TOPIC: HONDA KEYS How secure is a honda key? How is a Honda key different from Toyota key? What Makes a Honda key more or less secure? Which car is more secure, Honda or Toyota? ... Share your opinion.

Cryomancer: 5:39pm On Jan 20 |
Macmilla: In my own opinion, old Honda keys are averagely secured due to the average level of anti theft technology embedded in it compared to its counterparts. I have had first hand experience with the usage one Honda key to open several same Honda vehicles but cannot start the car makes the security be average in my ratings. Because even though the whole car cannot be stolen, other components of the car can be dismantled and removed due to this flaw in their key security. |
Macmilla(m): 7:42pm On Jan 20 |
Cryomancer:Ok. Let me explain something to you... First, I can bet my balls that no Honda key can open my car except my key. Some never-do-wells have actually tried opening my car on two occasions but failed. Honda cars keys are actually high security keys, much more secure than Toyota keys. I won't explain why that is, but I can explain why you had such experience. Most of those cars are more than 15yrs old. Over the years, there is wear and tear on both the key blande and the lock pins. As the pins wear out, they no longer fit tightly in their location and tends to fail. The failure can come in two ways. Either it allows more keys to open it, or it fails to unlock even with the correct (old) key. When it starts getting difficult to unlock with the correct keys, most Nigerian locksmith, instead of doing a proper fix, they go and file down the worn out pins or even remove them entirely. This further worsens the situation. The pins are the security guards. Removing even one is an abomination. What I do to maintain my key security (which I advice anyone reading this to do): Whenever I buy a new Honda, I order a new keyblade (or the whole key) from AliExpress. I send them a clear picture of my old key and pay for key cutting service. In my experience, they analyze the picture, decipher the key code, and then cut a perfect key. This is much easier if you already have the key code. There's a good chance that this new perfect key might have a problem opening your car door or turning the ignition because your keyhole is already worn. Try it on less frequently used keyholes on your car, like the glove compartment, the rear seat fold release or the trunk through. If it works, then comes the second step. I order for Hon66 lock pins from AliExpress. Then I tear down the door and bring out the key cylinder. I tear this down further to bring out all the worn out lock pins. Then I repin them to exactly match my new key. I also do this to the ignition hole as it is the most used keyhole and most worn out. This brings back the security of your key as Honda intended it. All these might sound complicated to the average Nigerian car owner, but this is a security issue, it is NOT supposed to be easy. If you can not do this and can not get your locksmith to do it, then don't blame Honda when 5 different keys open your car. 1 Like 1 Share |

Macmilla:This is plausible. I guess I'll be visiting a locksmith soon. My car actually locked me and my family out after church on Sunday, the key hole refused to unlock the car, it got stuck in the lock position. The remote got bad and I've been using the keyhole to lock it for the past 3weeks now. Omo I suffer that day ehn.πππ |

Cryomancer:A typical Nigerian. Never wanting to spend any kobo on their car until it leaves them stranded, and then they blame the car manufacturer. You will have to tell yourself if the stress, frustration and embarrassment you got was worth the little money you would've spent to fix the remote. 1 Like |

Mine happened abt 3years ago, when i gave a kolo addict my car to help me fix somethings. After taking his colos,i dont know what the idiot was thinking,a car that has remote lock, the addict now inserted my key direct into the door hole and gboom.it got stuck anti clockwise. now scatterd and scratched my door paint and dented it. Well i was so happy,it was a ed car,if it were to be my toks car. Civil war for start that minute.

mejai:I'm guessing you are in Lagos. I'm not in Lagos, but I'm sure Lagos has a lot of good technicians. If you cannot get a capable technician, then I'll advice you continue using your current engine till I save up for a new one. Warning: no matter how good a technician is, absolutely no Nigerian technician is capable of rebuilding Honda engines. You will still change that engine soon. |

Hello gurus in the house, Please I need you input and explanation. (2007 Honda Accord 4 plugs) Looking at the images attached, does my car consume fuel, because I no even understand the consumption thing and the calculation. From Egbeda to VI, Monday to Friday (Movement is between 5.30am and 4pm), I buy around 60k + fuel every week for my 2007 Honda Accord 4 plugs (with 4 engers on both trips and without AC) This morning just before leaving the house, I reset the TRIP A and TRIB B on the odometer to zero and also the Trip computer in the cars Navigation screen to zero. When I got to VI, the Odometer is showing 24.7 but the Trip computer is showing 40.4km.....why is there disparity in the trip calculator? Also, is the car consuming fuel? Please help me understand the TRIP A and B meaning After scanning the car, the only error code is the radiator thermostat. Please help.

jceesquare:If you have a Honda repair manual, go through the part on rebuilding an engine in details, then come back and tell me what you think. If you don't have a repair manual, then don't argue with me. |

kelvinmnet:24.7miles 40.4kilometres ... When you yanked out your thermostat, what were you expecting? |
jceesquare(m): 12:10pm On Jan 24 |
Macmilla:Stop beating around the bush. Doesn't change the fact that an engine won't be rebuilt to last. There are lots of treeshade mechanics up North and at Oyinbo rebuilding Honda engines without issues. And yes I have Honda rebuild manual and an all data software. I still maintain that our major problem in this part of the world is availability of good and genuine parts (availability of tools apart because one can improvise for it). |

Macmilla: As in, the thing tire me ![]() Driving without a thermostat and expecting good mpg is a fools errand at this point in time |
Macmilla(m): 8:21pm On Jan 24 |
jceesquare:In the bold part, you just mentioned two big reasons why what I said is very correct. I don't understand what you are still crying about. And talking about improvising, it never gives you the best and there are things you just can't improvise. So I stand strongly by what I said. |

Hello guys, Pls my 08 Honda Civic (I-robot) is running rich (consuming fuel) at 12.1 - 12.3L/100km and smoking a bit. The smoke is not visible but one can smell it and there's some black soot in the exhaust. The issue started over 2 months ago. My usual consumption used to range from 9.8 - 10.2L/100km till the the problem started. There's no check engine light and no codes. Scanned myself and an electrician also did. Both upstream and downstream O2 sensors, catalytic converter and MAF sensor in place. I've changed complete set of plugs twice. Used the common NGK the first time, and used one Belgium set the second time. On both occasions, I got improvements of only about 0.1L/100km. My exhaust has been checked and they said no leaks. I also told mech to change my pressure regulator (returner). There was no change. The only significant change I made to the car before this issue started was changing the oil from the common Mobil 20/50 the former owner used to Castrol GTX 5/20 as recommended by Honda. Oil level has not dropped and there are no leaks. The problem is frustrating because the car has been a really good car since I bought it till this issue started. And I no ready to dey save for engine replacement now. Please help. |

Chartey:For a car of such age, I believe if it still has the same factory engine that came with it, then the engine is simply showing signs of aging. I'm not an expert in these things but I'll advise you carry out a live data scan on the vehicle using those top level scanners to see if any anomalies will be noticed. If after doing all this and nothing is detected, Oga no stress yourself, the engine is only showing signs of aging and that's nothing to worry about if you ask me. You only noticed this issue because you pay better attention to details. |

Pla i beg u,do t wver do mistake of changing gasket or ringing your engine. Whay happened is your pistons rings are stuck, the carbon from the fake fuel u r buting has amounted to enuf carbon build up both on the valves and piston rings, thereby seizing your puston rings. Those carbon build up,are thick like sawdust and black up. What u need is a piston soak with atf and thinner, esp when the car has been driven for al ost 2hrs and parked at home for at least 10mins.if tou are a DIY guy like me,its pretty easy.if u r not patient, ud buy toks engine and it will begin to smoke and kill your plugs prematurely.normally plugs supposed to be changed every 1 year olus, and not every 2 or 3 months.if not, your engine will suck up fuel and oil. Use your head.your engine will be under load, plugs with injector with brainbox will keep maki g your engine consume oil and fuel.buy a borescope from aliexpress and check the top of your pistons. I bet u,it would be egg burnt black, with oil residue. Dont allow mechanic make u a client.DIY only.visit youtube or u become a maga
