The t ission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has finally itted that it made errors that affected students’ performance during the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The Registrar of the Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, itted to this during an ongoing press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.

Oloyede said, “What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors.”

Recall that out of 1.9 million candidates who sat the UTME, over 1.5 million reportedly scored below 200 out of the maximum 400 marks.

This suggested that over 75 per cent of all candidates scored below 200.

Meanwhile, some affected candidates threatened to initiate a lawsuit against JAMB.

In a sane country, you should resign immediately after the press statement. In a country where incompetence is celebrated, nothing will happen.
What happened to those who have died because of your incompetence? A lot of students have gone into depression.

This is heartbreaking.
For those who have justified the mass failures of the students attributing it to social media, Na God go puneesh una!!

We said so, but they claimed it is true reflection of the system. grin grin grin grin

It's everywhere. Some weeks ago, a radio broadcaster was on air and saying he could help you, what do you want? One of the things he said is that "I have slots in XYZ university". He was somehow showing how connected he was, he wasn't bragging about it but it was like 'grace'.

Nigerians will have to decide if they want systems to work or not. It's a bad habit Nigerians have. We want things our way, grab it and run away with it. What we are not realizing is that the youth will rise up very soon. I pray this JAMB doesn't become an ENDSARS 3.0. The adults are so comfortable with the mess they live in, they are living in an illusion that it will be business as usual. Meanwhile these young Sorosoke Gen Z have one good thing about them, they love justice and their broadcasts is social media. We are sitting on a time bomb.

I don't believe in who won but both sides are correct. The students must get the marks they deserve and they must be given a conducive environment to do their exams. Exam is not just writing on a piece of paper or going to a computer, your state of mind must be calm to write an exam.

For JAMB, we must encourage them to develop a robust exam that cannot be compromised. I am not a fan of JAMB because what it was setup to solve, our corruption as a country has eaten it but we must also give it to them for trying to put a system in place to stop the wrong people from getting ission.

Nigerians have to it that CORRUPTION WILL KILL US ALL. Whether it's corruption in the ission process, miracle centers, corrupt JAMB staff, lazy parents and bad politicians, we will live with the results in a few years when the children we refused to mould properly start taking care of us in our old age. I don't think a lot of people think about the society they are creating. They are not

This is good they are itting their mistake

I hope that the necessary corrections are made

What is the repercussions for this mistake that has caused great discomfort to the students and one person has even committed suicide

What happens now

I agree that he should resign. Interestingly, he was appointed after Prof Ojerinde too had problems with the exam in 2014-15.

What is the way forward

I am happy they itted they goofed. I don't want to bring politics into this but this JAMB of 2025 reminds me of INEC 2023. Our institutions need to be stronger.

What do you want to happen now that they have accepted they are the problem (something Nigerian public officers hardly ever want to do, even in the face of plenty evidence)?
