The Registrar of the t issions and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Wednesday, broke into tears as he apologised for the errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, News360 Nigeria reports.

“I apologise for the trauma caused the candidates,” Oloyede said tearfully during a press conference in Abuja.

Recall that out of 1.9 million candidates who sat the UTME, over 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of the maximum 400 marks.

This suggested that over 75 per cent of all candidates scored below 200.

Meanwhile, some affected candidates threatened to initiate a lawsuit against JAMB.

Hehehe.

Where are the people speaking ill of the guys asking for justice. They called them all sorts of names.
Some even called them yahoo boys.

The most annoying ones are the ones who saw it from tribal perspective.
For an educator like Alex Onyia to come out on national television to speak out boldly that the system must have been compromised, shows that he must have seen something wrong, but a poor internet warrior called him useless and yahoo boy.

Most of us have been conditioned to take whatever mistreatments thrown at us. We see seeking for justice as a taboo.
We must change our mindset for Nigeria to function properly.

This shows that if we can come together and call out all these institutions in Nigeria, they will do the right thing.

This is victory for Nigerians, and I wish the students who will resit for the exam good luck.

Ok. Should they ask for rescheduling, they must spare those who scored high oo. Else, kasala go burst cos my son did very well in it.

The only fair correction is reduce cut off score to 150. Let the post utme result aggregate now determine whoever is qualified for their chosen courses of study.

Alhaji Registrar should keep his crocodile tears in his pocket undecided

Simple solution is for JAMB to henceforth publish its marking scheme for each exam and furnish each candidate with a print-out of each candidate's answer sheet, even if it's for an additional fee...

As JAMB is trying to curb exam malpractice, it should also curb result malpractice and errors within its ranks... Let students and their guardians have full access to the marking scheme and their submitted answer sheets so that they can their results for themselves..

Our kids can't keep on paying with years of their lives for JAMB's incompetence and Oloyede's obsession with posting insane profit at the expense of JAMB's examination integrity...

The main objective of JAMB should be conducting exams with transparent results, not posting obscene profits yearly as if they are Dangote Group..

On the other hand, as much as we are making out JAMB to be the bad guy in all this, we must also consider that it's not for us to take candidates' word that their results aren't a true reflection of their input in the exam... Some may have made grave errors in the exam while some legit wrote rubbish leading of course to rubbish result, only for them to cry fowl against JAMB to avoid scrutiny from their guardians.

Also, just as JAMB errors substantially eroded many candidates' results, it's also very possible that some candidates got inflated results due to the same errors....

So as we are all calling for JAMB's head, let's also be careful what we wish for... If JAMB reviews the results, some candidates will be stripped of their inflated results..

crocodile tears. JAMB has been killing dreams and destroying lives with their errors. for every error JAMB makes, it's someone dream that's been tampered with. someone life has been tampered with. But why do we need to write JAMB yearly. National assembly should look into it. 2 years validity is good

Atleast these ones are itting their error and apologizing for it!
This can never happen at INEC!
I hope there will be consequences for their actions which has led to the death of a jambite through suicide?

A boy committed suicide already

That's why it's not good to rely on AI completely

I use AI but still fact check its results if it makes sense.

Jamb should go back to manual marking

Why is this error domiciled mainly in the Southeast which is the most educationally advanced region?

He should resign honorably.

papyjaypaul:

I don't believe in who won but both sides are correct. The students must get the marks they deserve and they must be given a conducive environment to do their exams. Exam is not just writing on a piece of paper or going to a computer, your state of mind must be calm to write an exam.

For JAMB, we must encourage them to develop a robust exam that cannot be compromised. I am not a fan of JAMB because what it was setup to solve, our corruption as a country has eaten it but we must also give it to them for trying to put a system in place to stop the wrong people from getting ission.

Nigerians have to it that CORRUPTION WILL KILL US ALL. Whether it's corruption in the ission process, miracle centers, corrupt JAMB staff, lazy parents and bad politicians, we will live with the results in a few years when the children we refused to mould properly start taking care of us in our old age. I don't think a lot of people think about the society they are creating. They are not

papyjaypaul:

What is the way forward

I am happy they itted they goofed. I don't want to bring politics into this but this JAMB of 2025 reminds me of INEC 2023. Our institutions need to be stronger.

What do you want to happen now that they have accepted they are the problem (something Nigerian public officers hardly ever want to do, even in the face of plenty evidence)?
