anyway @ topic

hope this doesnt lead to another bakassi situation.

also, it seems to me if oil can be discovered in anambra and kogi states, then the whole nigeria must be sitting on oil.

i dont think anambra is close to the coast?

Anambra has coastal areas, places like Ogbaru,Atani,Otuocha,Anyamelum,Umuleri,Aguleri are riverine communities and are very good farmers with fertile lands that yields good farm products, like Rice from Atani and Yams from Ogabru.

bashr8: you just wrote gibberish , such things only exist in your head, you are no different from Dr osuji , deluded human being .

Its a pity you can't hold out a sensible arguement without resort to infantile comments, even when the facts are flying in your face, you neither dispute or provide counter facts, rather you resort to making senile comments.I don't know how old you are or your knowledge of history and geography, but I suggest you should do a little more research and detach yourself from ethnic sentiments and bigotry when reading or making comments.

This should be my last reply to your post till you make a reasonable comment that warrants a reply.

bashr8: and which part is core igbo , educate us.

You know even among the Igbos, there is a tussle for superiority over language.I think the language issue has been a little bit settled with the adoption of Igbo Izugbe which is a widely accepted version of Igbo language, but some arrogant Igbos had to spend money like four years ago to rewrite the Igbo bible since they felt the first and widely used bible was written by a group of Igbo they felt was inferior, hence the need to write a bible to reflect their dialect and superiority over others.

So,the issue of superiority has been there long ago.I don't want to derail this thread, maybe I should open another thread to address this conflict among Igbos, but knowing nairaland and what it is,it can produce unintended consequences.
Charlesnerd: 5:01am On Sep 01, 2012
Malawian: sounds igbo but i dont know where that is. Why dont you help us out.

Malawian,I am Igbo. The part some arrogant Igbos call "core Igbo".
Charlesnerd: 4:49am On Sep 01, 2012
I am from Igwulube Okodu if you know what that means.
Charlesnerd: 4:45am On Sep 01, 2012
Malawian: if i were to guess, i would say you are delta igbo. I have gone through your posts. Your english is too good to be even yoruba. You are also not exactly against igbo per say. How did i do? And why dont you say where you are from? Do you have something to hide or are you ashamed of your origins?

I am not ashamed of my ethnic origins,if not am so proud of it.
Charlesnerd: 4:38am On Sep 01, 2012
bashr8: you mentioned ethnic group didnt you ? you claimed south south resent igbos now we are asking you which of the south south ethnic groups , we could learn something new today.

I don't want to promote hate on here by giving you specific details of Igbo resentment and suspicion in the south-south,but believe me,its prevalent, even among the educated ,Igbos are seen as an overly ambitious group of people and I don't see anything wrong in being ambitious.
Charlesnerd: 4:23am On Sep 01, 2012
Malawian: you still havent named your ethnic group and why you should be concerned with this thread. Which ethnic group dont like igbos in south south? We want to know who they are for future refrences.

You people make me laugh, must I be concerned with a thread because of ethnic affiliation?.
Charlesnerd: 4:19am On Sep 01, 2012
bashr8: you are yet to name your ethnic group in the so called south south , i wont dbate who is igbo and who is not with you afterall your not igbo so its not your buisness who they are and who we say they are, tell us your ethnic group and the so ethnic groups in your south south that resent igbos .

My ethnic group should not be a problem to you,if I misrepresent your ethnic group, its your prerogative to correct me and I would be willing to take correction.

I expected your next post to be a lesson in textbook geography but you failed to live up to expectation. I am still waiting though.

Ana m eche gi,me osiso.

bashr8: your a product of failed educational system. the best thing for you to do is stop commenting.

What people fail to understand is that the presence of oil pipelines and flow stations does not make a state an oil producing state.

Imo state does not produce as much oil to be termed a major oil producing state,I doubt if any single oil reservoir in IMO state produces as much as 15,000 BPD.
Charlesnerd: 4:04am On Sep 01, 2012
bashr8: you mentioned south south and am teaching you geaography that igbos are part of south south so if mst throw cheap shots then mention your ethnic group and stop hiding behind region, some of you dont even read the article before you comment like sheeps.

The people of the south south you call Igbos do not see themselves as Igbos, though they bear Igbo names.I don't need to read textbook geography to correct a fallacious impression which people have by virtue of reading distorted and half-baked geography textbooks filled with fallacies and half-truths.

And if I may ask, which part of South-south do you call Igbos?.Be specific.

Abagworo:

Please be careful and read well before writing on a forum with a lot of knowledgeable people. The oil in Imo is not marginal one bit. Oguta, Ohaji, Egbema, Oru East, has oil wells with majority in Oguta.

Thanks,I used marginal vis a vis other major oil producing states in the south-south.Imo is not a major oil producing state ,so the wells in imo are still marginal wells.
Charlesnerd: 3:45am On Sep 01, 2012
bashr8: my friend shut up and name your ethnic group .stop hiding behind south south , igbos are part of south south too mumu

What has naming my ethnic group to do with the discussion at hand?and how am I hiding behind south-south?.I just want to get where you are driving at,and if you don't mind, tone down your insulting rhetoric if you want to have a reasonable conversation.

onomeasike: Anyaoku said crude refining by the company would commence by next year, and that when the refining facility was completed about 20,000 litres of crude would be refined daily.

did anybody forget to read this? these guys, including GEJ are surely playing on our intelligence, for Gods sake,if the refinery starts operation next year, why make a big publicity of its opening commission? undecided
besides, these guys have been postponing the time of eventual operation for some years now.How sure are we that they wont repeat same next year.Methinks, jonathan made a huge political capital out of this well-packaged attempt to decieve gullible ibos nay Nigerians. You dont announce to the world you are commissioning such an old sorry orient petroleum kite

Orient refinery was cash strapped at some point, they even had to go cap in hand begging anambra state govt for money. The plan right now is to start exporting crude oil barges via brass export terminal and use the money raised from that process to complete the refinery before next year.

Zeus I: simply put, and Igals are Igbo slaves. Hahahaha we will consume Igals, Kogits and any wreched crook from middle-belt as fire consumes a dry wood. Thank God for revealing that black gold, it means that judgement of all Igbo enemies shall soon begin.

It is such arrogance like yours that caused the civil war and the present resentment and suspicion of the Igbos in the south-south Nigeria.

Acidosis:

All na wash! So mention a tribe without charms and weapons either spiritual or physical.
People tends to be carm when there is no provocation

There is no grandstanding to what I have said. For some inexplicable reasons, people from the riverine areas seem to have very potent charms and are very good in Guerilla warfare in the creeks.A case study is the Niger Delta militancy and the role of the Ijaws and the riverine community.

FYI,most of those that fought the Umuleri/Aguleri war were the core of the dreaded bakassi boys you used to hear of in Anambra untill they were disbanded. When disbanded, they resorted to robbery, terrorising the city of Onithsa and environs, the police knew them but were virtrually helpless, crime abated when they got jobs as thugs to moneybag politicians and peace somehow prevailed in the state, some of them even ed Massob, yes Massob.

So,if you follow this trajectory, you would understand that these communities are as lethal as the Niger delta militants.

dozern: i can smell misinformation here. The IDA people is not saying the fact. How can right thinking people say that opl 195/196 bloc is owned by kogi state. I have the map of the bloc. Over 90% of the block is in Anambra. Anyoku has said it all. I worked at Odeke in ibaji LG in Kogi. They are a very good people, but there has not been officially any oil being discovered. It is until Sinopec finish there contract with Orient that they wil say there is any. So, if they fume orient can shun them and focus on major area. All the already existing oil wells ar located in Anambra, at Agulueri Otu. Especially well 1 and 2. While well 3 is close to odeke boundary. I personally ask some Odeke people about their boundary btw them and Anambra. Where they show me is not too close to the boundry. Why am saying this is because i brought out my time to study the block map. So, coment the credited to IDA people is nt true at all.

Thank you for the information.I think its a bit clearer now.So if well 1 and 2 are in anambra and well 3 is at the boundary, then if I may ask, which of the wells is in dispute?.Is well 1 and 2 equivalent to OPL 195 and 196?.I guess the well in dispute is an OML?.Can you shed more light.

P Beni:

Come to think of it, it's Aguleri for christ sake! Man, those guys are gonna deal with any tresers. Me thinks that this claims by kogi will denegerate into something else. But before then, I got a lot of money to make from from that oil...

You are very right,I hope Orient would have an open mind and settle all parties concerned in a just and equitable manner, but if they resort to underhand tactics and divide and conquer,I don't think any Kogi Militant group would be to match Umuleri or Aguleri when it comes to war or aggravation.Umuleri/Aguleri have seen inter-tribal war which lasted for so many years and was characterised by the use of sophisticated weapons and charms of unimaginable proportions. They are very skilled in the art of Guerilla warfare and could be heartless.

You tell me...if we follow your logic then almost every state in Nigeria will be an oil producing state.

Imo is an oil producing state and a member state of NDDC ,however IMO has only marginally producing wells towards the Egbema axis which shares the same boundary with Egbema in Rivers state (actually the same homogenous community divided due to the politics of oil in Nigeria).

My point is,even if the wells in your state are marginal, you would be recognised as an oil producing state. It was this reluctance to include Anambra as an oil producing state, coupled with politically/ethnically driven motives that delayed the exploration of gas and crude at Otuocha basin which has over 50bn cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves and crude.
Charlesnerd: 6:40pm On Aug 31, 2012
afam4eva: MOst of the oil wells are in Anambra with a few in Enugu and Kogi states. That's not enough to make them an oil producing state. Though due recognition should be given to them.

How many oil wells are in Abia,Ondo and Calabar (untill recently) before they were pronounced oil producing states by the Federal Govt?
Charlesnerd: 6:34pm On Aug 31, 2012
This is a highly contentious issue.I forsee a long drawn litigation if this is not settled out of court, the Kogians could even get militant over the issue and we would have another crude oil related crisis on our hands in the middle belt.

I think the best solution out of this would be to call the area where crude deposits are discovered a t Development Zone ,while each ading state would share from the crude to the extent of encroachment by Orient Petroleum.

But Nigerians no dey take eye see or hear oil at all.I pray oil finishes someday soon so we can all think with our God given brains.

Dnaz: So SEUN since dis is a democratic forum, let's put it to a vote; PRO GARRI LOVERS VS ANTI GARRI LOVERS. The winner gets d right to Regulate the Price of Garri via NAIRALAND

I was about to say same.In as much as I detest the use of such cliche when serious matters are being discussed,I think it would be wrong to unilaterally ban people from using such word, its a known cliche in Nigeria which construes indifference, though of late we have seen the Garri association of nairaland derailing topics with their rather boring garri related comments.

Seun, lets put it to a vote,in that way you can give majority their say,and minority their way.

@ Okija juju,I also agree with your post.

This crafty man is at it again,playing with figures to deceive the unsuspecting public.OBJ is a student of history and he knows history might not be fair to him,so he's trying to write his history,firmly etched in our minds while he's still alive.Obasanjo did some good things nothwithstanding but at what cost to the country?.He needs to answer these questions;

-How much was actually paid to secure debt relief?

-How much was spent on the power sector ?

-Can he give an of his stewardship as de facto petroleum minister from 2003-2007?

-What happened to Abacha loot returned by foreign Banks and govts?

-How much what spent on repairing federal roads between 1999-2007 and why are we still repairing the same roads years after he had left govt?

-And finally, why do you like lying Obasanjo?why?

Please lets check our facts before we type,Barth Nnaji does not have a major stake in GE,he could be a minor shareholder just like every small investor, but not as much to deserve such honorable mention.

Barth did a very good job,and if he resigned voluntarily to take up his former position in his old company,I would say its a very good move.I think he has done the major groundwork in the privatisation process.I wish him the best of luck!
