sup bro nice to meet you here too, so bro is it possible for the 2.0l engine inside the 08 Accord sold brand new in African market to be fitted into the 8th gen civic??
Yes it's very possible, just a few modifications needed. I have seen someone who personally insisted the upgrade should be carried out on his Civic after his engine started having issues. Both engines are also the same but with just few differences, just like the k24A and k24B engines.

Pls, I’m planning to purchase the Honda Accord 2015 v6, how reliable is it to avoid regrets.

I’m only avoiding the 4plug cos of the CVT.

The car is everything about reliability, once you love you car enough to do proper maintenance and not cut corners. Read about the Honda Earth-dreams technology for more understanding of what power mixed with performance is about in that engine.

If you can get the Touring edition which also comes in V6, that's even a bonus for you.

Please go for it if you really want to, you have nothing to worry.

It's really annoying. We all claim to be "car guys" but we know nothing about cars. The double wishbone is one of the main things I love about the Accord and I'm not happy they removed it in recent models.
People talk about stability and good handling of Honda, but they don't know the suspension they hate so much is to be thanked for it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbU269DsMyM?si=Xn3LTQ3JLsuAhZMf
If you ask me to choose between the double wishbone and Maherson suspension, I'll take the double wishbone a million times before I ever consider the Maherson suspension at all.

People are ignorant of what they have never used or researched about, and the best you can do is to avoid educating them because it's always a waste of time.

I've been driving accord for more than 10yrs and I've never had a ball t pull. Do your regular maintenance. Change your ball ts once a year or longer if your are using new OEM.
The thing is that most of you do not appreciate the double wishbone suspension on Honda Accord. Just do a small research on the benefits of double wishbone suspension. It is better and even more expensive than Mherson struts used in Toyotas. Honda is not stupid, you know. All it needs is regular maintenance due to our bad roads and ball ts are not expensive. And if he hates spending money to maintain his car, then he shouldn't be buying Honda to begin with.
You even have time to respond to people whose brains still lives in 2002.

Once anybody talks about Honda pulling legs, I just intentionally ignore such a person because he/she lacks knowledge, and there's no amount of explanation that can help him/her out of his ignorance.

Reviewing My Experience With Igemburg.

So my P7P battery got pregnant(I did not notice earlier due to the case and it created a horizontal line across the screen) and I needed to replace it because the battery can go from 80 to 0 percent in under 10 seconds, I honestly lost interest in fixing the phone due to my experience with technicians but Igemburg changed my perception about that.

Until this week, I have never interacted with him here or personally but I always saw his responses to questions and his ads. I reached out, he was sympathetic of my situation gave huge discount for the replacement battery which is not a market quality and a follow-come battery. long story short, I sent him the phone, he offered to pick it up himself at his own expense, he replaced the battery with care which did not escalate the line on the screen and he tore the phone apart perfectly(JerryRigsEverthing destroy the display of the unit he got when he was trying to review the phone when it was released, Igemburg 200 - 0 JRE grin) that you won't see scratches or marks.

lastly, the battery backup is insane, i get over 6hrs usage yesterday. so my experience with him is 100/10.

nobody should talk about my gel protection screen guard, dollar dun cost.

When it comes to this Google Pixel deals, there are only three people here which I can recommend any day and time without fear.

1. Igemburg (Very great guy) I've dealt with him twice by sending him phones to fix, which he did neatly and the phones work better till date without issues. I've never met him.

2. Noobody (my AliExpress chairman) bought phone from him and also used his service on AliExpress severally and I've never met him as well.

3. Fantome (Agba Baller) I've bought 5 phones from him and even had to return one at some point which he paid for the delivery fee and replaced the phone for me with a better one. Baba dey deliver any day and time.

I've never met any of these guys but their reputation and honesty proceeds and goes beyond their faces.

They deserve every commendation and shout out.

Keep up the good works guys.

Good morning guys.

Please I need help with a good mechanic who can overhaul steering rack for Honda accord 2007 (DC)
Location is Lagos.
Reason for overhaul is due to oil leakage from the steering rack seals.

Pls any good recommendations will be appreciated as most mechanics I have met always ask me to replace the complete steering gear system.

The steering is okay and works perfect, just the oil leakage that is the problem
Go to Oyingbo, there are loads of guys who specialize in dismantling and fixing of steering rack. None will leave their shop and come to your location for such jobs.

Hello 👋 Guys, its urgent.

Can you help me choose the best toks car in of reliability between the 2019 Honda Accord Touring and 2015 Honda crosstour. This is my first car.

NB: I don't really care about fuel efficiency and my budget is from 18m to 30m last.

I await your replies bosses!!!!!

Both cars are good when you do due diligence with maintenance.

The 2019 has 2.0 and 1.5T models. The 1.5T model uses a CVT transmission and also a turbo charger which is quite expensive to replace when it goes bad. Just like you said, since you're not bothered about fuel then I'll suggest the 2.0 version of the 2019 Accord.

i have a Honda 06 DC. Bought Naija used.

I recently changed engine oil from 05-30 fully sytentic oil to mobil 05-30 semi sythentic becuase my technician said the oil shortage was as a result of the previous oil.

But changing oil did not solve the oil shortage wahala.Worse is that the car now emits white smoke in the morning instead of steam. And the oil shortage has worsened as a result of the smoking issues.

What can i do to stop the oil shortage and the smoking issues? I now buy 5 liters of oil every week if i drive the car alot( for every 80 liters to 120 litres of fuel used) or bi-weekly if i didn't drive much( less than 80 liters of fuel used).

And i am presently saving money to buy a new gear becuase the current gear has started singing end of the roaf by boyz to men. It jerks while selecting lower gears or delays before it picks from lower gears.

Once on motion, the gear works fine, until I slow down again. Then the gear wahala starts again.

i actually have an option of buying a Nissan 2015 altima at 3.5m. (auction price).

My question: Can i still fix the Honda engine? Or is it better to buy a new engine and gear?

Or

Do I just sell the Honda as it is and buy the Nissan Altima?

Please advise me as per the cost implications. Cos i still have to do body work on the Honda. But nothing to fix on Nissan except suspension and AC.

My fear is wasting funds on the Honda and still not geting value for the money spent. What do guys think?

So sorry about what you're going through. Buying oil almost every week is financially draining in this economy.

From one Honda to the other, if I were you I'll save and get myself a new engine and gear then have peace of mind afterwards. It won't come cheap but you'll definitely not want to sell the car after doing so because you'll enjoy every smoothness that the new engine and gear will give. Just budget 1m for everything, direct untouched toks engine is currently sold for 550k while gear is 350k, but you'll old engine will be bought for 150k while your old gear will be bought for 80k so that leaves you with 650k to pay for both engine and gear then you can spend some amount in buying original engine and gear oil, amongst other few things that might need attention on your car. I've done same just last month and I never regretted it. Just ensure you buy direct toks Japanese engine from a trusted seller, not those rubbish being sold at ladipo market. (If you need help with recommendation I can do that).

As for the Nissan Altima, if you finally decide to go for it, just ensure you do a thorough research about the year of that vehicle to ensure there is no known factory issue that comes with it. I'm not a fan of Nissan so I don't have much to say than my only experience with a G35 that I was given, but I had to return the vehicle because I couldn't keep up with the fuel guzzling engine, but the engine power is slightly better than Honda. Also, Nissan has a terrible CVT gear technology which has been a headache for its s no matter your maintenance culture, so you need to watch out and be sure the Altima you plan to get doesn't use a CVT gear.

I'll leave the floor to other men with experience to give their input.

Good evening house, I want to change my car's transmission fluid, I have never changed it since I got it last year, but when I I checked it recently, I noticed the oil has changed color and is a bit low when I insert the dipstick. Now here is my problem, the old owner says he uses Oando dexron II on it, it's a Honda accord 2006 DC, cars transmission has been fine, no problem at all, but from all the recommendations I have been seeing online and the type of fluid recommended by Honda is the atf dw1, now I don't know if to continue with the dexron ii oil or do a drain refill x3 on vehicle and switch to the atf DW1, please bosses what do you recommend?

No offense, bro, but this makes no sense. Almost every car has blowby and it is perfectly ok. The only confusion is how much blowby is normal and how much blowby signifies problem? I thought you have a good trick to detect too much blowby, but obviously you don't.
Just buy a compression tester and do engine compression test. Stop confusing yourself.
Well I understand your enlightenment.

Anyway if you read through my posts, you'll understand that I'm not a technician and this was just a trick that a local mechanic showed me long ago. I never said it was reliable and never advised anybody to base their findings on the outcome of this "simple trick".

All the same your corrections are well taken.

Wow, I read everything from page 1...

I love car talk.

Anyway let's get started... I have an 04 EOD...

2 months ago. I was driving then I had to reverse. After reversing, I say make I go forward, omo, car no move. Only Rev.. han han, wetin happen?? after getting lost for a few seconds, I put the gear for D2, car moved and I put in (D) and all works fine.

So since then, I've been using my car as follow. I start, I put in D2 or D1 to move a little and subsequently on Drive... If I start car and put in Drive directly, it will not move forward.

Reverse work well, no issue..

Current issue... Last week... I reversed out of my compound. Now both D2, D1 or drive will not move car forward. Basically, car can only reverse currently. Not moving forward... I don park am since...

No other issue... oh prior to all these drive issue, I changed brain box about 3 months ago and subsequently had the (D) blinks on the dashboard even while driving

Nb.i comb YouTube everyday for tips or something, most of the time I get gear switch sensor whatever whatever 🤷.
I just dey pray an hope no be big issue... 5 kobo no dey my hand like this.

So sorry about this dilemma. I experienced same issue too on my EOD two months ago, just that my D, D1-3 gear and reverse works fine but car keeps revving when the gear switches between 2-3 while on motion. I changed the two gear switches and it reduced the issue a bit but it still resurfaced. I was directed to someone in Oyingbo to help me fix it and I was billed 120k to repair the gear after buying gear solenoid switches for almost 60k. Spending 180k fixing a gear is no brainer for me.

I just vex go buy new gear to save myself stress and headaches. The new gear cost me 350k and the old one was bought for 80k, so I ended up paying just 270k for the gear.

If you can afford a new gear please just go for it and save yourself from gear wahala. But if you can't, you can find a reliable gear technician to help you fix yours but it doesn't come cheap sha. If you're in Lagos, just go to Oyingbo and get yourself sorted out there.

I hope this helps.

Hmmm... This can be caused by a lot of things. Get the vehicle scanned to be sure what's wrong. And if there is no code, then your throttle body, AC compressor, AC system or other major components can be the culprit. But ensure you scan first.

please who knows any dealer in ladipo to get the best prices for quality? they are still other parts to buy like steering rack and pump, lower arm and shocks.

If the vehicle has been scanned and they have told you what you need to do, I'll advise you do that soon. Throttle body is a very important component of a car and if it's faulty, it will lead to other related issues like knocking sound, high fuel consumption, wrong air/fuel mixture etc.

If you are in Lagos and you can spare time to visit Willoughby Street in Oyingbo, they have more reliable parts for Honda cars than ladipo. You can search for luvinhubby here on nairaland and him for anything you need, he's 100% reliable.

Please explain that oil cap trick. I want to learn. I've come across a lot of cars that have puffs of air from that oil cap if opened when engine is running. What does it mean?
Na my local mechanic teach me oo. He said once you open your oil cap and the oil doesn't splash, then the engine compression needs to be checked. The reason it doesn't splash is because air is actually filling up the engine which isn't suppose to be. I've also heard two other mechanic say this but I don't know how true. But he said it's just a quick check for engine compression.

Even the noise will tell you something is wrong because you will hear how air goes through easily compared to when the compression is good and there's no air, what you'll hear instead will be like engine oil boiling and trying to splash/gush out.

Any advice?
Please get your car scanned to ascertain the reason why that check engine light is on, because there are so many reasons why a check engine light comes on, and I'm sure you'll also get the culprit for your high fuel consumption when you get the car scanned.

The break light that's also illuminated can also be caused by many things and this can be detected by a scanner. Firstly check to ensure your handbrake is not pulled out of position.

I just changed my plugs to brand new no difference. Pls what else can I do? Not that it's worse but a 2.4l engine should get more power fah. It's 4plugs though
Hmmm... Does your engine burn oil and how is the timing too? Try checking the pressure of your engine. You can keep the engine running, then open your oil cap to see if the sound that comes out is mixed with air (that's a quick pressure test I was taught)

I use same EOD and my acceleration is top notch. I rival cars on the road and I've been known on 3rd mainland bridge for my constant speed between 4:30 - 5pm daily.

Kindly check your engine thoroughly... There must be an issue somewhere.

Hmmm... This isn't the case for me. Just like @agoodman mentioned, I also prefer the 7th generation due to the faster acceleration it has (for me). The fact that both generations share the K24 engine series is just makes me see no reason to get the 8th generation (for now). I'm just stuck with my EOD even after several opportunities to upgrade the car, but I just won't give it up.

The 2017 Accord is the only generation I think I might move directly to when the time is right.

Hello guys,
Pls my 08 Honda Civic (I-robot) is running rich (consuming fuel) at 12.1 - 12.3L/100km and smoking a bit. The smoke is not visible but one can smell it and there's some black soot in the exhaust.

The issue started over 2 months ago. My usual consumption used to range from 9.8 - 10.2L/100km till the the problem started.

There's no check engine light and no codes. Scanned myself and an electrician also did.
Both upstream and downstream O2 sensors, catalytic converter and MAF sensor in place.

I've changed complete set of plugs twice. Used the common NGK the first time, and used one Belgium set the second time. On both occasions, I got improvements of only about 0.1L/100km.

My exhaust has been checked and they said no leaks.

I also told mech to change my pressure regulator (returner). There was no change.

The only significant change I made to the car before this issue started was changing the oil from the common Mobil 20/50 the former owner used to Castrol GTX 5/20 as recommended by Honda. Oil level has not dropped and there are no leaks.

The problem is frustrating because the car has been a really good car since I bought it till this issue started. And I no ready to dey save for engine replacement now.

Please help.
For a car of such age, I believe if it still has the same factory engine that came with it, then the engine is simply showing signs of aging. I'm not an expert in these things but I'll advise you carry out a live data scan on the vehicle using those top level scanners to see if any anomalies will be noticed. If after doing all this and nothing is detected, Oga no stress yourself, the engine is only showing signs of aging and that's nothing to worry about if you ask me. You only noticed this issue because you pay better attention to details.

Ok. Let me explain something to you...
First, I can bet my balls that no Honda key can open my car except my key. Some never-do-wells have actually tried opening my car on two occasions but failed.
Honda cars keys are actually high security keys, much more secure than Toyota keys. I won't explain why that is, but I can explain why you had such experience.
Most of those cars are more than 15yrs old. Over the years, there is wear and tear on both the key blande and the lock pins. As the pins wear out, they no longer fit tightly in their location and tends to fail. The failure can come in two ways. Either it allows more keys to open it, or it fails to unlock even with the correct (old) key. When it starts getting difficult to unlock with the correct keys, most Nigerian locksmith, instead of doing a proper fix, they go and file down the worn out pins or even remove them entirely. This further worsens the situation. The pins are the security guards. Removing even one is an abomination.
What I do to maintain my key security (which I advice anyone reading this to do): Whenever I buy a new Honda, I order a new keyblade (or the whole key) from AliExpress. I send them a clear picture of my old key and pay for key cutting service. In my experience, they analyze the picture, decipher the key code, and then cut a perfect key. This is much easier if you already have the key code.
There's a good chance that this new perfect key might have a problem opening your car door or turning the ignition because your keyhole is already worn. Try it on less frequently used keyholes on your car, like the glove compartment, the rear seat fold release or the trunk through. If it works, then comes the second step.
I order for Hon66 lock pins from AliExpress. Then I tear down the door and bring out the key cylinder. I tear this down further to bring out all the worn out lock pins. Then I repin them to exactly match my new key. I also do this to the ignition hole as it is the most used keyhole and most worn out.
This brings back the security of your key as Honda intended it.
All these might sound complicated to the average Nigerian car owner, but this is a security issue, it is NOT supposed to be easy.
If you can not do this and can not get your locksmith to do it, then don't blame Honda when 5 different keys open your car.
This is plausible. I guess I'll be visiting a locksmith soon.

My car actually locked me and my family out after church on Sunday, the key hole refused to unlock the car, it got stuck in the lock position. The remote got bad and I've been using the keyhole to lock it for the past 3weeks now. Omo I suffer that day ehn.😭😭😭

In my own opinion, old Honda keys are averagely secured due to the average level of anti theft technology embedded in it compared to its counterparts.

I have had first hand experience with the usage one Honda key to open several same Honda vehicles but cannot start the car makes the security be average in my ratings. Because even though the whole car cannot be stolen, other components of the car can be dismantled and removed due to this flaw in their key security.

First, I want to say a big thank you to the creator of this forum. I’ve been looking for something like this for years—nice one!

I own my first Honda car, an LX Accord 2013, which I bought as a Nigerian-used vehicle in December 2022. I got it at a very good deal at the time, but deep down, I knew things don’t come that cheap. I was prepared for whatever issues came up! 😄

A week after purchase, the problems started. First, there was oil leakage from the engine, followed by the engine struggling to generate enough power to climb hills. Then, the check engine light and other warning lights popped up—my dashboard was like a Christmas tree! 😅 Upon inspection, the engine was opened up, and it was packed with oil sludge! There were so many issues: the oil pump was faulty, there were piston problems, and more. I decided to replace the engine entirely, and honestly, that was the best decision I made!

After that, I decided to upgrade the look of the car. I transformed it into a 2015 Honda Accord Touring model and replaced the seats with leather. I also installed four brand-new tires, replaced the vapor canister (to resolve the persistent check engine light), changed the spark plugs, brake pads, and steering rack.

To be honest, I didn’t do all the repairs and upgrades at once. It took me about four months to complete everything, costing around ₦1.5m to ₦1.7m in total. But mehn! I fell in love with the car! Money well spent!

Since April 2023, I haven’t had a single check engine light come on. I service the car religiously when the oil life percentage reaches 15%. Maintenance-wise, I always use full synthetic foreign engine oil. For coolant, I stick to the original Honda Long Life Coolant Type 2. I’m very cautious about what goes into the engine—engine don cost oo! 😅

Regarding fuel consumption, I always refill the tank when it gets to half. I’ve never let it go below that point—it’s easier and costs less that way. On average, I get around 170 to 190 miles from a full tank to half. It costs me about ₦35k to ₦40k to fill it up from half.

Currently, I’m planning to get a Honda CR-V EX-L 2018. 😁

Before I forget, a big shout-out to my mechanic, Alhaji Muri! He’s the most honest and respectful mechanic I’ve ever worked with. He’s especially good with electrical issues and has plenty of diagnostic tools to tackle any problem. Another shout-out to My Parts Nigeria, where I get my engine oil, filters, coolant, and other parts—they sell genuine products imported from the USA.
Na man you be!!!

I love the way you detailed and give attention to servicing your vehicle. I will keep saying it that, a perfectly maintained Honda is the best car you can ever use because it will be too reliable.

You also knew when to cut your loss and went for a replacement engine instead of spending money fixing and giving yourself headaches from countless reoccurring issues.

Kudos Boss.

I experienced this problem early this year. I woke up in the next day only to discover my honda accord wasn't responding to Fob keyless entry. At first I thought they stole my car battery or the battery was dead. Until I open it with the key and noticed the battery is intact then i start the car. It starts at once but the buttons on the fob not responding.

So I thought maybe the battery on the fob is dead. Just because I used it the previous night. It was what I used to lock the car. So I open the fob and removed the battery then test it with my tongue.

It has some little low charge. Then I put back the battery. The car makes a sound immediately I put back the battery. But when I pressed the buttons it didn't respond. I removed the battery several times but it doesn't that sound again or respond to press.

So I just leave it till I will buy another battery. Yesterday I bought a new battery and When you insert battery it blink red light just once. But the car doesn't respond. I have removed and insert multiple things it doesn't respond.

What could be the problem. I need help

Why are Honda s suddenly experiencing this same issue lately.

I and two other of my friends currently have this same issue which started two weeks ago. I was already planning on getting another key entirely sef.

I guess I'll just do a reprogramming as our ogas have suggested.
