we speak, whose time has come. I will strongly advocate for devolution of powers to the extent that more responsibilities be given to the states while the federal government is vested with the responsibility to oversee our foreign policy, defense, and economy.

“Even the idea of having federal roads in towns and cities has become outdated and urgently needs revisiting. That means we need to tinker with our constitution to accommodate new thoughts that will strengthen our nationality,” he stated.

Calls For State Police

General Babangida also advocated for the adoption of state policing, saying that the initial fears that state governors will misuse the officers and men of the state police have become moribund.

The former military ruler rounded up his message by appealing to Nigerians especially the youth to keep alive the dreams of the nation’s founders insisting that Nigeria has all it takes to lead the African continent by virtue of its population, diversities and sheer determination of its people.

Keep Misleading the gullible. Quoting IGR (Internally Generated Revenue),instead of adding the totals including oil revenue. Like if oil is added SW will be higher than SS? Meanwhile IGR is not contributed to the national coffers, it belongs to the state and taxes from resident easterners make it up. Oga, revenue from the southeast, including oil, constitutes 24% of everything that goes into the national coffers. South South contributes 70%. What's remaining? Google it too!

A coalition of Niger Delta militants is demanding the return of all oil blocs controlled by Northerners, to the people of the oil-producing region.

The demand is in retaliation to the order issued by Northern youth organizations to the Igbo in the North, to leave the region by October 1.

The Niger Delta Watchdogs, Niger Delta Volunteers, Niger Delta Peoples Fighters, Niger Delta Warriors, Bakassi Freedom Fighters, Niger Delta Movement for Justice, Niger Delta Fighters Network and Niger Delta Freedom Mandate, said in a t statement on Friday, that they also intend to declare an independent Niger Delta on October 1, with a view to freeing their people from what they called northern enslavement.

The communiqué was signed by ‘General’ John Duku (Niger Delta Watchdogs and Convener: Coalition of Niger Delta Agitators), ‘General’ Ekpo Ekpo (Niger Delta Volunteers), ‘General’ Osarolor Nedam (Niger Delta Warriors), and ‘Major-Gen.’ Henry Okon Etete (Niger Delta Peoples Fighters).

Others are ‘Major-Gen.’ Asukwo Henshaw (Bakassi Freedom Fighters), ‘Major-Gen.’ Ibinabo Horsfall (Niger Delta Movement for Justice), ‘Major-Gen.’ Duke Emmanson (Niger Delta Fighters Network), and ‘Major-Gen.’ Inibeghe Adams (Niger Delta Freedom Mandate).

They warned all the companies operating such oil blocs to quit within three months.

“A coalition of the Niger Delta militants met today in Port Harcourt to review the recent call by the Arewa Youths groups that the Ndigbo should vacate all the Northern states within three months.

“We see the declaration by Arewa Youths as a declaration which the northern elders, leaders, political elite, security heads from the North and governors were fully aware of.

“We demand 100 per cent control of our resources. We demand that the Federal Government should hand over all oil blocs owned by northerners to Niger Delta indigenes. All the companies operating in such oil blocs/wells should vacate within three months.

“The Federal Government should immediately relocate NNPC and all the offices that have to do with oil/gas sector back to Niger Delta states and immediately replace the Group Managing Director with an indigene of Niger Delta.

“All northern indigenes working in NNPC and any other board that has anything to do with oil/gas should be sacked with immediate effect.

“We demand an independent and sovereign Republic of Niger Delta. We are tired of living with the North under Nigeria. We are tired of the President’s sentiments against the Niger Delta people.

“The President can have time to receive the Chibok girls but could not have time to meet with the representatives of the Niger Delta agitators. Our money has been used to fund Boko Haram, a problem created by the Northerners in order to use it as conduit pipe to siphon the resources of Niger Delta.

“On October 1, 2017 we shall declare our independence come rain, come shine. We shall take our destiny in our hands and free ourselves from the slavery of the North as they are tired of one Nigeria,” the statement read.

2. Most of you here are spewing sewage, without knowing that the bill isn't to be funded by the Federation . it's nobody else's business because it is supposed to be funded from allocation due to the South Eastern States.

It will be interesting to see how this APC government will fund it's campaign next year. All in All, buhari and magu are not fighting corruption. They are just recouping the proceeds of corruption and pouring it back to the system to be looted. It's like using a bowl to collect water from a leaking tank then pouring it back to the same leaking tank .the least a reasonable government would have done is to Tie looted funds to specific health and education sector projects. If you read the budget of the state house/a so rock and see how much Mr president is budgeting to spend, then you will know he's not fighting corruption. I will see how they will fund their campaign next year without stealing from public purse.

They'll concentrate on manipulating INEC. No need to campaign. Dassol!
