Blaming FG? How much has Edo received in allowance since subsidy removal? What did you use it to do? Anyways, now that LGs have financial autonomy, gov should see to it that an Independent federal INEC starts conducting LG elections. 1 Like |

maasoap: Electricity is different because the electricity act of 2023 signed allows anyone to generate, transmit and distribute electricity as long as they are ed with the government. If I install a solar farm and start generating 5MW, I can sell it directly to consumers without going through the grid. Although, grid will help me save cost of getting it to you because they already have infrastructures on ground. I will invest in solar farms only if I get my money back. Imagine more of me in the market, obviously, price will come down. Also, I’m not dependent on gas or coal, so my overheads will be lower. I won’t want a situation where I go bank, borrow money to build solar farms, only for my customers not be able to pay, hence why gov should install meters and punish electricity theft. |

Protester should go home. Mr President has heard you loud and clear!! If the protesters are smart, they should set targets like A) Mr President, by December, we want more verifiable electric buses and trucks B) We want completion of so and so road by this time C) We want student loan be converted to grants for outstanding students or repaid when students starts start working. D) By next year May, we want our megawatt to reach 12,000 MW. Don’t ask for short term gains like bringing back of fuel subsidy and etc. This will only enrich pockets of the few!! |

NzogbuNzogbu: We are not leaving. He has the people’s mandate! If he does well and if he contest in 2027, I will vote for him again! If you don’t want him anymore, vote for your candidate in 2027 as any other attempts will fail. |

President Tinubu’s istration has borrowed over $2 billion so far on electricity and over $500 million was earmarked for mass metering. If the government wants to stop paying this costly subsidies, they should metre all the unmetered customers ASAP. You will generate more power and spread the cost across all bands evenly. Liquidity easily flows to DiScos, so DIScos can pay Gencos for electricity consumed at market rates, without the need for subsidy. Some of the liquidity even get to federal government because they own 40% of Discos, which means more federal budget allocations. I like that NBET is no more, so Discos will buy what they need directly. They should also start punishing electricity theft, NASS should a law that punishes customers bying meters. We basically need the market to induce more Gencos to produce more power, and that can only happen if they would be profitable doing so. Also, make TCN a 20,000 MW wheeling capacity national grid, and then privatise it. Once the market is flooded with Gencos and more Discos, electricity prices will come down. Electricity business should be a tax generating revenue stream for government, and not something they should be subsiding. This sector is a low hanging fruit for the president, particularly now that fuel subsidy is gone. They should improve it, and start using it as tax revenues. 1 Like |

0m0luabi: Wait till 2027. Tinubu has the mandate of the people! Democracy has come to stay, and shall not be trampled upon by extremist. No going back on fuel subsidy or multiple exchange rates. He should allow imported foodstuffs of all kind up till February. Minister of Agriculture should be on ground, meeting all farmers, small, medium and large, asking what they need, and what can be done to help. All ministers should be on ground, no more sitting in offices. Accelerate the mass metering process, so electricity gets even better. Mr Adelabu should tell us the journey to 6,000 MW he promised by December, and how he is going to achieve it. CNG should be done alongside with electric cars/buses/trucks. If you have electric cars and places around countries to charge them, you good to go. CNG takes time! Regarding the student loan, there should be a documentary by Tetfund, outlining the process for us to see. We should see the students who are current beneficiaries, how easy the process is, and see active participants, so that more students will take advantage. Payment should be made upon job found, and not 2 years after NYSC. |

Mahenson: He can be sacked. The amended law is to allow service chiefs who have reached retirement age while in service to complete their contracted tenure. It is good because if you appoint a good service chief at 59, instead of losing him because of retirement, you can keep him, and utilise his experience. Would mean hardworking and dedicated service chiefs will continue their good work without interruption. 1 Like |
