Warri refinery can never work

If I'm president I would scrap it 100% if the staffs won't agree I sell it to them the staffs let them take it for free and run it them pay themselves if they so much believe in it...

Warri refinery, port Harcourt and Kaduna refinery are not viable... Just like ajokuta can never be viable

Actually, there's nothing stopping those refineries from working, but there's no political will to put things in order.

It might require an overhaul, but it can definitely work... Only thing is that those projects are based on old industrial architecture and the individuals looting money through the projects won't put standard systems in place.

Atiku said same, they said he wants to sell the country to his friends. Govt should sell the three refineries to private investors and use the money accrued to increase their stake inD Dangote's refinery to maybe 50% or >

Its hust like shutting down a cemetery. A place that is a carcass already. To what end?

I always wonder what exactly does NNPC does when all the four refineries are dead.

Nigeria is a theatre of theatrics.

My brother i assure you WRPC is very viable and visible but the powers that be will not allow it work I'm telling you truth not hear say, the power generation is 60MW almost new machine because of recent overhaul and max consumption is around 20MW.So power generation alone is underutilized and WRPC has maximum 80MW generation capacity,do you know how much you make just 1MW Hrs? that's just power generation alone

I thought it was a refinery

Don't say so.it can be viable with right management. Not packaged management.

Ex GMD Mele Kyari is a fraud. Appointed by Buhari to serve Northern establishment.

If oil industry thrives in the North, would they Allow southern "infidels"to Manage it, talkless the exalted position of GMD?

We need to ask ourselves questions about sincerity in appointments and our survival as a nation.

These clowns collected salaries for years without any production in the refinery. Una dey craze
You have no idea what they must have gone through in that 10years of hopelessness. If the shutdown is true at all, to me, I feel it's all a cover-up for the non-functioning of the refinery. I still feel those refineries are not working (port-harcourt and warri), the FG and NNPC are just lying to us because they know there will no consequences after all.
We are reading in the news that their MDs got 80billion naira in their s... That's what they have been doing, stealing and lying...

Kilowns (clowns) as my friend will call it. I thought "they" said the refinery had started operation in full swing when obasanjo made a comment on it . They even invited him to come and visit so why shutting it down?

Kaduna is not designed for Nigerian crude.... Can't refine Nigerian crude

Warri is too small to produce petrol only diesel and kero

Google them

Okay then, you could have said that all along. Regardless, there's definitely a possibility of a refinery being upgraded or changed to refine other types of petroleum products...

At the end of the day, it's the inefficiency of the government that is to blame. One man built the largest single train refinery in the world, but the so called government couldn't build a working refinery since 1960. Even the electricity we're begging for, if someone like Dangote should handle it, Nigeria would have stable power within 10 years.

I wish I had your hope and optimizing

Upgrading all 3 refinery would cost minimum of 12 billion dollars... We spent less than one

Yea well, we've spent far more money than $12B on national projects without much to show. I don't think doling out government funds is the major issue, rather it's how transparent the expenditure is. The <$1B spent, what percentage was embezzled? Obasanjo spend $16B on power, nothing to show!

With the corruption at NNPC, the 12B still wouldn't get the refineries working at maximum capacity.
